Anyhow @drakeisskinny... Has "In My Feelings" been certified yet? Should it be around 6-8x platinum?

I don't understand why people here are so quick to judge/criticize an artist or a record company going out of their way to get a #1 hit. Who wouldn't want a #1 hit? How is that desperate or shady? Those are two different concepts/questions.

Republic would benefit by focusing more on Post Malone, imagine if he had as much promo as Ariana or Taylor for his new releases.

Also, the ~40% drop in points from LWYMMD to ME! is a tremenduous decline.

People are ridiculous and hypocritical re: "tactics". When your fave does it, it's amazing/incredible/"omg their MIND"/etc. but when someone they don't like does the same f**king thing then how desperate/sad/pathetic/cheaters/cancel them. Like... f**k off maybe? No, they only care when a big female pop star does it. I said the same thing in Travis Scott's HDD thread, when I was pretty much alone having meltdowns about Billboard's loopholes.

Pop stars (in general I've found) tend to do more promo than hip hop artists for some reason. Except Post Malone is both... a pop star and a hip hop artist. Every single that he has released in the past year has gone straight to the top 3 with little to no promo.

Also, the ~40% drop in points from LWYMMD to ME! is a tremenduous decline. Exactly. To witness how many of her stans have been moving the goal posts this past week is hilarious. At first it was: "Finally! I can't wait for Taylor to kick that awful meme out of the top spot. Talent will win! True talent will prevail". Now that "ME!" isn't going #1: "Why are people dragging Taylor? No other Female would be able to surpass "OTR" if they released now. "OTR" is on of the biggest songs of the decade; it's huge. Let's see your faves debut at #2". LMFAO! Lil Nas X even replied to someone on Twitter last night saying that some Swifties were in his DM's sending him threats! The decline from "LWYMMD" to "ME!" is tremendous and they can't stand it. Even if we REMOVE sales from the equation... The streams are a mess too.

Nothing I said was incorrect. :sip2: In these threads it only seems to be okay when it's done by hip-hop artists (sans Nicki). And Ariana Grande.

The fact that Billboard isn't even attempting to strengthen the rules and close at least some of the many loopholes is beyond baffling to me. The scam tactics are now approaching unimaginable levels of insanity. We had remixes and discounts before, but this what labels are doing right now is something else entirely.
The UK charts, as ridiculous as they are, have more credibility than Billboard at this point. That's how bad things have gotten.

Their Accelerated Chart Ratio is the dumbest rule on any of the global charts at the moment.

99% of this discussion wouldn't be happening if OLR weren't unusually strong. In most 'normal' weeks, ME would be a shoe-in for #1 by a wide margin and no talk of 'desperate,' 'tactics,' etc.
I do find the 'tactics' discussion a bit odd because this is a business and the fact that so many people don't understand that concept is a strange. Unless it is an illegal activity, it's legitimate marketing and promotion, which every label and artist can do. And, just like every other product/business, not everyone has a huge budget or the right product to promote like crazy.
I like the fact that labels/artists are finding different ways to make buying music relevant and tangible. As a former massive purchaser of music, when I moved to premium streaming 4 years ago, I now only buy 'collectibles' on secondary market. However, if a new fav came out with these various vinyl, physical bonuses, I'd be down.

In most 'normal' weeks, ME would be a shoe-in for #1 by a wide margin and no talk of 'desperate,' 'tactics,' etc. Honestly the discussion would still be happening. This song is declining hard and not sticking which is the issue for her lead single —not whether it reaches #1 or #2. It’s down to #3 on Spotify, #6 on Apple Music, is almost #2 on iTunes, and it’s barely been half a week. LWYMMD was a 3 week #1 but still invoked tons of discussion because it dropped hard and had a weak run overall. The tactics being pulled just makes the #2 & declining numbers look worse ofcourse.
