I couldn’t find an album thread, but just have to say this album sounds incredibly promising. Launching fresh off a number 1 hit with a superstar duet version killing it, and then the latest early release “Got Me” is incredible - stunning. Can’t wait for this album, she’s looking poised to be the next female superstar in country music, so cool to watch! I totally hear Carrie’s style in her music a bit, anyone else?
Turns out the “Idol” after life thing ABC’s staying afloat with produced a superstar after all!

Since she doesn't have an artist thread, guess I'll just go ahead and put it here.
I just went to her website and bought the CD and vinyl of Goldmine! By doing so, I was given a digital download of the album as well as instant grats of each song heard so far. AS WELL as an untitled track, which means we'll be getting at least one more promo single before June 19!
The CD will apparently be shipping on June 17, arriving just in time for me to listen on release day. The vinyl is still in the process of being made, and won't ship until September 2. Happy to be supporting a wonderful new voice in country music!
OH but also...the CD is SIGNED!!!!!!!!

Apparently, it's going for pop adds on june 2. Yep. The Charlie Puth remix just went for adds at Hot Adult Contemporary this week, and it has an adds date for CHR on June 2nd. It's top 50 on HAC as of today's update: HOT AC52 48 GABBY BARRETT I Hope 155 64 91 0.500 + 22 spins + 15 bullet + 0.067 audience

Look forward to seeing Gabby top 40 in pop and hot AC.

They charted on hot ac but didn’t get particular high and she hasn’t broken into the hot 100

So happy this is doing well. As for Maddie, I used to like her but her bitterness on social media makes her so unlikeable

I'm not a fan of her at all, but I wish her well, I guess? I'm not going to be sorry that Maddie won though.
I hope Laine Hardy can find some success like this himself, since I actually like him.

That entire season (the last one I watched), Gabby appeared to be the only one who had a shot at some mainstream success. Listening to recent interviews and such, it’s evident to me that she hit the ground running immediately after ‘Idol’ - she started networking and increasing her social media and digital music footprint, and it’s paying off in big ways. She’s already made a name for herself without having an album out (yet). She has set herself up with a strong support base (like Idol’s viewership alone used to accomplish before social media). With every step so far she has impressed me very much. She seems business oriented and has the talent to back it up. I wasn’t a major fan or anything during the show, but I just think she has a spark the others from her season don’t. I also think she benefitted from not winning, which gave her more decision-making control right from the start.

I liked her and Maddie in their season; but both my partner and I thought gabby had the most star power. I’m really glad she’s getting all this success.
Maddie has had some justified reasons to be upset with idol, but she upped the bitterness too much for my liking. Still, her tiny success was more than what several idol winners could achieved so some minimum recognition was in order IMO. I hope Laine and Alejandro get some success, too. Surprised that no major news have come from them yet.

Something that really sticks out to me with Gabby is she is very articulate in interviews. She was clearly ready after idol just needed to find the right songs. Funny how they have left Maddie off the finale tomorrow while having so many back. Gabby would not be here had she won. I don’t expect much out of Laine because of the label. It’s interesting though they are allowing him to go through the process of finding himself and not rushing music. He is so green with such little experience. Gabby was the same age but she was very experienced and knew how to get where she wanted to go.

As expected, this is smashing. I fully expect to hear this in high rotation across country and pop formats through the summer. She has set herself up for a potentially massive career. Well done, Gabby!

The way this song continues to smash well after its radio peak. We love to see it! It's such a great song, she's such a great vocalist, and I agree that if the cards continue to be played right, she'll have herself a Carrie Underwood, Reba McEntire, etc. level of success down the road.
EDIT: No one said THAT lol, but someone said "potentially massive" and I equate massive with the likes of Carrie and Reba.

I am shocked so many people think Gabby Barrett has one of the best voices in the genre, and she has caught on as much as she had. While I don't think she is untalented, among all the female artists in the mainstream country music scene she is pretty middle of the road for me, not bad but not great. Happy she is succeeding because I do want more women to succeed but I won't lie and say I wish this level of success was going to other mainstream females if only a few females were able to breakthrough.

That is quite a statement! And while i think it’s way too premature to say that (at least in my opinion), Gaby is going to have to play an incredible number of hands and cards right just to get to half of the level Carrie and Reba (I actually think Reba is quite a few levels up from Carrie but she is for sure on her way there). This is nothing against Gaby (or you) but the careers Reba and Carrie have had only come around once every 20-25 years I think. I feel like some artists in between them have been huge for a while (Shania, Faith), none have the longevity and resume of Reba and Carrie. Disclaimer: With the exception of Gaby, who I don’t know enough about, I love every artist in this post I mentioned. Not looking to compare woman - more so just talk about how legendary Reba and Carrie are.

