This is Bad Guy's 19th week top 10 too. Correct me if wrong, but I don't think a song has ever reached #1 for a first time after spending so many weeks top 10 prior. Yes. You’re correct. Prior to “Bad Guy”, Vertical Horizon’s “Everything You Want” spent 12 weeks in the top 10 before hitting #1 for 1 week in July 2000. Before that... Ini Kamoze’s “Here Comes The Hotstepper” spent 10 weeks in the top 10 before hitting #1 for 2 weeks in December 1994. didn't Girls Like You had like 15 weeks in the top 10 before going #1? Bad Guy still took longer tho

On the other hand, the entire american public let these 2 become hits and BOF linger in the sixties for a couple weeks and then drop and i want to stab someone

Can someone do the math of actual points here? I'm curious why all the predictions were wrong. (But very happy they were!) Since Bad Guy sold 20k on the *digital* sales chart, I'm wondering if it had a significant amount of physical sales that weren't captured in that total? Perhaps it was actually the best-selling single when physical + digital are combined? I'm also curious about the breakdown of on-demand vs passive streaming, because the gap seems quite large (53.1m vs 39.1m) with just the raw totals. If I recall correctly, there were quite a few weeks where predictions underestimated Bad Guy, so maybe there's just been an incorrect assumption about where its points are coming from for some time? I don't have the points calculated yet, but... Last week, bad guy lost 22% in streaming and it looks like this week it gained those "missed" streams again. Its streaming numbers are really impressive on YouTube (like OTR) and it has millions of user-generated content so it's harder to predict. The digital sales data was kinda accurate (I used Kworb's 17.5k prediction). OTR vs. Señorita was within margin of error.

Yes the #StreamBadGuy campaign worked. So excited that Billie finally got her #1 which is hard to get not everyone has that to their credit!

i don’t think the physics singles count until they’re are sent out. that’s why they almost always come with digital singles so it counts on the hot 100 The Billboard article announcing it being #1 references the cassette single, though? And if you already had the digital single, this new purchase wouldn't count would it? The digital single would only count if it's sourced from a different account or different seller. So if I bought on iTunes before, unless I used a different iTunes account, I'm assuming it would only count if I bought it on Amazon, GP, etc. I would like to see a points total. I even more curious now than my earlier post, how the Top 3 totaled up.

Do Physical sales count toward the Hot 100 anymore?
Is that where Billie’s boost came from this week?

Codex- it overtook OTR, but not for the No. 1 position. I agree with Codex though - if Senorita does end up going number one, it means the list of songs OTR blocked will get shorter. Exactly. My understanding of the record is that it applies to songs that got blocked from #1 altogether (ie. never managed to achieve it later). 'Senorita' going to #1 after Billie still means that OTR's record of blocking songs from #1 takes a hit regardless of whether it was the one to replace OTR. Getting to #1 at all is the point, not who did it first.

I even more curious now than my earlier post, how the Top 3 totaled up. Presumably her fans already had the digital single, so I'm wondering how much the "bundle" helped. Obviously the physical single aspect could have helped some, though I'm not sure how much counted in the 1 day of the tracking week.

Completely surprised with "bad guy" getting to #1 because it's inevitable to have "Old Town Road" rides it's 20th, but nope, Billie made sure that Lil Nas X will stop riding to the top spot. Congratulations Billie, well deserved and major props to Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus for dominating the charts and making history.

I guess the difference in points came down to the exact numbers as opposed to the rounded figures provided in the article.

Congratulations to "Old Town Road" for a record breaking 19 week run at #1 on the Hot 100! That's history people!
And Congratulations to Billie Elish for hanging in there and finally getting to #1 herself!
Anybody want to start taking bets when the next song will come along that either ties or beats OTR's record?
I predict it might be sooner rather than later.

I guess the difference in points came down to the exact numbers as opposed to the rounded figures provided in the article. More likely Billboard's special form of 'rounding.' Isn't anyone surprised that Billboard didn't highlight such as razor-thin margin between #1 & #2? Especially after the huge gap that OTR held over the various #2s during its run. Seems odd.

Old Town Road had a special and lucky run on the Hot 100 for 19 weeks. I don't think there'll be any hits in the near future that'll be able to have an extreme run and viral success as OTR, at least for now.

Keep in mind that Billboard weighs the types of streaming differently (paid subscriber vs. ad-supported). That may help explain any discrepancies when totaling raw numbers.

I’m happy we get turnover now, but I’m weirdly sad that OTR’s reign has ended? Huh. I’m veeeery excited that Billie got her week at the summit at least.

Wow. OTR dropped from #1 to #3. In before it tumbles out of the top 10 after it's stay at #1 the same way In My Feelings did. Everything comes back to Drake huh :kii:

I guess the difference in points came down to the exact numbers as opposed to the rounded figures provided in the article. As has been said, "BG" had some physical sales as well. They could have pushed it over the top.

7 rings (the second single) increasing in its 30th(!!) week on the chart.. not everyone has that! here's some of your faves struggling in their 30th week:
Dancing With A Stranger [first release from sam smith to receive promotion in the US in a while] (-1) MEGATRON [hyped up, mv] (isn't even on the chart for like five weeks) Walk Me Home [Global superstar Pink's lead single] (didn't last!) Shallow (probably lost positions) Please Me [anticipated release from CARDI B and BRUNO MARS] (nowhere to be found) Old Town Road (won't be surprised if it's -10)
I could keep going but I won't make you feel even worse about your favs. Queen of rap, pop, and r&b (modern-day).
