Keep in mind that Christmas this year is a Wednesday, which will definitely help it out in terms of the tracking week, since 6/7 days will be leading up to or on Christmas. That also means it doesn't get as much radio play, however. Also, something to look forward to is that Christmas 2020 is a Friday, which might mean that it'll hang on for an extra week, causing possibly the biggest drop from #1 without dropping off completely (if it goes to #1 at all) Hopefully the chart will be fixed by the end of the 2019 holiday, I really don’t get people cheering for Christmas music to chart but calls the current chart boring, or literally any other chart for that matter 1) Perhaps those aren't the same people. 2) Christmas songs literally skyrocket up the chart for a month and die immediately after the holiday. They don't clutter the chart for months on end. 3) People are literally cheering for a year+ old song to continue charting. 4) Let people have their fun. It's literally harmless. You aren't going to stop Christmas from coming.

Well, it's Mariah so that's why there's hype if her Christmas song will hit #1 as it really has a legit shot to do it. Plus, she seems ready to fight it out which is fun to watch.

This year is fun because Mariah is clearly gunning for the #1 hit.
Next year it will probably start to get boring.

Congratulations for Selena.I'm happy for that #1 song...The song has an increase on Usa itunes and apple music so far cause of the headline news about being the #1 song in the country...

Naos, can you put these posts in the other week's thread? It makes it easier to catch up.

TikTok popularity? That song might actually go to number one if it’s making those gains.

I can see Roxanne being #1 on both Spotify and AM by the end of the week, which would be incredible considering it wasn't on either chart less than 2 weeks ago

Based on its recent streaming trajectory (gaining each year), if AIWFCIY goes to #1 this year, it could potentially repeat for several years running. Thus an unprecedented achievement is now theoretically possible. I'm sorry but this would suck. I don't wanna see the same song hitting #1 every year for the rest of time lmao JANUARY 1ST, 2040 - Mariah Carey sets record for most weeks at #1 with 20, as "All I Want For Christmas Is You" jumps 2-1 to the top spot for the 20 straight year.

Something interesting to note that Sunflower dropped from #21, the song reentered the Top 20 in late November last year and never left the Top 20 until it's last week on the chart. Pretty incredible.

I still haven't listened to 'JESUS IS KING', still won't, but no matter how bad the worst song may be, the real sin is the fact he killed Sunflower >:(

Q4 this year: On the bright side, at least Adele, Rihanna, The Weeknd, Drake, and Justin Bieber not dropping in 2019 means the 2020s are going to open with a massive bang.

Q4 this year: Selena Gomez relased the lead for SG2 they people have been waiting for five years Didn't she drop like 5 plus songs between 2017 & and now, were none of them ever considered the lead? I don't know why people are acting like she hasn't released music in years. I guess the music just didn't hit as well as her most recent releases.

I think it's just the Justin Bieber effect: they don't have much personality and thus, they're songs don't have much of an impact but they still get hits. Both Selena and Justin have all had year-end hits and other Top 40 hits ever since 2015 but I bet most can only name name less than 5 of them. They're basically the pop equivalent of wallpaper: you know it's there but you don't pay too much attention unless there's a sudden change in color and look...and then it's back to ignoring them.

Drake has dropped a new song this year, album will most likely follow next year. Bieber has been on several tracks this year and I believe he will drop his new album by the end of year. Adele is pretty sure bet to drop the album this month (Nov 22 is my guess so that she can get big first week and soften the second week drop thanks to Black Friday) Rihanna is a mystery and probably will be until the album comes out (wouldn't rule out an Xmas release like Beyoncé did with her self titled) The Weeknd.. well, does anyone care? His recent singles have flopped badly (#27 and #90 on Hot 100).

One was a collaboration with Gesaffelstein for his album, and the other was also a collaboration for a Game of Thrones-inspired mixtape to go along with the final season. and both were pretty bad so I'm not surprised they flopped. But just like with Selena, once he starts rollout for a new album, he'll get another hit no doubt.

Everyone’s guesses about when she will release has ran futile thus far, including yours. Wasn’t she supposed to release a single in October? At this point, she’s is the exact same league as Rihanna. Nobody knows when they’re going to release; they’ve both been extremely discrete (Adele moreso) about their upcoming work, so I think it’s high time we just sit back, relax and enjoy the explosion for when it finally arrives.

Well my guess is as good as yours so...
I think it's a sure bet she releases this year. It's not confirmed of course.

Yes people care about The Weeknd lmao aint no way he’ll flop. Some random producer collab and a song for some movie doesn’t mean people are off him now
His next lead single will debut top 3 minimum, likely at #1

No chance? Preposterous. If Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga, Billy Ray Cyrus, and the Jonas Brothers can hit #1 in 2019, The Weeknd surely also has some chance of hitting the top 3 as well. There's a chance he will and a chance he won't. It's not like he's completely lost all semblance of commercial viability like Vanilla Ice or something. Honestly the likelihood of The Weeknd getting a top three hit out of his next era is just as good as him not getting one. (But, really, is #4 all that worse than #3?)

Assembling my year-end lists (hit songs, singles, deep cuts, etc.) and it got me thinking, are there any guilty pleasures you guys would "recommend"? Like 'Lalala' and 'Drip Too Hard' are definitely some of my biggest guilty pleasures this year but I'm curious what other guilty pleasures there are.
It doesn't even need to be a song that charted, just a song you found and were ashamed of liking.