I thought Gabby was the best on her season of AI and definitely got hooked on "I Hope" and her other song "The Good Ones". Im very curious to see what the rest of her album sounds like as i feel like it could be a make or break kind of album for her
As the biggest Carrie fan for the past 15 years I cant help but to clearly compare the similarities of their career paths. From Idol, to smash cheating song to a religious song ( Jesus Take the Wheel, Got Me) It seems Gabby's team is trying to mimic Carrie's career and it seems to be working so far

Her voice is good, but it’s this song that helped to really make her work right now. This was just an undeniable smash, and an amazing way to break an artist. Some of the other ladies are good, but their songs are just OK. Ingrid was another one her song just couldn’t be ignored. When you heard it, you took notice. That’s what you need to get a hit as a new female (artist, really). Compare that to lackluster at best debut and follow up songs from Lauren, Runaway June, Carly (Hide The Wine), some of whom are more vocally talented than Gabby, and it’s easy to see this song was the right song to connect with listeners and stand out from the pack.

I suppose I just don't hear what is so special in her either vocally or song wise, but I will full on admit I am in the vast vocal minority when it comes to this song and Gabby Barrett as an artist. Like I am more shocked that the general public stuck with her instead of the other ladies. Also thank you for pointing out the 3 female acts I have championed for the last 5 or so years the most and their single choices, I never saw anything wrong with those single choices but I know you disagree there as well. No offense. I blame the general public not liking or connecting with those songs more than anything since it does seem like country radio does like all 3 of Runaway June, Lauren Alaina, and Carly Pearce especially. At the end of the day though taste in music is a personal preference and in the eyes of the beholder, what one person finds mediocre to terrible ("Hide The Wine" for you, and for me "I Hope") another person can find completely great (me with most of Lauren Alaina's material, and the general public in regards to "I Hope"). I am just a bit selfish and wish the music I love would be more successful.

I am just a bit selfish and wish the music I love would be more successful. I knew you were a big fan of Lauren but I didnt really realize the other two, so I am sorry it came off that way. I was saying Runaway June FINALLY got a hit, and then instead of releasing a fantastic song that would be different for them and the genre (like they are now with We Were Rich), they went with a song I still can't remember the melody to. They needed to do something that was a "WOW" moment. Carly had one of the best and unique debut singles, like I mentioned the other two (Ingrid and Gabby) had, but followed that up with Hide The Wine instead of Whiskey or Careless, and then Closer To You was not a good song. She's back on top partly because Luke Combs wrote it and partly because it stands out (sounds like 90s country ). Lauren's albums/EPs are great and she needs better management to choose her singles. It wasn't directed at you, I know we have had differences before but this one wasn't a dig. They were just female artists I cannot believe the single choices for.

From Idol, to smash cheating song to a religious song ( Jesus Take the Wheel, Got Me) It seems Gabby's team is trying to mimic Carrie's career and it seems to be working so far Yeah, but you can’t take the blueprint for someone else’s career and turn it into your own. Carrie Underwood is a legitimate artist; she was not manufactured by the industry, and if she had been, she’d have peaked a long time ago. Without artistic ingenuity to support a musician’s evolution, they can only offer so much for so long. Gabby seems to be cultivating her own artistic identity, and that is separate from Carrie without a doubt. Carrie-level success and broadened exposure doesn’t come along very often. Comparing the two at this stage is really futile and places Gabby in a poor light, because such implicitly declares that she doesn’t have her own artistic inclinations, As unpopular as this may be, there‘a a part of me that can see this being a flash-in-the-pan, smashing success and subsequent singles may perform well, but not much to massively raise Gabby‘a profile.

I think comparisons to Carrie Underwood are natural, but do not always add much to the discussion (see early comparisons of Carrie Underwood and Lauren Alaina; Taylor Swift and Kelsea Ballerini, etc.). We tend to do this with female artists rather exclusively. In the video posted above, Lindsey Sterling directly asks Gabby about being compared to Carrie and she gives great insight about how it affects her artistry.
I do believe we are witnessing the next breakout country star. I watched Season 16 of American Idol, and was not particularly a fan of her on the show, but there is something undeniable about Gabby Barrett. A close friend of mine participated in that season and they said, even among the contestants, it was clear Gabby had the greatest star power. Her social media following was far beyond any other contestant and her fanbase remained strong post-show. Combine all of that with a hit like "I Hope" that captivates audiences (see any live video of this song, the crowd knows every word even when she's the opening act) and you have a star.
Performance of "The Good Ones" is as consequential for Gabby's success as any sophomore single is. However, its streams are quite strong and has sold fairly well since its release. I do believe it will do well as it sonically fits right in with the Maren Morris "GIRL" era sound. Its greatest challenge, however, will be overcoming "I Hope" recurrent play... it is oh so slowly falling from the chart.

I have to agree Her voices doesn’t resonate with me. The song is catchy but it always amazes me what takes off like this. The same goes for What If it’s a good song but it still is in the top 100 country songs on iTunes still. That kind of success can not be explained. As for her future who knows, I thought Cam and burning house would have launched her but not really. I predict a good add day for the Good ones but after that not so sure. Also strange albums release time They must have been unable to get it out in time for I hope at its height of play. Other then that she seems to be managed pretty well.
