Looks like this is finally taking off. Should be able to at least manage a top 10 peak and close out the era. Hopefully Carrie is using some of this free time in quarantine to write new songs.

It literally says drinking alone TOGETHER, but okay. Yes...suggesting drinking alone with each other...on FaceTime! PS. Super happy this is finally in the Top 20! Many songs are in free fall so I expect at least a Top 10 peak. I still hope for #1 tho, no matter how hard that will be!

Yep officially Top 20 on Mediabase as "Drinking Alone" moves up 3 spots to #18 on Mediabase with a bullet of 394 which is also the second highest bullet of all the songs in the 11-20 range only behind Luke Combs/Eric Church "Does To Me".
Since hitting the Top 30 "Drinking Alone" has hit it's stride especially on Mediabase as she has gained 8 spots, 895 spins and 6675k in audience the past 4 weeks (223 spins on average and a little over 1.5 in audience gained a week). I do think the weeks in the 30s did hurt this song, but if some of these ancient songs can give up (Travis Denning, Scotty McCreery) sooner than later I think Carrie Underwood could make a run for a Top 5 peak,
What is also helping is that no one behind "Drinking Alone" is an immediate threat, Keith Urban is a good 600 spins behind (and only gained 104 spins on Carrie Underwood this week), Sam Hunt is over 1000 spins away as well and those two are the only two as I see posing any sort of threat to Carrie Underwood and even then both will probably take at least a good 3-4 weeks before catching up to Carrie Underwood.

This is picking up the pace right where “Love Wins” slowed down. Top 10 is definitely looking very viable, seeing as A-listers regularly take 30 weeks to climb now.

Ecstatic this one's hanging in there; really hoping it can at least crack the top-10 because I've felt it was deserving since day 1 I heard it!

Her performance of this on ACM's Our Country really made me appreciate this song and lyrics more. I actually wish the recorded version was a little bit more stripped down and acoustic. The studio version is a bit overproduced in comparison.

Besides "I Love My Country" and "Be A Light" this song has the highest bullet on Mediabase of all the songs below the Top 10 at a very healthy bullet of 527. Ever since March 1st this song has gained 1720 spins and just under 11 million in audience on Mediabase as well. Definitely look for this song to at least achieve a Top 10 peak and maybe even Top 5 given the current pace this song is going.
I am curious with the whole Covid-19 pandemic going on if the label will opt for a 5th single from the album since I doubt Carrie Underwood is anywhere near ready or has recorded/written much new music. I still think it is unlikely but given how long new music from Carrie Underwood tends to take (over a year in between "Dirty Laundry" peaking and "Cry Pretty" being released to radio) I would not 100% rule out the possibility.

I imagine them wanting to pick up the pace for the summer even if we're all stuck inside. My vote goes to End Up With You.
I also think Ghosts on the Stereo or Backsliding would work well for Country radio. But I honestly doubt we'll get a fifth single.

This one deserves a #1 peak imo, but I'll take a Top 5! As for single #5, if we actually do finally get a fifth single for the first time since the Carnival Ride era, then I have a huge feeling it would be "End Up With You." I also think "Ghosts On The Stereo" would work as the fifth single (I think it's very radio friendly tbh) but I sadly think that would have a bit of a hard time at radio.

I really don't think we will get a 5th single...and honestly, I don't know that we should. Remember Carnival Ride was basically the "peak" of Carrie's career, coming off the success of SH, and she had a Number 1 streak that was alive and well. Things have changed for her on radio. A 5th single wouldn't do much for album sales or streaming, and if it flopped a la "Love Wins" it could do more harm than good when it's time for Carrie to release a new album in the future. DA finishing in the top 10 (and let's not forget it took longer than any previous Carrie single even as is) is probably a good note to end the era on.
Not to mention, she's releasing a Christmas album this year, so we'll have new music from her before we know it. No, but in all seriousness I think we're closer to new Carrie music than we think.

