Taylor is a front-loaded artist these days. Of course views for this isn't as massive as "Me!". They were never going go be. The hype isn't the same cameos or not. Could they be better? Sure. But they aren't terrible when compared to her peers. Look at the drop from "Look What You Made Me Do" to its subsequent videos. This is far more steady than the other and IMO will accumulate more views in the end. Where "Me!" was a huge debut and quick fizzle, I think this will be a "slow and steady wins the race" situation. Its doing great on every other metric. Things are looking fine as of now.

I wish they had just ignored Me! and released this first. It seems like hype/views and all the initial attention really gets focused on that first single and video and Taylor released something so remarkably average that it was over before it even began. At least this tries to say or do something and it doesn't sound so dated and kid bop.
But, I do think this has a chance to be the slow and steady hit rather than the initial hype hit. Anecdotally, I have seen a LOT more people like this over Me! and the you need to calm down part seems to be a reluctant meme lol.

born Joe1240 👑 Eloquent ™ Love Plastic LoveI think you guys are underestimating how well it's doing on Youtube. Worldwide it's not doing that well, but in the US it's doing great compared to ME! considering it's the second single. First 3 days on Youtube and % change compared to ME! YNTCD Worldwide: 36.5m US: 16.1m (-7.5%) India: 3.08m (-66.6%) Philippines: 2.81m (-53.2%) Brazil: 2.73m (-62.8%) Mexico: 2.19m (-63.8%) UK: 2.08m (-36.4%) Indonesia: 1.90m (-72.6%) Canada: 1.79m (-2.2%) Vietnam: 1.70m (-77.4%) The views from Canada and the United States are almost the same as for ME!, it's the other countries where the video is doing more poorly.

It's not surprising a political song and full of US celebrities isn't doing incredible outside of North America. This is a lot more local than her other songs, Almost 1/3 on her Spotify streams come from the US.

Surprisingly, it's also doing very well in a lot of the anti-LGBT Arab countries, YNTCD in one week already did almost half of what ME! did in two months on Youtube Morocco. It's performing very well compared to ME! in Saudi Arabia (death penalty for homosexuality) and in Pakistan (life imprisonment).

12.29% increase in Portugal. Looks like Pride week in Lisbon is helping this out. Come through queen

Greece keeps stanning Taylor. We deserve rights :sip2:
PS: "ME!" might become one of the biggest radio hits Taylor's had here. I swear it's always on the radio and the video is smashing on our biggest music channel. What the hell.

ME! is also on replay on the portuguese radio even if I still have to find a single soul that likes that song

I have no idea why the music video seems to be struggling so much in Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines btw. Maybe it wasn't promoted as much there or didn't go viral as much because the music video was released while those countries were sleeping? Philippines and Thailand in particular have a lot of fans of her music so I wouldn't expect that it's a case of only listening to the lead single (at least no more so than any other country).

Is Taylor just not a video darling anymore? Even Shawn Mendes has more views and his video was just released.

What are those countries' stances on censorship (particularly in regard to LGBT censorship)? The video could be getting suppressed in those regions.

Yeah, Asia is still far behind when it comes to views on LGBT so that was my first thought. Taiwan is the only place in the entire continent (which is the largest and most populated in the world) where gay marriage is legal. I can't imagine the video Taylor delivered here really caters to that market.

How come no one's talkin' bout these updates!? Slaying. Because we are all too busy jamming out to this song! I am absolutely loving it. I wasn't impressed the first time I heard it but since then it has grown on me immensely. Glad to see it succeeding.

Now this I think could have a chance to reach the top spot near the album release if everything keeps increasing this way.

Who has the record for most #2 DEBUTS? I believe Taylor and Justin Bieber both have 3 #2 debuts, and I don't think anyone has more than that. What about #2 debuts that peak at #2? Because Sorry rose up to #1, so Taylor would have the most #2 debuts that didn't get higher haha.

Bieber actually has 4 (Boyfriend, Sorry, Cold Water, and I Don't Care). 3 of them never reached #1. So he and Taylor are tied for those that didn't go #1 (assuming YNTCD never hits that placement), but he holds the lead for #2 debuts.

So "Cruel Summer" will either be a record-breaking #2 hit or a #1 or a total flop instead. Win-win situation!

This is only Taylor’s second #2 debut. “Today Was a Fairytale” was her first. “You Belong With Me”, “I Knew You Were Trouble”, “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever”, and “Me!” all peaked at #2 but didn’t debut there.

Japan Hot 100: #23 (debut)
Does not chart on Oricon at though (ME! reached #22), which means its points on Billboard were inflated by YouTube, Spotify, and Twitter mentions, as Oricon does not count these, but Billboard Japan does.
