Are you sure that in 2020, they won't change the multiplier to x0.9? Not one song that peaked in 2020 has spent more than 25 weeks in the top 10 of the Hot 100. The may change the multiplier, but what does that have to with songs spending more weeks in the top 10? Circles had 38 weeks and Blinding Lights has 25 weeks and peaked in 2020 and these kind of longevity aren't very common.

^Not only in the top 10, but in general more songs are reaching 40+ weeks in the Hot 100.

The may change the multiplier, but what does that have to with songs spending more weeks in the top 10? Circles had 38 weeks and Blinding Lights has 25 weeks and peaked in 2020 and these kind of longevity aren't very common. Well, more songs have spent so much time in the top 10 in previous years. 7 songs that peaked in 2019 spent more than 25 weeks in the top 10, and four of them that peaked in 2018 did. In the 1960s, a song that peaked at #1 generally spent like 12 weeks on chart and x1.7 multipliers were used on them, while in 1985-1991, where songs had a x2 multiplier, a lot of songs with more than 20 weeks on the chart would enter year-ends at ranks with numbers more than 10x of their peak positions. (e.g. a song peaking at #5 and failing to crack the top 50 in a year-end even though it had spent more than 20 weeks on the chart.) While songs with 3 weeks at peak and total weeks that aren't bad would barely enter the year-end with 10 songs times the number of their peak position.

It’s probably confirmed that circles, the box and blinding lights will no doubt make the decade end list but what about the latter 2 making the all time? what are the chances

It's run so far is better than Circles so it may place higher? who knows

Could Circles reach the top 10 in the GOAT list? Depends on what multiplier Billboard is using these days.
I've got it at #20, steady from last week, at 1,219,440 points. To get to the top ten it would need +1,305,184 points, so at least 85,745 more points. This week it earned 7,680 points, so to get to the top ten all-time it would have to stay at #16 or higher for at least another 12 weeks. That won't happen.
This assumes the 0.80 multiplier value applied to the song's run is accurate. If it's actually 0.85, it's got almost 1.3 million points and easily within shooting distance.

Even if The Box makes the all-time list at one point, it's probably going to be for a very short time.
I don't think it will do it, I think the odds is actually less than 10%.

If they're smart about it, 0.8 seems to be enough. Blinding Lights may be the only 2020 song to git the GOAT 100 after literally 5 songs from 2019

Estimated positions for songs that are currently on this week's Hot 100 as to where they would be if Billboard did an all-time top 10,000 list for the chart week of Aug 22, 2020. Last Week | This Week | Chg | Track | Artist | Total Pts | 20 | 18 | 2 | Circles | Post Malone | 1,227,440 | 113 | 110 | 3 | The Box | Roddy Ricch | 961,920 | 227 | 190 | 37 | Blinding Lights | The Weeknd | 881,792 | 861 | 830 | 31 | Don't Start Now | Dua Lipa | 646,880 | 1221 | 1064 | 157 | ROCKSTAR [DaBaby] | DaBaby and Roddy Ricch | 599,040 | 1367 | 1346 | 21 | Life Is Good | Future and Drake | 543,280 | 1594 | 1569 | 25 | Say So | Doja Cat featuring Nicki Minaj | 507,392 | 1752 | 1720 | 32 | Intentions | Justin Bieber and Quavo | 488,320 | 1857 | 1793 | 64 | Savage | Megan Thee Stallion featuring Beyonce | 479,552 | 2751 | 2663 | 88 | Adore You | Harry Styles | 375,440 | 3298 | 3049 | 249 | Roses (Imanbek Remix) | SAINt JHN | 335,280 | 3069 | 3060 | 9 | Toosie Slide | Drake | 334,224 | 3664 | 3391 | 273 | WHATS POPPIN | Jack Harlow , Tory Lanez & Lil Wayne | 300,192 | 3963 | 3913 | 50 | The Bones | Maren Morris | 247,906 | 4193 | 4124 | 69 | Blueberry Faygo | Lil Mosey | 227,504 | 4616 | 4261 | 355 | Watermelon Sugar | Harry Styles | 215,808 | 5047 | 4965 | 82 | Rain On Me | Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande | 168,160 | 5247 | 5041 | 206 | I Hope | Gabby Barrett | 165,024 | 6984 | 6842 | 142 | Chasin' You | Morgan Wallen | 106,032 | 7324 | 6914 | 410 | Break My Heart | Dua Lipa | 104,240 | 8065 | 6940 | 1125 | Go Crazy | Chris Brown and Young Thug | 103,744 | 8001 | 6947 | 1054 | Before You Go | Lewis Capaldi | 103,568 | 7155 | 7124 | 31 | Stuck With U | Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber | 99,728 | 8670 | 7219 | 1451 | Savage Love (Laxed - Siren Beat) | Jawsh 365 and Jason DeRulo | 97,664 | 7715 | 7435 | 280 | death bed | Powfu and Beabadoobee | 93,808 | 8070 | 7922 | 148 | The Bigger Picture | Lil Baby | 84,320 | 8972 | 8461 | 511 | Come & Go | Juice WRLD and Marshmallo | 75,840 | 8760 | 8478 | 282 | We Paid | Lil Baby and 42 Dugg | 75,632 | 9452 | 9203 | 249 | Hard To Forget | Sam Hunt | 66,144 | 9643 | 9305 | 338 | Party Girl | Staysolidrocky | 64,704 | 10543 | 9851 | 692 | One Margarita | Luke Bryan | 58,896 |
Circles climbs up 2 on the all-time list to #18, and The Box is closing in on the top 100 of all time. It needs about 10,000 more points to reach the top 100, which means 4 weeks or more in the top 50. It's currently at #42, and I don't think it's going to make it.

