Just as a note, apparently, the top artists of 2018 on the Artist 100 were: 1. Drake 2. Post Malone 3. Ed Sheeran 4. Taylor Swift 5. Cardi B 6. XXXTENTACION 7. Imagine Dragons 8. BTS 9. Bruno Mars 10. Camila Cabello How did Bruno Mars and Camila get in over Ariana? Never Be The Same was bigger than no tears left to cry

"Havana" has a large part of its run in the 2018 chart year as well, and that song was a behemoth. Her album sold decently as well. 2018 saw Bruno win all those Grammys, spiking his album sales, plus "Finesse" and the down swing of "That's What I Like." Ariana probably just barely missed out. Doesn't help her album was released in August with only ~3.5 months of the tracking period left. A good portion of "breathin"'s run was also cut into 2019's chart year.

Yea, Ariana's recent success is more 2019 phenomenon.

All of this makes me wonder how Billboard will calculate for the Artist of the Decade honor. Will acts who have peaked higher in the Artist of the Year chart be favored above acts who haven't? Will acts who have peaked higher in the Artist 100 be favored over acts that haven't? Will touring be measured as well? Will they use chart points or raw sale figures? So many ways Billboard could go and we have no idea what they'll actually do. As you know, this has been discussed a lot in the Artist of the Decade thread, so perhaps we can move it there if it continues much further, but if I had to conjecture, I would say the Artists of the Decade chart would align more closely with the Top Artists of the Year charts. To me it just seems that they give a more accurate representation of who comes closest to being the "biggest" artist, and they seem to weigh the different metrics more accurately and fairly. The weekly Artist 100 chart also only started in 2014. As for touring, I do think they'll include that since it's been calculated into the year-ends since 2011 (yes, this is also after the decade started, but sooner than the Artist 100 has been in existence). As to whether they'll use chart points or raw consumption numbers, I'll think they'll use the former, since the different metrics have all been wildly in flux and changed a lot throughout the decade.

Never Be The Same was bigger than no tears left to cry She also had God is a Woman, Breathin and thank u next. [bre] Thank u next only had 2 weeks in the 2018 yec and breathin had like 14? And Havana is probably bigger than all three of those combined

And Havana is probably bigger than all three of those combined Let's not forget Bed or God Is A Woman either. Havana was a huge hit, and it is easy to read Ariana's success in 2019 back to 2018, but she was still pretty huge last year.

The end of the year cut off didn't work for Ariana. At that point I think Havana alone could eclipse the combined points of NTLTC and breathin', while Never Be The Same was comparable to God is a Woman.
For every Bed, Light is Coming, etc... Camila also had Beautiful which was a top 10 hit on her core format.
Album wise Camila and Sweetener were probably about the same SPS-wise at that point too.

Yes, but Havana has Young Thug, which means only about 70-75% of its points will actually go toward Camila's total point stats.

A little late but "Truth Hurts" was #11 last week on Canadian Hot 100.
I believe that's the first time a #1 in US/Canada hasn't been top 10 in the other country since "Bodak Yellow"s first week #1 in US (it was #12 in Canada).
The only time a US/Canada #1 didn't peak top 10 at any point in its run in the other country this decade was when Usher's "More" somehow managed to top the Canadian Hot 100 (February 5, 2012).
