We debated this on the country board a few years back (I want to say it was with regard to a certain song, maybe CAM's "Burning House," hitting #1) and discovered based on available evidence that the charts are official on 12/22 and 12/29. They just don't have recurrent rules applied.

Edit: In looking back, now you have me reconsidering the ambiguity. Country Aircheck definitely doesn't seem to count the break weeks (there's a line about a certain song having the most airplay during a non-official chart week), but there are indications that Mediabase does. A key piece of evidence is the official Mediabase chart; if you look at the late December charts, you'll see that the "weeks on" increase even during the break.

Some other evidence:

- This line from the AllAccess/Mediabase Chart Recap Email in early January: PANIC! AT THE DISCO hold the top spot with "High Hopes" for a fifth straight week Top 40 (it would only be 5 weeks at that point if you include the break weeks)

- That same email says that Ella Mai's "Trip" is the only debut; yet there were songs that reached the Top 40 (including 1999, So Easy and Hurts Like Hell) during the break. So, if the break charts didn't count, they should have been identified as debuts as well.

This song’s campaign is just so refreshing to see for so many reasons. They truly have taken advantage of every opportunity to get the song out there, Dua herself has clearly been working her ass off to improve her stage presence (to great effect), and every performance is a fresh new take instead of the same thing over and over again (not to mention she’s looked stunning every time, new celeb crush). The song is awesome too and Dua is so talented and seems very down to earth, so I really hope all the hard work pays off for this.

I agree with everyone about how refreshing it is so see a pop single being pushed so heavily and really the whole set up of her sophomore campaign.
