Its longevity will be the only thing to dethrone it.

I think it's open season on the #1 spot in Old Town Road's 18th week. Anybody with a strong single will be able to steal the spot from then.

The iTunes sales are not what's keeping its points so damn high, though. It's the incredibly bloated YouTube numbers. It's literally normal or falling in every other component imaginable. Kids spamming it on YouTube almost certainly is to blame for that. To be more precise, spamming the memes. The YT views of the original plus the remix videos don't even come close.

Stop attacking Bazzi it not his fault paradise flopped it had great streaming but corrupt radio refused to play it Where exactly did it have great streaming? I see a #20 peak on Spotify, which definitely isn't anything to sneeze at, but that's because it was on Today's Top Hits at one point and overall its streaming seems to have been pretty poor. It looks like it spent one week on On-Demand Songs at #44 and failed to ever make Streaming Songs. I can't find where it even made Digital Songs either. Radio absolutely is not corrupt for not spinning it much if there seems to be little interest in it. Especially coming off of his past hits. I mean, pop currently has it at its peak of #30 and still gaining. That's pretty impressive given it's only #68 on Spotify, #211 on Apple Music, and #171 on iTunes. Radio is definitely giving it a chance. Besides, the criticism of Bazzi in this thread (a whole one person) was for how he's recreating the same sounding material over and over, not really making fun of him for flopping.

Something tells me this can dethrone "Old Town Road". Lmao if Taylor Swift, Shawn Mendes, Camila Cabello, Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber and Post Malone couldn't dethrone it why would you think Nicki Minaj could, especially after Megatron megaflopped to #97 in it's third week.

Also, he might have one moderate hit and one song that did okay but everyone has now forgot about, but that doesn't make him a radio darling. It's Bazzi, not Ed Sheeran. He's far from an artist radio is itching for. So, again, its current #30 peak on pop radio is good. Not sure why you're itching to call it so doom and gloom but simultaneously want to claim it's not a flop. Weird. And finally, you once again are ignoring the actual point of the initial criticism: the quality of his singles, not the success. Just wanna cause drama, huh? Enough. I'm not about to be dragged into an argument with a brick wall because you refuse to comprehend how radio works. Back under the bridge with you.

Spotify numbers (for Friday)
bad guy - 845 389
bad guy Remix - 793 755
Old Town Road Remix - 746 697
Old Town Road Remix - 515 170
Old Town Road - 363 835
In total:
bad guy - 1 639 144 (+85 786)
Old Town Road - 1 625 702 (+92 544)
The Diplo Remix is gaining globally about 300k streams every day. Probably about 20-30% of it is from the US (just like it happens to be with the original version and BRC remix). It may be even larger since this one hasn't really succeeded outside the US but who knows.

Something tells me this can dethrone "Old Town Road". Is Nicki really that relevant? A remix of the #2 song likely won’t do it with Justin Bieber, who is arguably much more popular than Nicki.

If it gets 17 weeks it will be the longest running #1 on any chart that feeds the Hot 100 since The Goo Goo Dolls went 18 weeks at #1 with Iris What was that song that topped the Country charts for almost all of 2018?

'Meant to Be', Hot Country Songs does not feed the Hot 100, that is more the opposite. I meant the sales, airplay and streaming charts which together make up this chart. I was technically wrong anyway. What Time Is It from High School Musical topped the Sales chart for 28 weeks (a record for that chart) - sales volume was small enough to not impact much. Iris is still the last longer than 16 weeks song that impacted anything pulsemusic.proboards.com/thread/186686/hot-singles-sales-1991-2017

I'm thinking Shawn and Camila could pose more of a threat for this week. "Senorita" will surely pass OTR in airplay, its streaming is consistently good and even the YT numbers are good.

Old Town Road is the Fortnite of music This makes a lot of sense. It’s way too big and overshadows everything else, it’s a mediocre product, children like it, it’ll be forgotten within a year or two. Lil Nas X, if you’re reading this, do a collab with Fortnite! Even though I personally am not a fan of the song and it's definitely a momentary fad, I kind of feel that even after it's run is over, it won't be forgotten anytime soon, it's just gotten too big for that. I think a song with a similar situation to this would be the Macarena, a huge record-tying #1 at it's time that sparked a huge meme/dance craze, and this song certainly wasn't forgotten quickly.

Do we know how many of those streams/views are US based? You can check it here. It has Senorita at #2. Kworb got kinda messy with the OTR views but it still shows almost 3 million views from only two videos of the song. We can't forget about four more MVs for this song (sounds crazy at this point), although it is still garnening a lot of views from user-generated videos.

Do we know how many of those streams/views are US based? 20-25%... it seems like it has some UGC (like OTR/BG have). I think Señorita is 2-3 weeks away from being a #1 contender because it's gaining slowly in overall points (good airplay gains, stable sales, stable-to-moderate losses in streams).

To be more precise, spamming the memes. The YT views of the original plus the remix videos don't even come close. That's true. Even its YouTube numbers from the official sources are only slightly elevated, it's the user generated content that's blasting it so much. At least it's not as bad as "Harlem Shake," though. I haven't actually seen too many of these user-generated videos. Do most of them actually use most of the song, or just short clips of it as a background to the meme, kind of a la Harlem Shake? If the latter is the case, it doesn't seem like they should count towards the Hot 100 should they? (I know this is a question I should've asked in like week one, but whatev...)