To me, the point system's main flaw I'm beginning to notice is that it's too top 10 focused. Meaning longevity and chart runs outside of the top 10 just really mean nothing. It's an issue because today more than ever, most top 10 hits have notable chart runs outside top 10 and many songs that don't even go top 10 have insane chart runs.
The Bones has been charting 47 weeks, yet has notably lower points than songs like 'everything i wanted' which barely even did 30 weeks. Even once it does over 52 weeks it still won't have surpassed it at this point.
The point system also unintentionally gives moderates hits from pre-Soundscan much more points on average than post-Soundscan. Nearly every single top 10 back then had those identical chart runs similar to 99-82-56-32-18-10-8-7-5-4-9-20-32-68-94-OUT. So all of them have similar chart runs in the top 10 which again has the most weight. Now for 2020 in example, so many top 5/top 10 hits only spend 1-3 weeks there but then have large runs for months like 5-8-10-14-14-13-12-18-17-16-15-14-13-20-22-24-23-23-25-26-28-30-32-34-34-37-37-43-OUT.
The latter songs were still very huge, if not, bigger than the former songs but again, what matters is top 10 weeks.

Also even a #1 like "Say So" which actually had a really decent chart run for a #1 today, has lower points than every single #1 hit from the 1980s.
Say So: 507,392 Smallest #1 of the 1980s (Dirty Diana): 543,756
Even "Life Is Good", an 8-week #2 has less points than the weakest #1 of the 1980s.
The formula is literally now at a point where either a song does massive on the all-time list after spending lots of weeks top 10 (Circles, Blinding Lights, The Box) or it just does absolutely terrible on the all-time list even it has a nice run (Savage, Say So, Life Is Good). There is no inbetween.
Billboard def has got to reevaulate the point system for today.

Dirty Diana basically has spent 2 weeks at #1 because of the x2 multiplier. It's basically spent 28 weeks on the chart.
I agree that weeks in the top 10 are made important.
The Twist has basically spent 50 weeks in the top 10 because of its multiplier. Had the chart runs from different years counted as individual chart runs for individual songs, reaching #1 song of all time could've been pretty easy to achieve.

The original 1990s decade-end was focused on weeks at #1.
You'll see My All and Lately, songs with insignificant chart runs for #1s, there, another one is I'll Be There, it might've referred to the decade-end list regardless of its chart run for a #1.
While you'll see Another Night at #51, Truly Madly Deeply at #63, and You Were Meant For Me/Foolish Games at #67.
You will not even see the #1 song of 1990.
Also, One Sweet Day is #1 on the original decade-end.

^That chart has been completely forgotten by Billboard. They don't even acknowledged that such a chart existed.

