“We’ve Got Nothing But Love to Prove” is a rather unusual song and while it has some high points lyrically I found the idea of turning this into a patriotic song to be a bit off-putting. This was an easy last place for me and I’m still a bit confundled that this was even included on the album.
I liked the easy breezy vibe of “Wish for You” but I did have this pegged as a possible bottom 3 contender even though I don’t think I had put it down if only because I was hoping it might just escape it. Not surprised to see that this did receive some support but also not surprised that this ended up falling somewhere down near the bottom for most.

T.V flashes down the hall Painting pictures on the wall. And you're still sleeping on my knees. And in the glow of silver light, I trace the lines above your eyes. Just another wrinkle that you can blame on me. But I can hear the current of the freeway in the distance If I keep listening. And I wonder if you ever thought of streaming off Somewhere with it. Am I not what you thought? Will you get tired of what you got?

"You Stay With Me" is the next song to leave us, much to the dismay of Lukas and andrewantonio who put it at #4. This song was a bottom 4 contender for most people, which tbh I was a bit disappointed to see... I think that the melody on this song slays, and I would have loved to see it make the album tracks rankdown. That being said, this is one of those songs that I could not identify based on title alone for the longest time, so there must be something about it that caused people to think it was boring. Every time I heard it I was like "Oh YEAH it's THAT song!", but then looking at the tracklist I could never remember what is sounded like until recently.

I knew it was only a matter of time before things went off the rails. Yikes @ this incredible song being out so early. The build in this song is so beautiful. So saddened by all the low ranks. :'(

There's too many nondescript songs on the album with 'you' in the title alongside a few other random non-distinctive words that I think makes them all blend together a little bit. This is the one that really stands out though from the others in terms of actual content imo. :/

When you ask for my forgiveness, When you call my name, I will come. When you ask for my love, I will give you some.
In the morning I will get you up, And I will smile just when you want me to Cause I am all you have.

I am honestly SHOCKED that "If You Ask" didn't do well enough to make the album tracks rankdown... Several people mentioned this as a favorite album track when the Faith Hill rankdown happened, so I expected this to do pretty well. But nope, here we are! This song had #11 on lock for practically the entire submission process. I can totally see why this song might be boring to some. This one has a fairly unique vocal arrangement, and honestly doesn't have a lot of build to it. This would be a very difficult song to sing well, because it is relentlessly low-to-mid-range. Definitely would not have made a good single. Fortunately, Faith has just enough soul to pull it off, and turns in a very compelling performance imo. Unfortunately, we did not collectively find this to be one of the shinier moments on this album. Everybody put it in the back half of the album except taylor is terrified who put it at #3, and then a slurry of #7 ranks.

I don’t know the album well enough to have participated, but Fireflies and Stealing Kisses are career highs imo.

iREFUSE to do an Album Tracks rankdown if Paris doesn’t make the cut. Fortunately, every album track that remains has made the album tracks rankdown Now it's just a question of which order they finish...

ClevelandRox kicks off the top 10 with the very first #1 loss of the rankdown... This song was all over the place throughout submissions. It was always anywhere between #5 and #10, and seemingly changed with every submission! Most people placed it in the middle of their list, but it got enough low ranks to finish in the back half of the middle of this rankdown. Personally, I have always loved this song! The way it starts sounding like a ballad, but builds until it is basically the fastest song on the entire album, is so cool. Plus the vocal arrangement is chillingly beautiful. If you can listen to this and not get that falsetto ditty stuck in your head, I'm not sure I want to know you!

Up next: the most polarizing song on the album!!!!!
By the way, I forgot to mention that 8 of the songs in the top 10 have at least one #1 rank. So we're hitting the #1s pretty heavily for the next little bit ;) At #9 we have the first multi-#1 loss!!

The train pulled into Paris Like a rocket to the moon. The station's like a circus, Every face is a cartoon. And everyone's stoned on pride And drunk on cheap champagne. Tonight this joie de vivre Sure don't live up to its name.

