Do you think her management team will push this as summer draws near? Maybe make an effort to keep it from going recurring, at least for another several weeks? Next month we are in summer.

Is this considered bigger than Shake It Off yet? Technically no, but it's getting close. The sus change to the multiplier impacted this and Anti-Hero quite a bit. This will be about 12k points away from Shake It Off after tomorrow's charts are published. If it can survive 3 more weeks in the top 25 (aka get to week 56), it should finally surpass Shake It Off, shenanigans and all. If she wants it she can do it. Anniversary Cruel Summer vinyls please? :) |

There's been a fan push to unseat Shake It Off as her number one song based on chart performance. Right now, Cruel Summer is very close behind in second place, but it'd need 3+ more weeks on the chart to topple SIO.

In addition to the Billie tracks, there's that new Luke Combs track that is projected to debut around #21 but seems to be falling on streaming. I wonder if it slips a bit, CS might survive right at #25.

For me it's already her biggest hit regardless but I do hope it makes it. I always found it dumb that Billboard stops adding points when they go recurrent. Wht if it spent the next ten weeks at #26? Are we meant to believe it got 0 points all those weeks?

Choco, you are so right. Even if CS goes recurrent, it is not like it went away. Like you said, if it goes recurrent, it would be just a tad under the artificial threshold Billboard Set. I did not know Billboard stopped allocating points to a song on recurrent. The rules confuse me.

I am now hearing it more than ever. it is being played as if it were a new song even NOW! It shows how silly the Billboard rules can be. There are new songs out by artists I love like Billie E, Beyonce, Cardi B, Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Rodrigo, Due Lipa, and so many more getting less airplay and streaming than this old track from Lover, yet it will be off the Billboard Hot 100 due to foolish rules. Oh well.

Even if it goes recurrent now, would it be able to chart again later when the airplay and streams inevitably go up in the summer? Just like xmas songs in November-December..

That's not entirely clear based on Billboard's rules. If the resurgence was significant enough, I'd imagine it would be, especially if there's any new type of promo (though it's already maxed out all of its relevant formats, so there's really nowhere more to push it). Possibly if a video is released and whatever gains would result from that, but I don't think Billboard counts videos as "new promo" or a significant enough reason. |

I believe a top 25 re-entry would be enough for her team to push it in whatever way Billboard needs for it to count.
Let's not ignite video hope again though lol. The last time that made any sort of logical sense was around the Eras film debuting. And they need to set up whatever is the second TTPD single.
If it somehow survived I think Billie dropping a bit and it's relative resurgence on streaming might be enough for it to chart until it dethrones SIO, which is honestly all I really need it to do at this point before it spends the next year on the recurrent chart's top 10.
