Fun Facts. 1) Rihanna will be the second artist to chart three or more songs on the Top 100 Decade-End songs charts across two decades since Usher, and the first Female: Usher.1990's: You Make Me Wanna; Nice & Slow; My Way. 2000's: Yeah!, U Got It Bad, Burn, My Boo, U Remind Me.
Rihanna.
2000's: Live Your Life; Umbrella; Disturbia. 2010's: We Found Love; Love The Way You Lie; WORK. 2) Mariah Carey still holds the record for the most songs to chart on any Decade-End songs list however with EIGHT in the 1990's: #1. One Sweet Day #15. Fantasy #20. Dreamlover #49. Always Be My Baby #53. Hero #88. Vision Of Love #96. I'll Be There #99. My All

In my opinion, Madonna is the only artist to truly ever be commercially successful, chart-wise, across almost two complete generations. After scoring her initial chart hits in 1982, she was still able to score hit songs and albums well after twenty years later: Music, Me Against The Music, Hung Up/Confessions era, 4 Minutes etc. Elton John is another from his debut in the early 1970's to his hits scored in the 1990's, and semi-international hits scored in the 2000's. To be fair, all of Madonna's 2000s output in America ranged from moderately successful to a complete flop. None of it was half as big as her peak albums. If that counts as being successful across two generations then Eminem's Revival & Kamikaze, Jay-Z's Magna Carta & 4:44, MJ's History/Invincible, Beyonce's Lemonade (if you count Destiny's Child as her career debut), which were just moderately successful albums would also count as being successful once a new generation became primary consumers. Basically nobody has been able to continually release music and still be actually near/at their commercial peak after 15+ years. The only exceptions are people like Cher/Santana/etc but they were never consistently successful forces while young, flopped for decades even, then got a one-off at an older age. Disagree with some of this 1. Lemonade was much bigger than Eminem’s revival + kamikaze. Those two albums combined sold around less than half of what lemonade did. The only noteworthy single was river which did ok. Formation and sorry were much bigger than the river. 2. I think Madonna has work from the 2000s that would be viewed as more than moderately successful. Music, don’t tell me, & die another day we’re all top 5 hits on pop, with music going number 1 on the hot 100. 4 minutes was also a huge hit that sold over 3 million units.

Lemonade passed 3 million equivalents in US, which is definitely more than a moderate success in today’s climate, but the album also did fail to get any big chart hit. However I would say it was bigger than moderate success yes. Kamikaze and Revival are both past 1 million equivalents. A Platinum album today is a moderate success for new acts let alone veterans. Also I was referring to Madonna’s albums overall in the 2000s being moderately successful at best. They weren’t blockbusters eras, not that it should be expected at that point in career. The point also still stands if you compare singles. During her peak decade she had 15? 20? sizable hits. In the 2000s she only had at most 4-5 sizable hits in US, and majority of her singles underperformed/flopped. The 2000s was not even half as big as her peak.

Didn't realize Panini was already down to #38 on Hot 100 + Rodeo wasn't charting anymore.
Old Town Road is gonna outlive both his followup singles from his EP. I wonder if it'll outlive his next single or 2 also.

LNX push too much power on OTR when it's ideal to release panini with a video for a second single when the album was release. i doubt people know panini that much.

VMA's helped Panini a lot on Spotify, it's #14 or sth right now, which probably means it's going to have a bullet on next week's chart. But the video is needed to go any further at this point.

It may be too early to say, it may not be too early to say. Nevertheless, who here feels that Lil Nas X will remain a technical "One Hit Wonder", or do you think he'll be able to score #1's/frequent Top 10 hits from here onward?
Regardless, "Old Town Road" has him set for life in terms of constant royalty cheques (thus he coyld easily 'retire' tomorrow) but I'm curious to see if he'll become another artist that was successful with one single/an era (or two) before never being seen again on the charts or will he actually capitalize from a lucrative music career?
P.S: I like "Panini" far more than "OTR".

But I doubt he will ever reach the heights of OTR again. And even if he scores hits later on down the track, OTR will most probably be his most remembered song forever now.

I still don’t understand why he didn’t promote his other songs on the EP, maybe he’s going to do that later. Rodeo could be a big smash on pop and urban, Bring U Down and F9mily could do great on alt, Kick It could be a great urban radio hit, and C7osure could definitely do something on the dance format.

I find it odd when people say lil nas probably won’t have a bit as big as old town road again when it’s the longest number 1 of all time. Like yeah he won’t have a hit That big again but neither will 99.9% of artists until the record is broken again. Like we shouldn’t but that expectation on him. Collecting top 20s/30s for the rest of his career is completely fine

Wow at Dobbie Brothers & Barbra Streisand debuting so high at the time. During those times, it's was a huge deal when you debut inside the top 40 on the Hot 100 and that stated that your last album was huge enough to carry enough momentum for you to do that. A couple of artists did in the 70s & 80s like Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Hall & Oates, John Mellencamp, Madonna, Bee Gees, Stevie Wonder and even artist like Christopher Cross & Supertramp did it as well. Now a days, it's very common to debut inside the top 40, in fact it seems like almost every week now a days with streaming that that happens. So wanted to take a note on that.
