I do think Katy's more casual/GP oriented fanbase + the long break between her last big hit from Prism (Dark Horse) and her return cause a lot of people to move on to other pop artists who were more active during 2014-2016. Also, Chained To The Rhythm is a decent song to me, but it's kind of like Taylor releasing a song about how love isn't what it's cut out to be and you shouldn't bother thinking about pursuing it in the way it undermines Katy's music and what her fans were there for. And then anyone who she might've won over with the idea of a political album were probably lost when she released Bon Appetit and Swish Swish. Having a political image during a really polarizing time probably didn't help for Katy, but there's definitely other causes that lead to her under-performances in 2016-2019. I think Never Really Over is doing pretty well considering Katy peaked 7-9 years ago though. It's not as big as her Teenage Dream singles obviously but it's still one of the biggest pure pop songs released in the last couple months. Regarding YNTCD, I like how cheeky she comes off, the melody and the way the vocals and production fit together, even if there's certain aspects of the message behind the song that aren't entirely clear/cohesive. Maybe the MV will help clear some things up. The problem with Witness wasnt so much the music as it was... everything else. Her making it a point to call it a political album and then Bon Appetit being the second single. The overall Swish Swish campaign with Youtubers and memes. Her interviews, making jokes about mental breakdowns and shaving her head, not once but multiple times. The Witness livestream. She was just getting on everyone's nerves almost effortlessly. Which is sad because i genuinely liked several songs and the tour was great as per usual!

Not everyone is going to like the song. Do as Taylor claims she has and grow some thicker skin, sis. I could not care less if someone doesn't vibe with the song. My issue is over certain members of the lgbt community being overly critical and cynical of people simply trying to support our plight (and in this instance someone who has the platform to really do some good). This is an issue I have across the board and not an argument specific to Taylor or this song, the discussion just happens to propelled by it. I find it annoying, because it tends to do more harm than good. I don't care if people don't like the song itself. lol I agree so much!!! I do not understand how people are upset by brands and Taylor embracing Pride. I'm not even a real fan of hers. I like some of her songs. I am so thankful that she seems to be using her platform for good. Was she excessively quiet on issues before? Yes. Better late than never. Same with brands. Just because AT&T, Tumblr, Ebay, and whoever changes their logo to rainbow, or sells additional rainbow products doesn't mean they're just using the community and the movement. And honestly, who cares? If it puts more rainbows into circulation, if it makes one LGBTQ+ child feel seen, if it helps one person understand the plight of our community - great! Sell all the rainbows you want. It's so much better this way than it was 10 years ago when Pride was just a parade that was largely unseen or understood by straight people.

I’m sorry I just think this will perform similarly to “ME!” in the Callout scores.

The Song is now #1 on Spotify, The iTunes may not last but the video is out on Monday. There is no need for people to go after Taylor for using the LGBT narrative for this single. Obviously it will help the song in the long run and keep the single going until at least August.Using a narrative for a single is nothing new,Look at Ariana Grande's "Thank U,Next"that had a major narrative upon it's release last year. It looks like this is going to start out strong for a big debut on the charts. It got 6 Million streams on Spotify which is great.

This is gonna be the "Girls Like You" music video for 2019 except this time better with Taylor. This will go #1 just based on video views alone. "Old Town Road" won't have much time left.

I just can’t believe everyone was going crazy about the “ME!” music video Easter eggs when Taylor hinted at an Ellen cameo so explicitly. They really played us.

It's almost certain this will debut at #2, the MV will smash for the first week. Now the following weeks will decide if this will be a "Girls Like You" or a "ME!".

I'm gay and I don't use those words on a real conversation. But you didn’t write a song with them either. And if you did, hopefully you’d ask someone how to use the word “shade” so that you don’t end up sounding like a cool mom trying to be hip. Hey guys, my new song is so yaas, the tea will shade you okurr. I understand where you're coming from but personally I have no issue with her use of these words/expressions. I couldn't care less about it, I do not own them and neither does the gay community. I find it interesting that she's doing a LGBTQ song and is going all out with the use of the expressions but I guess that comes down to personal preference.

Finally listneing:
This is like a Katy Perry song I'm glad she didn't do. It's not bad but the fast-talking portions sound very choppy. I don't think Taylor sounds smooth enough here and I'm surprised it isn't better. I think I like Me! more. This will probably warm on me but I'm not sure. I'll see what else is coming this era I guess.

Sell all the rainbows you want. It's so much better this way than it was 10 years ago when Pride was just a parade that was largely unseen or understood by straight people. I’ll slightly disagree on the brands thing though. I will extremely disagree about brands. A full on political discussion probably isn't the place for this post, but some of those brands selling over-priced rainbow merch turn around and dump tons of money into politicians who are literally and actively trying to chip away at our rights, including rights in marriage, in adoption, and protected rights to employment/anti-discrimination, and also not to mention the ones casually calling for our eradication (using literal words of these people, NOT rumors). I'm not bashing on wanting to buy something rainbow, I'm not judging you if you bought it, I have too in life, and I get that its hard to avoid buying major brands and I like that LGBTQIA kids see more of it today. However, as an adult with more money now, I am MUCH more careful now where my money goes and who exactly is being supported by my purchases, especially thinking about the future I want for those LGBTQIA kids when they grow up. HOWEVER, this isn't what Taylor is doing. It feels genuine to me and I would be shocked if we found out she turned around and gave money to Pence or something. I think it also means more for someone's favorite pop star, as an individual, to come out in support of LGBTQIA especially with her young audience, as opposed to some big corporation selling a 30 dollar rainbow bracelet for exactly one month out of the year. Is it opportunistic? Probably. Is the net gain positive? I believe so. On a completely less serious note, this is also just a much better song than Me! Like, why wasn't this first? Even the lyrics feel so much more Taylor to me by being a little dorky/cringe, but kind of endearing in its dorkiness?

People mentioned in her teaser Ellen Degeneres Ryan Reynolds Ciara Adam Lambert Who are any of the other people Well RuPaul is the most famous drag queen in the world and has a hit TV show. Have you not heard of it? Laverne Cox is a trans actress famous for Orange is the New Black. Jesse Tyler Ferguson is one of the stars of Modern Family. Todrick Hall is basically everything - dancer, choreographer, singer, rapper, actor, drag queen, TV personality, was in Taylor’s video for LWYMMD. Adam Rippon is a world-champion figure skater. Billy Porter is an actor on Pose. All these people are in the LGBTQ community.

If you want to listen to a real great music, you should play MadameX. The lastest records of Katy, Ariana or Taylor are ordinary songs. Do you ever feel like a misfit? Everything inside you is dark and twisted
