US YouTube, Friday: 11 (-9) Taylor Swift - ME! (feat. Brendon Urie) 939,347 -1,169,950
Wow. Her fanbase must've really been keeping it alive first week.

Is Old Town Road receiving a boost from the Kentucky Derby? Its three versions have been green on iTunes for five consecutive updates. OTR was used in some clip packages during Derby coverage, so probably.

Wow. Her fanbase must've really been keeping it alive first week. Are you genuinely surprised here or are we just trying to throw in some more dragging? lol Taylor absolutely collapsing on iTunes as soon as the second week begins. Old Town Road currently at a 34% lead over it already after being below it yesterday. It's like people here don't even know how Lil Nas X got OTR popular in the first place (lots of advertising through Tik Tok) . Lil Nas did about as much advertising as Taylor has with ME!, but it's just less apparent. LOL. She had YouTube ads playing the entire music video, had a multi format radio deal, and had every single banner on Apple Music/iTunes at one point. Clearly we get they both promote and do tricks. However it is certainly not the same extent. Let’s not even pretend. Who even uses TikTok? 1%~ of the population? I'm still in shock Taylor had the actual nerve to record a rehearsal, and have fans pay for it. Talk about extreme capitalism. I'm sorry but... a live rehearsal track released? I'm going to spend all Monday laughing if she's #2. 99% of this discussion wouldn't be happening if OLR weren't unusually strong. In most 'normal' weeks, ME would be a shoe-in for #1 by a wide margin and no talk of 'desperate,' 'tactics,' etc. Honestly the discussion would still be happening. This song is declining hard and not sticking which is the issue for her lead single —not whether it reaches #1 or #2. It’s down to #3 on Spotify, #6 on Apple Music, is almost #2 on iTunes, and it’s barely been half a week. LWYMMD was a 3 week #1 but still invoked tons of discussion because it dropped hard and had a weak run overall. The tactics being pulled just makes the #2 & declining numbers look worse ofcourse. Wonder if Republic thinks it'll come off as bad if their launch single with her doesn't go #1 or something. They shouldn't be going so hard with this single before it shows any signs of stabilizing/sticking because now when Single #2 & album release comes, they're already going to have worn off a lot of promotional avenues. If they go all out with those too its just gonna seem overbearing at that point. I'm literally seeing Instagram ads for Me!, it had ads all over YouTube, etc. Later down the era promotion will just turn people off with her if they keep going hard. The critics tore it to shreds, and with the sharp declines at sales/streaming I think that does speak to how the public is receiving it. Literally almost everyone is aware of this song at this point — it’s gotten huge publicity, yet it’s not sticking. And it’s down to #3 on Apple Music with every single banner. This is underperforming. It might do even worse than LWYMMD outside radio. What’s surprising to me is that Taylor still isn’t #1 on Apple Music. The song has every single banner on the main page (5 banners), is at the front and center of the New Music section, and her playlists are getting promotion too. I'm so surprised she of all people would release something like this. I just don't understand how she, Brendon, and everyone this song went through heard that bridge and thought it was good.

You're acting as if its just me? Lmao. And yeah I'm surprised her song is performing like that. We are talking about Taylor Swift, not a C-list artist. But if we want to pretend the newest hit song isn't declining in a thread to talk about how current hits are performing, then I'll hush for your sake.

The fact that you took the time out of your Sunday to search through another thread to quote him several times in the first place... LMAO. Haha It always makes me laugh when people post things like this, which they have been doing for years (the whole taking a few extra minutes to post = a user has sooo much extra time/no life). It takes no more than three minutes to click a user's profile name, click on "user's recent posts" where all of these were literally all together, on one page, and very quickly/easily collected. Still, sure, nice tired attempt at shade sis. lol Now, back to the faux gagging.

