They need to focus on this song and then when it peaks then move on to physical not everyone can have 2 singles out without one of them flopping. While I agree with this sentiment in general, I feel that this was a moot point as soon as DSN hit #1. Anything sent now would be rising as DSN is falling so it's not really the same effect as say, The Weekend pushing Blinding Lights and Heartless up at the same time. I'm hoping Physical doesn't end up being an Ariana/Into You situation, where it slightly underperforms simply due to the single before it lingering too long and her team moving on to the single after it too quickly. That's hardly the worst fate for a song - Into You was a top 10 pop/top 20 Hot 100 hit, not a flop by any means - but still, Physical deserves better than that. What's the spin record again? I know it's over 19k but not sure of the actual number. Lizzoβs βTruth Hurtsβ - 19991 It depends on how you feel about afternoon updates, which sometimes has small variations from the morning ones. The highest morning update was 19,993 (9/21/19), but then on 10/2/19, Mediabase reflected the previous week's spin count as 20,012 (meaning the afternoon update for 9/25/19 must have been adjusted upward - incidentally 9/25 is the day the morning update was 19,991). The official/published record is 19,968 (9/22/19). Today's small positive is probably a sign that DSN will slow down before coming near that record, but it could still crack 19k. |
