OTR is def not breaking the record. I give it 9-12 weeks #1 before another song swoops in. For a song to have a fair reach at the record, it has to not peak until around it's 6th-10th week #1, then have weak competition + very small declines the remaining weeks. OTR already peaked its second week. A song isn't gonna stay 15 more weeks at #1 after its peak (the only exception would be if a song was doing like 500 million streams a week, Candle in the Wind esque numbers). That's how Despacito, which didn't peak in points until its 7th-8th week at #1 was able to tie the record. but despacito didn’t have the average number 2 song being below 30k points. If that were the case it’d be sitting at 20 weeks at number 1 before it fell below wow’s last week points around 28k. I feel like OTR has a good chance but then again this week will only be it’s 6th week at #1. It has another 10 weeks to prove us wrong |

The defining point for OTR is how it fares with the callouts on pop radio. It has been in decline in streaming every week so the possible increase in points (and 10+ weeks for that matter) depends on airplay tbh.

OTR's 17th week at #1 will be August 3rd, that's a long time from now, however there's not a lot that seems like it's gonna stop it. Bieber & Sheeran seem like they could do it, but honestly with the faltering success of other pop stars right now I wouldn't say it's a guarantee. Drake's on break, Post just seems to release whenever he wants, Adele likely won't be dropping until Q4, Taylor Swift isn't really a threat anymore.
So I guess we'll see.

These charts have been incredibly weak and can easily be taken advantage of. The BRC version of OTR does not have an official video yet and could bring the songs momentum back up, who knows

Yeah these discussions about the record happen every time, and as we’ve seen, a new song can come out of nowhere and blow up. We didn’t see “See You Again” coming, or “Old Town Road” for that matter. What’s #2 now has nothing to do with July.

Lizzo is literally everything so I'd love for her to have a hit! Anyways, if Taylor releases a good second single in about a month or so I think it would snatch the #1 if OTR is decreasing in points. Me! literally has one of the biggest point totals of any song from the past two years, it's only behind Look What You Made Me Do, Old Town Road, God's Plan and In My Feelings in terms of points. Taylor is not "over" contrary to popular belief. I'd say it's one of the strongest #2's of all time and the strongest since probably Anaconda. |

So Taylor released a single that did not debut at #1 or did not climb to #1 after the initial radio deal.
It does not mean it can't still climb to #1 later if it grows at radio
