Anyone know if Cruel Summer is competing for #1 in any of the other big markets? Probably only Australia and Canada as CS is still in the top 10 last week in those markets. Other markets like UK maybe too late as it already peaks. |

Lol at all the people who have even saying for weeks that Taylor wasn’t chart obsessed or that she wanted it to be organic. Home girl said here’s the kitchen sink too! I’m expecting either the Tour Video or a MV to drop on Friday unless she drops the 1989 (TV) single first.

On the single version, she says "Alright Los Angeles we have arrived...to the very first bridge of the evening. Now, I have a question. Does anyone here know the lyrics to this bridge. PROVE IT!"

I get the argument for leaving the purity of the song as it is... but dropping a quick remix and live version could've gotten the job done and then would've been quickly forgotten without tarnishing the original. Yep, I agree with this. Knowing her and her team, I think it's likely that they do care and have been planning to push this all along (there was her insta post on July 21 and Taylor Nation's on Aug 14 heavily hinting at a video or some type of remix or special release, and then the iTunes discount most recently), it's just that different wrenches were probably put in the plan (Aldean, Oliver Anthony, etc.), or possible delays with shooting the video, and that they aren't quite sure of the best time to release the remixes and whether to align it the same week as the video, etc. I still strongly feel something is coming, definitely by mid-September, So many unhinged takes but this was the closest to the truth. I’m sorry Taylor for ever believing even for a second that you aren’t chart obsessed anymore. It was just hard to time it ❤️ |

I'm really happy that they've finally done something. But why not weeks ago? This could've been a multi week number one.
Still, I'm not complaining.
And this time around, I don't think she can be blamed for pulling stunts etc. That's because she has not released a music video or even promoted this in the slightest!
Had she had released a music video, I'm sure it would have made up for missing points early on, so it could've been number 1 already.
So it's all good for me.

Anyways, consumption wise it will peak next year when she goes on tour A close friend of mine is working at a big radio station in Italy, and he told me "Cruel Summer" was not serviced to radio in Italy, France and Spain to name a few. Therefore it is not getting any significant airplay over there. Which makes no sense at all. |

On my local station in Ireland it’s played all the time. They played Anti-Hero a lot too. But before that, maybe Wildest Dreams or Bad Blood? I don’t remember anything from Reputation or the rest of Lover ever being played