Based on her history, Carrie Underwood could've had a 5th single slotted into the gap between album eras for pretty much every album since Carnival Ride, and she/the label/etc. opted not to, despite there being a considerable break between releases. I would love if she churned out new music as fast as Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan i.e. do, but she prefers to take her time and seems more interested in building hype by a short absence over promoting an extra single just to fill time.
I'm really hoping we get something new by the end of the year though. I'm so ready for new music and for her to hopefully smash with whatever her next lead single ends up being, because seeing how all of the singles from Cry Pretty have performed on the charts has been frustrating.

In its 23rd week on the Billboard Country Airplay chart, this one moved from #16 to #14!
By moving to #14, "Drinking Alone" becomes Carrie's 30th Top 15 hit on the Country Airplay chart!

This is really taking off now! Top 10 is pretty much a given, but hoping for at least a top 5 single.
I’d personally love a 5th single, but she hasn’t done a 5th single since Carnival Ride. In the unlikely event that Capitol would release a 5th single, I do agree with everyone that EUWY would be the obvious choice.
I’m personally hoping for a top 5 peak for this, which should give her more radio momentum to release the lead single from CU #7 in 2021.

Well Carrie Underwood did set a new peak on Mediabase as she is at #14. That being said her bullet took a hit as she only gained 91 spins. Maybe this week was a fluke and she will be back to gaining well next week, but I do expect Keith Urban and Sam Hunt to probably pass her sooner than later.

I’m assuming they’re lying in one for one last push to the top 10, but when will that be? Now seemed like the time since it’s close, and 3 songs above it are on the way out.

Sam's only some 550 spins behind her but only around a half-million AIs behind so he and Keith Urban will pass her this week; 23 weeks on CT40 is pretty routine these days, so I do expect her to reach the top 10 before Memorial Day.

She looks poised to overtake Jordan Davis within a day or so, so if she can stave off Keith Urban and Sam Hunt, “Drinking Alone” has the potential to gain one or two spots (particularly depending on what “The Bones” and “Catch” decide to do, allowing Kenny Chesney entry to the Top 10) by the end of this week.

Top 15 on airplay and not even top 50 on country songs, this is disheartening...

It went recurrent there a few weeks ago (although it's unknown why, it doesn't seem like it would have lost it's bullet then).

That's so strange. How can a song go recurrent when it didn't even make the Hot 100? Seems like an error...

Despite that, its currently rising on the bubbling under. Maybe if it hit the Hot 100 they fix it. By the way its the highest ranking song in airplay (#71 all genre) that hasnt charted yet

Callout scores are in on Mediabase and to the shock of no one this isn't doing well as it has the second lowest positive score and highest negative score. Combine that with the fact this song is only selling better than Kenny Chesney and Scotty McCreery out of all the songs in the Top 15, it just reinforces my idea that this song is probably going to peak somewhere around "Love Wins" and "Cry Pretty" did.

Damn, it sucks that the callouts for this are not good. I guess we can only hope for a Top 10 peak now.

I don’t think the scores look that bad... The negative being the second highest on the chart really says more about how good everyone’s negative scores are than how bad Carrie’s is. 17.0 isn't great, but it's far from terrible (and definitely not as bad as Miranda's "Wash"). Also, the heavy burn is remarkably low, the lowest on the chart in fact. Couple that with a really high favorite and I think this has a fighting chance, especially considering that Carly/Lee's single is still climbing in the top 10 with similarly bad scores.

I mean 17.0 in terms of negative scores was about what Riley Green and Kelsea Ballerini had with their last singles and both stalled out outside the Top 10. While 17.0 is not an awful negative score, it is a pretty poor showing when you are first on the callout scores. I think this has a chance to make the Top 5, but I put it's #1 chances no higher than 10 to 15% at most. I also think Carly/Lee single is climbing well despite the scores it has, due to more sales and streaming and interest than "Drinking Alone" and the gap between it and the songs below it.

We'll have to see in the coming weeks how radio starts treating "Drinking Alone," because in the past couple months it has been hitting a stride and gaining much better. The callout could cause it to start stalling out, but based on how its been doing lately, I think it's going to at least out-peak "Cry Pretty" on the charts, though it may not get as high as "Southbound."

It feels like this single has been out for forever and a day. Didn't "Southbound" peak in like September?
