Really it’s hard to predict success for women artist in country and really how do you measure success with the general lack of radio play for females. I look at how the artist draws at a concert, where they are in the lineup, streaming numbers, sales numbers , radio play is last until more equity is present. Gabby had a huge hit and is off to a nice start but only time will tell if she has staying power.

How is the Good ones doing. So far I don’t think it’s charted yet. "The Good Ones" debuted 2 weeks ago at #59 on Billboard. Last week it held the same position, #59. Hopefully it will start gaining ground soon.

I Hope is #1 again on the Billboard Country Streaming Chart with 13.5 million streams. What a smash hit!

I’m curious to see what her week 2 SPS is. I wouldn’t at all be surprised to see sales plus streaming consistent in the 15-18k range.

Also, unrelated, but with "The Bones" having peaked on CHR and beginning its descent and "I Hope" still just taking off over there, I hope that in the coming weeks there might (finally) be a chance that Gabby can snatch the #1 on HCS chart from Maren! Not a knock, but it seems slightly surreal ridiculous that the conversation about the hot country charts, revolves around movement on the Adult contemporary charts.

Kinda adding to this late, but for those that were worried that the sales were a bit low for Goldmine upon debut: Morgan Wallen's album started with pitiful sales of less than 3,000 copies two years ago... and lately it's been sitting pretty at #2 on the chart right behind Luke Combs and since produced one of the biggest country hits of the year in both 2019 ("Whiskey Glasses") and 2020 ("Chasin' You"). I see her future success as being pretty parallel to his: both albums have/will be (in Gabby's case) propelled by their streaming impact to stardom.
Also, in other news, this one is now currently top 20 on both the HAC (Adult Pop) and AC (Adult Contemporary) charts and #25 on CHR (Pop), with it rising quickly and likely aiming for top 20 there as well within a few weeks.

Can I also say how amazing and cool it is that 2 of the biggest country hits of the year are by solo women

Ooh, not quite imo. My point was moreso that "The Bones" and "I Hope" are the Top 2 of success this year in country music, and while "Bluebird" has certainly been big I can think of at least 5 songs that have been bigger than "Bluebird" this year (2 already mentioned. "Chasin You", "Nobody But You", "Hard To Forget", "10,000 Hours", "One Margarita", arguably "I Hope You're Happy Now"). I think among solo female songs "Bluebird" is 3rd in terms of impact by solo women but among all of country music I don't think it is quite on the level of the other songs I mentioned, still a really big hit nonetheless and I realize I am really getting into the semantics here. But overall in 2020 I would say country music has had it's biggest year since 2014 in terms of commercial impact because holy shit there have been a lot of big hits this year, and I suspect we should still have a few more still to come.

Lol, well you said 2 "of" the biggest hits not "the" 2 biggest hits of country music this year, so that was your mistake if you literally meant that as far as country hits go that "The Bones" and "I Hope" were #1 and #2 for 2020 (and I wouldn't say that's quite accurate either tbh -- "10,000 Hours" is at the very least a bit bigger than "I Hope"). That said, crossover success propelled both of them to be as huge as they are currently, too. "Bluebird" won't have that in its favor, but it will 100% land in the same echelon as all the other songs you just listed (it has been hovering just below Sam Hunt on iTunes for most of their runs the past few months) whenever it peaks in the next month or so. It is also definitely going down as a bigger hit than Carly's song too, just saying. It will out-peak it soon and I doubt radio drops it outright like a rock the way they did Carly's due to the poor testing. My point is more so that I think we can agree that the ladies are killing it this year though, regardless of what female song is biggest. Ingrid's song, despite coming up a bit short with her chart peaks due to heavy competition, is also in contention for having one of the bigger hits of 2020 as well. This is easily the best year for women since the 2010-2012 range before bro-country took over.

Anyone know how the album sales plus streams was in week 2? It’s not in the Top 50 on hits daily double.

The debut on Rolling Stone was a little bit higher than on Billboard (19.3k sold, although one spot lower), so there might be a slight difference but probably more than 7k anyways.

The fact that at the end of the year, likely many of the biggest songs will be from women is incredible to me. Maren, Gabby, Miranda, Carly, Ingrid, even Maddie & Tae perhaps, will all easily come to mind. Not to mention the amount of women supported on the charts and getting close to or hitting #1. Considering the majority of the 2010s decade, it almost feels surreal.

Not to mention Top 10 hits from Carrie Underwood and probably Ashley McBryde in addition to female features that had Gwen Stefani and Reba/Hillary Scott, and songs with female vocals like Lady A "What If I Never Get Over You", and I wouldn't be shocked if songs featuring females in "One Beer" and "Champagne Night" also are decent sized hits by the end of the year.

I’m curious to see what her week 2 SPS is. I wouldn’t at all be surprised to see sales plus streaming consistent in the 15-18k range. 2nd week SPS are predicted (by Rolling Stones) to be around 7k. It's really hard to like Gabby Barrett knowing her family are racists and she has chosen to remain silent. She is also a big MAGA supporter.

I’m a Maga supporter. But this isn’t a political board. This is a music board and I happen to be a big Gabby fan.

Sometimes it’s best to keep the peace rather then run your mouth and be the topic of the news and burn bridges with family. So I’m not gonna no be a fan because of that. That’s her personal business I only care about the music.

If you like people for their music, what does your claim about her being a good Christian girl and her love for Jesus matter?
Would you support someone's music if they did not follow your religious beliefs?

No I’m not but I don’t view gabby as racist But you said Sometimes it’s best to keep the peace rather then run your mouth and be the topic of the news and burn bridges with family. In this case, keep the peace means not speaking out against racists to avoid being the topic of the news. So you’re saying it’s better keeping the peace for white people but those targeted by racists don’t.
