Everything to be quite honest. A quick summary; "Liar" and "Shameless" were both sent to radio while "Senorita" was huge and was still growing if I remember correctly. It was clear that they wanted "Shameless" to be the main song, but the GP and radio chose "Liar" instead. They released a music video for "Liar" shortly after (I think they had both video ready in this case so props to them). "Cry For Me" and "Easy" were released shorty after, not as singles though. She then went on SNL to perform those two and not even the single that was still rising on radio ("Liar"). "Liar" then started falling on radio and within that time span and before the AMAs "Living Proof" was released and then performed at the AMAs but has not been sent to radio. So upon album release there was no single at radio, almost half the album was out, and their best selling point was "Senorita" being a number one hit.
Yes they had a lot of video and promo spot, but there wasn't any focus at all. I can't believe this was the same team that dealt with her first album. The only good thing about this era is tacking "Senorita" on the album and that's not even guaranteed to give her any SPS figures.
But didn't she also release four songs before Havana actually sticked? I understand the single selection has been messy and unfocused, but on the other hand she'd had more money thrown at her than some A-lists could dream about. If they release all these songs with accompanying music videos and high profile tv performances, and still nothing clicks the the GP, then I'd say the "messy rollout" is not the only problem here. She only released two songs prior to Havana, and released OMG alongside Havana, which took maybe like a month to start blowing up and then the music video paved the way for a monumental gain The difference is the other 3 songs were cut from the record entirely

What's been so messy about her release? She's had a ton of videos and promo. Along with a high profile PR romance with a hit to go along with it. I've seen her everywhere. So what is the issue? Everything to be quite honest.

I can, even the first album rollout was super weird. They had a clear winner for the single after the album release in She Loves Control, but they push NBTS, then push a Real Friends remix, Sangria Wine, an orchestra remix of Consequences...too messy

And now we're sitting on the question as to whether or not Living Proof or My Oh My is the next single Since one has all the live promo The other has all the current streaming playlisting So it's a total wtf It's getting ridiculous! Her team needs to decide ASAP what the next single is and send it for adds. Can you say this like 100 more times? Haha.

She only released two songs before "Havana" which were "Crying In The Club" and "I Have Questions" and even then it was clear that CITC was the single and they spent their efforts trying to let that one stick. When "Havana" blew up instead of "OMG" they put all their focus on that one for obvious reasons. When CITC didn't work out they even went in a different direction. So in her debut at least they knew which songs they were pushing instead of throwing out six four songs and promoting all of them at once. That's whats messy about the rollout. Everything to be quite honest. A quick summary; "Liar" and "Shameless" were both sent to radio while "Senorita" was huge and was still growing if I remember correctly. Her team got it right up to the release of "Never Be The Same". The "Sangria Wine" phase of that era was something else. "She Loves Control" and "Something Gotta Give" should have been next in that order. The "Consequences" orchestra remix was cute however.

Not releasing “She Loves Control” was the second best thing her team did for her, the first being forcing her to date Shawn Mendes and release a song with him.

Whomever said the album was vanilla was spot on. Not one song screams smash to me. This Love does have potential though, but with rhe mishandling of the first two singles I don't think radio would give a ballad from her a chance. I guess go with DaBaby single since he's hot rn or whatever...

"This Love" is the song that sticks after a few listens.
"Should've Said It" has potentials too.

To me, radio wouldn't give a chance to This Love at all cause they (her team) already screwed this era by releasing/sending two songs to radio platforms and push them all at once + GP didn't give her a chance after Senorita. Just like you said, going with DaBaby collab for the next single would be the only option to save the era maybe. His song "BOP" has been getting good streams and sales for a while and he actually brought some streams to the song (Debuted with 1.9M on Spotify WW).

Should've Said It is cute, but it is still in the bottom of the barrel for me. I do like it lyrically though. Either way, I am still loving this album. I am kinda stuck on Living Proof though. That song is just everything to me and I can relate to it personally right now, which makes it even better.

Just listened to the album for the first time. I quite enjoyed it to be honest. There's not a single song in there that I don't like, compared to 'Camila' which had like 3 on the first listen. The tracklist is kinda weird cause it didn't leave room for certain songs to shine. However, I'm pleased.

That's a reach but it is also obvious that she is in competition against Halsey which makes all this a bit hilarious.

Not surprisingly. Camila did 119k (65k pure) while "Havana" was at its peak. I'm even a bit surprised by the 50k pure sales, is there some kind of bundle?

What's been so messy about her release? She's had a ton of videos and promo. Along with a high profile PR romance with a hit to go along with it. I've seen her everywhere. So what is the issue? This. She had probably the most extensive and explosive rollout for a popstar in recent times. The issue is that she has no hits besides the Shawn Mendez single (which is really more indicative of Shawn’s status). She had all the promo spots, big televised performances, media/blog coverage....people just don’t want she’s serving and that’s the tea. No amount of latching onto Shawn or Taylor is going to fix that.