Ugh, I hate having to say goodbye to "Paris" already. This song is one of my favorite vocal performances of Faith's entire career. She sounds absolutely captivating as she navigates all the intricacies of this hella complex song She manages to sound both conversational and lonely at the same time, and her vibrato cuts through the highs and lows of this song with surgical precision. Every single note of this masterpiece is mesmerizing! The thing is, this would be a really difficult song to draw people into. It is long, it is slow, it has a few weird French words, it has lyrics that don't make easy sense... The fact that Faith is able to make this a song that draws people in is a perfect example of what a capable vocalist she is! In the hands of a less capable vocalist, I could see this being kinda boring. However, Faith gives this song a touch of soul and personality that makes it stand out as a career highlight, imo. This song was the most polarizing song on the album. Everybody either put it in their top 6...or bottom 3 Literally NO middling ranks for this one!!! taylor is terrified and SHOOTER lose their #1, while ClevelandRox, Troublemaker, and George Strait Junkie all lose their last place.

Also, SHOOTER found this blurb about songwriter Troy Verges talking about what the heck "Paris" is even about! Enjoy! “‘Paris’ was written in London while we were writing songs for Gordie’s record. We had just finished writing the last song and it was Bastille Day, so we decided we should go to Paris for just one day. We partied until late in the night, and around three in the morning we went to get in a cab to go home and a fight broke out in the cab line. And for the only time in my life, I ended up getting in this fight and got knocked out cold. My nose was broken, my face a bloody mess. I woke up in an ambulance on the way to the public hospital in Paris, and my friends lost me because they didn’t have the address…. The next morning, I walked around Paris trying to find my friends and we finally get on the train back to London and I’m covered in bandages, my nose is broken and I look like I had just killed someone. We got back to London and started writing ‘Paris.’ It sounds like a love song, because that’s just the way the lyrics came out, but it was about that night. Faith heard it and thought it was a love song, so we were kind of scared to tell her the real story behind that song.”

We'll follow up that painful "Paris" elimination with one that is basically going to be equally painful Another multi-#1 loss! I think some people will be shocked to see the next one leave already!!! A few people, however, will be SO happy... (Including the two who put this in last place...) I present to you, the second-most polarizing song of the album!

Before you met me, I was a fairy princess. I caught frogs and called them prince And made myself a queen. Before you knew me I traveled 'round the world. And I slept in castles And fell in love, Because I was taught to dream.

That's right, the title track becomes the next song to leave us! This song got a TON of support. #1s from both Lukas and Troublemaker , and a top 6 ranking from half the participants. However, it also received a slurry of bottom 5 ranks from the remaining half of the participants, including a last place rank from taylor is terrified and yours truly... My last place rank for this honestly is more of a case of "something had to be last" rather than any particular distaste for this song. Similar to "Wish For You", this song has a very sparse arrangement that doesn't really go anywhere... However, this one has really cheesy, childish lyrics on top of it, which I believe is what pushed this into last for me. Of course the song is about the power of children's' imaginations, and how important it is to let them play and dream, but tbh the whole song is just so specific that it loses a bit of its impact, at least in my opinion. I can definitely see why people love this one though! I would have preferred to see it miss out on the album tracks rankdown in favor of "If You Ask", but since so many people love it I guess it is a good thing that it made it in.

Blegh @ the title cut beating "Paris." That Disney fairytale fluff is cute for what it is, but over the magic of "Paris"?! Mess. I'm glad "I Want You" is finally out though. That was easily the least memorable song on the album for me. Kept forgetting how it went.
The vocal performance on "Paris" is one of the finest moments she's had on record. It's an absolutely GORGEOUS song and her voice couldn't be more perfect on it. She totally slayed that song and you can tell listening to it that it's something that took a lot of skill to get right, which she did. The note she hits on the beginning of the But tonight I can't give you Paris line (on the word "tonight") gives me literal chills. Ugh. I can't believe there are tasteless hoes who listened to this album and could even fathom it as one of its weakest offerings.
