So why exactly were people here disappointed by the "Old Town Road" video? I didn't really know what to expect but it was pretty cool, I laughed a couple times even. I'm definitely not a big fan of music videos that keep cutting the song to feature acting, but with a song that short I kinda get it. Well...this. People will still listen to audio and lyrics. Hope I'm wrong.

Tragic that this couldn't hit #1. Label and management incompetence smh.

So after first day at Apple Music:
- Tyler the Creator doing surprisingly well with his album. #1 (solo) song blocking all the DJ Khaled star collabs.
- Khaled’s Nipsey/John Legend collab and Cardi/21 collab will be the two that take off first from his album. Left the SZA track & Post/Travis track in the dust.
- Nightmare is underperforming straight up. Sucks because it’s pretty good, but it definitely isn’t radio-friendly as her last singles.
Khaled’s album should debut #1 on the albums chart, and could get 2 top 10s. Tyler mighttt get a top 10. Halsey will be lucky to debut top 20.

How is Nightmare underperforming? It's #2 on Itunes and hasn't received a red update yet. As for Apple music, I thinks it's ok being #80 with 30 new songs ahead of it. Let's wait to see hoy many of those 5.4 million views are from the us and for the spotify number. It they are indeed low, then it's underperforming.

It is underperforming on Apple Music, which is what the poster was referring to. Indeed, as discussed many many times before, AM has a more urban-leaning demographic so we should definitely wait for Spotify numbers before commenting. It is #7 trending on US youtube while OTR is #1, but I don't understand how trending videos are ranked anyway so I don't know if that ranking tells us something or not

I agree about the trending youtube chart, I think Slipknot was #1 on it as well a couple of hours ago.

Regardless, it's way too early to tell. Without Me debuted in the 20's (I think?) but thrived because of its insane longevity.

I am personally underwhelmed by the new Halsey: for a song that should cement her super stardom as a solo artist it's kinda flat. Interesting to see how it charts for the first few weeks.

So Halsey should debut in the top 30 with a chance to hit top 10 once radio picks up. But it won’t be a Without Me size hit.

All of Halsey's hits have been growers so there's no reason to dismiss this one based on its first couple days. She's definitely recognizable enough right now but I don't think she's yet reached that point where her songs are instant out-of-the-box smashes so I'd say we can wait a little on this before determining whether it has room to grow or not.

This! I don't see why people were expecting Ariana-like numbers just yet. Consistency and long runs are key for Halsey at this stage in her career.

Even most of Post Malone's hits are growers. They might debut in the top 10/20, but his songs are usually smashes out the gate. They grow into hit records. It's unrealistic to expect that any artist who has had a #1 record before should always have a new single debut in the top 10 to be recognized as a hit. The only thing that matters in the streaming era is consistency.

Nightmare is already #32 on pop radio, it's coming! Did it have an hourly deal?? If so that doesn't mean all that much even though it is exciting to see such a debut.

She already has a #1 and will probably score another top 10 with Nightmare. 3 top 10's if she drops another single before her next album and it performs decently enough. That's great. I keep forgetting that Shawn Mendes didn't manage to score a single top 10 record for his last album.

I doubt it. Radio's really shaky at this point and Tyler and Khaled have a good shot at debuting that high.

He didn't drop it with a video and it got a good push on radio. It could have easily grown to reach the top 10, but it didn't.

Could Sweet But Psycho Get Lucky And Join The Top 10 This Week? No

Honestly wasn't expecting a track that jacks the sound from early 2010's pop to succeed in the current music climate, so Sweet But Psycho getting that high is already incredible. However #11 is really one of the worst peaks for a song.
