Well... I think 70 points is enough to say that we won't have a new #1 this week. There was never any doubt for anyone looking at it rationally.

Maybe #LisaRinna was thinking about this version. When I first read your post, I thought the same.

Well... I think 70 points is enough to say that we won't have a new #1 this week. There was never any doubt for anyone looking at it rationally. By those words I meant that during the first days of tracking week, bad guy had a healthy lead over OTR on Spotify/Apple Music. Yeah, it was almost confirmed that OTR will stay at #1 for 16th week yet I felt the excitement just like with every chart hahah.

Then what is kworb reporting? And how is the "bad guy" remix not even in the top 100 for its first full week? Things aren't adding up.

He's reading the data from the weekly "top songs" chart: charts.youtube.com/charts/TopSongs/us/20190712-20190718I don't know how he's doing the daily chart because there's no daily chart on YouTube Charts.

It's kind of impossible to accurately predict the bottom half of the chart because there's less data available, and all the songs are closer in points than, say, #1 and #2. Which is why I think Simon posts only a few highlights.
Re: OTR it's been fairly obvious since the second day of the tracking week that it was gonna get the top spot again. The BG remix was effectively countered by the Mason remix, and then YouTube sealed the deal.

It's gonna be hilarious if Sunflower outlasts yet another Post single in the top 10 next week. Also cool if it ties/breaks the top 10 record eventually.

July 26, 196901 01 In The Year 2525 - Zager & Evans (3rd of 6 weeks at #1)02 04 Crystal Blue Persuasion - Tommy James & The Shondells 03 02 Spinning Wheel - Blood, Sweat & Tears 04 09 My Cherie Amour - Stevie Wonder 05 05 What Does It Take - Jr. Walker & The All Stars 06 03 Good Morning Starshine - Oliver 07 06 One - Three Dog Night 08 08 The Ballad Of John & Yoko - The Beatles 09 14 Baby I Love You - Andy Kim 10 10 Love Theme From Romeo And Juliet - Henry Mancini & His Orchestra 50 years ago, on Sunday, July 20th, 1969, men first walked on the moon. And anybody who had access to a TV set at the time was watching it live as it happened. It was one of those moments that you will always remember if you happened to live through it. The #1 song that week was somewhat appropriate; while the Apollo 11 astronauts were making history bouncing around on the lunar surface, back here on earth, "In The Year 2525" by singing/guitar playing duo Zager and Evans, which depicts a pretty bizarre view of the next 10,000 years of history, was making history on the Billboard Hot 100 as the #1 single in the country. The song was an immediate smash. Entering the Hot 100 on June 21st, 1969, and taking only 3 more weeks to top the chart. It stayed there for a total of 6 weeks. The only other notable thing about the song or the duo Zager and Evans is that they have become one of the biggest examples of a One-Hit-Wonder in chart history. After "In The Year 2525", they never entered the Hot 100 again.

I still say that One Sweet Day being at #1 for 16 weeks is more impressive than Despacito or Old Town Road. One Sweet Day didnt need a remix or YouTube streams. Sorry, but this is a ridiculous statement.

chartfreak- I don't know if it's a "ridiculous" statement, though this much is true- from inception, "One Sweet Day" had paired two of the most successful pop/R&B acts at the time. Thus, it was bound to be a big hit, and didn't need any added chart power.

chartfreak- I don't know if it's a "ridiculous" statement, though this much is true- from inception, "One Sweet Day" had paired two of the most successful pop/R&B acts at the time. Thus, it was bound to be a big hit, and didn't need any added chart power. It’s ridiculous in that streaming nor YouTube existed back then so of course OSD didn’t need either to break the record.

^Yes. OSD also had larger sales totals than either of those two singles at its peak. Can't really compare and say something's more impressive, just because a component wasn't around at that time.
Last week's kworb airplay stats had "Bad Guy" ahead of "Old Town Road": by almost 23 million, with the Nielsen Music gap at 14m. Thus, the NM airplay gap this week may be ~ 26m-30m.

Sorry, but this is a ridiculous statement. Leonagwen's statement makes clear the problem with comparing chart feats from different eras - they aren't playing the same game. Times change, as do ways that songs are consumed and popularized, and the tools available for chart success. That part is true for sure. Back in those days I’d say it was easier for label manipulation whereas nowadays the chart is more user-driven - as much as Billboard will allow.
