Yeah, the hype for this song was unfortunately stolen by the longevity of "Don't Start Now". I think it's wise for them to move on to a new song at this point and make that a legit global smash. Break My Heart is coming. March 27th. Save the date.

This is listed as a Hot Pick by WKCI-FM and WKSS-FM, besides WBHT-FM, WPOI-FM and WPYO-FM, on AllAccess. It's still good to see that because this hasn't been serviced yet, but I think that Warner needs to decide what to do soon though~

I think the best option is to go with Break My Heart for the next single here. Physical is already outside of the top 100 on US Spotify and will be an uphill battle to get it back up when it already has two videos and a few live performances.

The fact that it's still lingering around is a good indication for the future. Can you send over clips of the live performances? Would love to see what you're talking about.

It's lingering sure, but a radio push doesn't guarantee it'll move back up on the US streaming charts. An example for a similar situation would be Selena Gomez's Rare single. A video was released alongside it's release with an adds date coming a few weeks later. It started off strong on radio, but streaming and sales are nearly nonexistent, therefore it has started to stall on radio. That's why they're about to move on pushing a new single from a new deluxe edition of the album. I saw I think one or two videos in this thread of her performing the song live. It was a few pages back I believe. I'm not sure whether or not they were part of a concert or a televised performance.

Those embed Twitter videos are from the same performance at Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras last month, which was previously mentioned, and this wasn't televised.

I know the only place she performed this was Sydney Pride. Thought maybe since they said she performed this live a couple of times, I had missed a televised (specifically US since that's what I'm referring to) performance. But yeah, no live performances of this yet.

I'm saying that the situation with Rare would likely happen here. Both were released with a video and did not impact radio immediately (Physical still hasn't). Both have fallen significantly in both streams and sales. Which brings me back to releasing Break My Heart in the US rather than Physical. It would have the benefit of being a new song, new interest with streams and sales, as well as the momentum she gained from Don't Start Now.

Receives an add from WBHT-FM this week. As a consequence, eight radio stations are on board with this.

I wonder if we will see her perform this mashed up with Don't Start Now as it peaks once they kick the album promo into high gear soon. It has to start in the US soon, right? We're less than a month out, so I'd expect a second push on TV, plus streaming/radio promo. It seems like there is some desire for this song with early adds, but I would understand if they feel like a global Break My Heart rollout is the safer choice.

I don't get this latest wave of promotion? Throwing out a song and then video before intending on promoting it as the main single. I guess it makes sense to see if people are into it but then it feels old to many (us). However casual music listeners don't care about that stuff or even know about it.. This has already gotten 2 videos before it has been "officially" released in the US so there promoting it already like it's a hot song. I think they will go with another song and this will be left as a VERY strong "should have been single" or album track hit.

Haven’t Dua’s songs always been months behind in the U.S.? “New Rules” was smashing months before it even hit the U.S. market. I think this will do fine and most likely go top 10 with a radio push, plus the album release in a few weeks will give it an extra boost. They just need to decide if they are all in for this right now. Or if they want to push something else.

This situation is so silly and we’ve been having the same conversation for a month and a half now. At this point, they can maybe push this later after BMH, but it would be dumb to have two singles fighting globally at the same time. In a few weeks, Physical will have peaked in the UK and a new single will make sense with the album release.

It’s been 3.5 months since DSN dropped. They very well could’ve gave “Physical” a radio push a few weeks back.

It was smart for establishing her brand stateside. Now the next single will also smash.

They should've waited with releasing Physical until now Maybe they could've thrown in another promo single or waited longer with the title track

As much as I love this song they would be smart to push "Break My Heart" with the new video because it will be fresh.

As much as I love this and want it to be a single, I agree with previous posters, it's been out there too long. She could probably still take this top 10 at Pop, but all the other metrics would be stilted and probably result in a low overall chart-life and peak. It's unfortunate, but they underestimated "DSN." I don't think anyone suspected what a beast that song would end up being.
It's probably best to keep this as a promo single in the US and launch with something fresh as the second single.

Ugh. I really was excited for this to smash the charts. It is literally pop perfection and with Blinding Lights and Say So smashing, I thought it could do well. But I am starting to realize that with passing time, they are probably going to wait until Break My Heart comes out instead.

Yeah, I don't think anyone from her team was expecting "Don't Start Now" to become such a sleeper smash in the US, especially since it took some good time before radio finally embraced it in its fullest.
As unfortunate as it is for us who were rooting for "Physical", it might be better off as an European-only single, so she could concentrate the promotion efforts over there before "Break My Heart" is officially released and gets pushed as a single. Not the ideal scenario, but a solid one regardless. A top 10 peak on the UK is still possible, surely?

A top 10 peak on the UK is still possible, surely? Yes. It climbed to #7 on yesterday's update (Wednesday) and it fell to #8 on today's update (Thursday) in the UK. The gap is around 4k between #8 and #11, so it's pretty safe to say that she will get another Top 10 there tomorrow.

Up to #6 on Hot Hits UK. Also, there's a vertical video on that playlist, which includes BTS of the music video and her live performances of "Don't Start Now".

They should totally push this next. But what's left for promo? If the video came out when the song was first released, then they should have held on to the work out video a bit longer to kickstart the chart ascension?