How much do you guys think ME! is going to sell this week? I'm saying no more than 60k Probably even no more than 40k. Now OT Road's 3 versions combined has a 2.5:1 lead now over Taylor and Brendon on iTunes. Don't mess with cowboy. For Taylor, that's more than 70% second-week sales drop (from 150k), indicating mixed reception?! It's f**ked. LWYMMD's second-week drop was 68% (353k->114k). In comparison, Shake It Off's second-week drop was only 35%.

^If that song doesn’t debut at #1 then i don’t know what will.. because people have been waiting on new songs by Ed Sheeran AND Justin Bieber. Let’s hope it doesn’t disappoint like “ME!” ..

That’s on par with what an A-list artist would be selling in 2019. B-list artists like Madonna can’t even sell 10k in two weeks anymore. Its first week will also literally be the highest digital sales since LWYMMD, unless I’m missing something. Note: I think it’ll spend like 5 weeks in the top 10, but it could be much worse. CTTR, Filthy, etc Pls it not spending less weeks in the top ten than LWYMMD did, I'm going with ten

Rihanna or Adele. They're the only Queens left. •Hehe• Honestly however, Rihanna has never debuted at #1 anyway (not that she's ever needed too - achieving such would be a small '+' for her at this point) and who knows how Adele's next lead may perform.

I saw somewhere on Twitter that 'In My Feeling's' is eligible for Diamond. Is that true? It can't be (I know 'God's Plan' is though). What are its pure sales and SPS (U.S) so far?

Sheeran and Bieber's track could either be a smash hit ala. 'Despacito' or underperform/flop ala. 'River'/'No Brainer'.
It's performance in the U.S is up-in-the-air but I feel like it'll be an automatic hit is most of Europe/Oceania.

It is absolutely way easier to have a hit in Europe, especially if you're on in your years (and Sheeran and Bieber are getting there), than it is in the US. I mean, Pink's latest song made top 10 here in the UK. I wonder why that is. Is US radio/promotion just that cruel towards older artists? Why is the generational turnover so much faster in the US, when the charting turnover is so much slower?

Walk Me Home only went Top 10 off of a EMA performance medley that P!nk did. For three separate non-consecutive weeks? Wait it lasted more than one week? I'm not that surprised though because P!nk has always been more successful in the UK and Australia than the US.

^^I also heard a remix of "Walk Me Home" played by some DJ at the pub literally last night, which is why I was reminded of that example. So I'm assuming it's at least a moderate hit here in the UK.

You can also argue UK drops artists way faster too. Leona Lewis, Duffy, Emeli Sande, Dido, James Blunt, etc.
I don't think the US has had so many artists built up to huge household names to only be completely dropped the next few years like UK. Every country has their differences.

Why is the generational turnover so much faster in the US, when the charting turnover is so much slower? I wouldn't say it's "easy" to have a hit in Europe at all unless you're absolutely and genuinely popular. France, Germany, Holland, Spain, Italy etc. are some of the most difficult markets to break for English speaking acts and of this century so far only four international Female artists have experienced vast chart success in these countries: Rihanna and Britney Spears, and to a lesser extent Pink and Lady Gaga (early-Beyonce too). Taylor Swift, for example, has extremely weak stats. across Continental Europe. It's her weakest overall market by far. ●Now, that said, if you're a dance act chances are you'll be received well regardless● The U.K is polarizing. It's the third biggest music market and most musical genres/styles are popular here among the multiple demographics. However, chart wise, only certain types of music actually perform well. Pink scoring a top ten hit with her latest lead single is not farfetched at all. She's the second biggest international Female album seller to debut in the U.K since 2000 after Rihanna and has always been a big star here, since her '99 debut. I think you're half right in that U.S radio/promotion plays a lot in chart success there. Out of the major music markets only America has such such a massive, influential Airplay system. Look back at the mid-2000's; while the U.S singles charts were being dominated by radio airplay, the U.K for example were still relying on Physical sales from Woolworths, HMV, Tesco etc. Perhaps in smaller countries the charts just move faster. In the U.K it's still a massive accomplishment if your average hit song charts for more than 15 weeks in the top ten unlike in America where songs are reaching 25-30+ weeks.
