Lil Nas X releasing the shortened music video proves that he knows when his song is felt threatened on the charts and does something to keep him on the top. And solidify its 17th week at #1.

There's no need to downplay Lil Nas X's success: it's extraordinary what kind of song he made a hit: a country flavored urban track.. He's far more interesting than "just another Fetty Wap" which of course doesn't mean that people won't consider him anything else but a "one hit wonder" in 20 years time despite him having 3 top 40 hits already. But let's at least give him an opportunity to prove otherwise.
However, I don't want him to break the record as I am not the biggest fan of the track and how the Youtube streaming in particular are giving OTR the advantage that is basically impossible to get for a regular hit.

Nothing he makes can ever be as successful as OTR and I think he knows it. So apparently Tiktok makes hits now, so they’ll find another song to meme and artist to make a one hit wonder. They’re already doing it with Blanco Brown. Nothing any artist releases is likely to be as successful as OTR hence why it’s in the running to break an all-time chart record. Although the performance of this song will probably make him one of the most memorable and replicated new artists of the year. See: the (other) country trap song number one on iTunes right now.

The remixes to Old Town Road would not work if people were not interested Despacito was 'quality' to somebody since it stayed on top for 16 weeks
I am sure there are many out there that find 'One Sweet Day' not quality

He's gonna break the record. Reconcile that within yourself now because it's gonna happen. And also, Fetty Wap scored other hits before he finally faded out. His album had at least 3 hits apart from Trap Queen. The point was that he was never able to replicate the success of Trap Queen and people got to know his biggest hit before they got to know him as an artist. That's exactly what'll happen to Lil Nas X. No one will care about Panini or any other "hit" he scores in the future because none of them will be as big as Old Town Road. Look at Luis Fonsi. Whenever people hear his name, they think of Despacito. He's still putting out songs that are doing well, but do you see the same audience that kept Despacito at the top for that long caring about any of those songs? No. He's forever the Despacito guy, which isn't a bad thing on its own, but it's less than ideal if you're an artist who wants to build a real legacy.

Yet, while everyone here who calls him desperate out of some effort to diminish his attempts and achievements because they’re bothered by the success of a song they themselves don’t like, Lil Nas is living his best life and having the best time doing it. Some of you could learn a thing or two from him. I know I wish I could have as much fun as it looks like he is right now.

Spotify Totals- July 12-18 Bad Guy: 12,804,878 Old Town Road: 12,520,010
I'd think OTR will have the overall streaming advantage, by a comfortable margin. "Bad Guy": will have the airplay advantage, though not as large as what Mediabase suggests. OTR may eke out BG in sales, too, though perhaps not by a big margin.

This small gap may not even exist since we don't know the numbers for Diplo remix. I'm not saying they are high as hell (commercially it's the weakest remix of the song) but even daily 40k streams could help at this point. Kworb's data on this week's sales: Old Town Road ~41k Bad Guy ~36.5k

Tbh, I think people should've been more angry when Girls Like You was #1 for 7 weeks with overwhelming amount of radio play.

I got a sinking feeling that Panini is gonna go #1 next, with the video on the way and a likely remix it just seems inevitable.

IDK how to feel about this. Why? You don't like Majid Jordan or you don't like Khalid? I like Majid Jordan, but haven't been an adovate for their "recent" sound. Khalid's voice can be a bit boring at times. IDK how the two will mesh. Lol

It probably is, same thing happened (idk for sure) two days ago, there was an "Unknown Artist sings 'Old Town Road'" at #5. Apparently Kworb can't handle the amount of Old Town Road videos released this week anymore lol.

IDK how the two will mesh. Lol Majid Jordan are special to me because while they have the skill set to make generic pop songs, they don't. They're very experimental. Their first two albums are really good and they're yet to start their next era. Khalid's voice is a bore, too. I completely agree with you on that, but production always helps him out on that end. Majid Jordan don't collab alot so I'm open to it.