Circles holds although it gains points. It's still about 14,000 points behind #17. That's another 2 weeks at #16 or higher.
The Box is at #47 on the Hot 100 this week and this could be its last week on the chart. The likelihood of reaching the all-time top 100 is diminished.
But Blinding Lights is probably on its way to the all-time top 50. The first several weeks of its history certainly didn't encourage that thinking. It entered at #11 then dropped to #52, then #63, and finally #72 before starting to climb again. Unfortunately those first 4 weeks still count toward the 52-week max, replacing 4 weeks after it eventually goes recurrent. Unless it's still in the top 25 after 56 weeks, that'll cost it points.
WAP's already in the top 10000, and has more points than TROLLZ's entire run.

The Box succeeding in cracking the all-time top 100 is like Charles Green succeeding in a fight for additional months and weeks of his life.

Did anyone think Blinding Lights would be the #1 song of 2020 during the song's second, third, and fourth weeks of its chart run?

A quiet week in the Billboard Top 10,000, where the two biggest all-time hits on the current Hot 100 gain points but not enough to move up even a single spot. For the week of Sep 5, 2020:
Last Week | This Week | Chg | Track | Artist | Total Pts | 18 | 18 | 0 | Circles | Post Malone | 1,242,800 | 108 | 108 | 0 | The Box | Roddy Ricch | 967,120 | 157 | 131 | 26 | Blinding Lights | The Weeknd | 937,792 | 916 | 763 | 153 | ROCKSTAR [DaBaby] | DaBaby and Roddy Ricch | 658,240 | 802 | 771 | 31 | Don't Start Now | Dua Lipa | 656,320 | 1168 | 1149 | 19 | Life Is Good | Future and Drake | 582,800 | 1553 | 1531 | 22 | Say So | Doja Cat featuring Nicki Minaj | 512,992 | 1694 | 1664 | 30 | Intentions | Justin Bieber and Quavo | 494,800 | 1741 | 1689 | 52 | Savage | Megan Thee Stallion featuring Beyonce | 492,352 | 2593 | 2528 | 65 | Adore You | Harry Styles | 390,800 | 2838 | 2610 | 228 | Roses (Imanbek Remix) | SAINt JHN | 382,000 | 3135 | 2876 | 259 | WHATS POPPIN | Jack Harlow , Tory Lanez & Lil Wayne | 353,312 | 3997 | 3726 | 271 | Watermelon Sugar | Harry Styles | 265,088 | 3871 | 3811 | 60 | The Bones | Maren Morris | 257,346 | 4073 | 4029 | 44 | Blueberry Faygo | Lil Mosey | 237,184 | 4661 | 4538 | 123 | I Hope | Gabby Barrett | 195,104 | 4909 | 4869 | 40 | Rain On Me | Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande | 173,040 | 6273 | 5567 | 706 | Savage Love (Laxed - Siren Beat) | Jawsh 365 and Jason DeRulo | 141,824 | 6576 | 5817 | 759 | Before You Go | Lewis Capaldi | 133,328 | 7303 | 5996 | 1307 | WAP | Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion | 128,000 | 6547 | 6209 | 338 | Go Crazy | Chris Brown and Young Thug | 121,664 | 6556 | 6227 | 329 | Break My Heart | Dua Lipa | 121,200 | 6700 | 6579 | 121 | Chasin' You | Morgan Wallen | 112,512 | 7132 | 6894 | 238 | death bed | Powfu and Beabadoobee | 104,928 | 7088 | 7064 | 24 | Stuck With U | Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber | 101,024 | 8001 | 7659 | 342 | Come & Go | Juice WRLD and Marshmallo | 89,600 | 7807 | 7716 | 91 | The Bigger Picture | Lil Baby | 88,720 | 8250 | 8056 | 194 | We Paid | Lil Baby and 42 Dugg | 81,872 | 9047 | 8877 | 170 | Party Girl | Staysolidrocky | 70,064 | 9799 | 9082 | 717 | For The Night | Pop Smoke | 67,440 | 9483 | 9186 | 297 | One Margarita | Luke Bryan | 66,336 | 9985 | 9401 | 584 | Popstar | DJ Khaled and Drake | 63,760 | 10113 | 9712 | 401 | Wishing Well | Juice WRLD | 60,320 |

^So, 2 to 3 more weeks for Blinding Lights to surpass The Box?

Also even a #1 like "Say So" which actually had a really decent chart run for a #1 today, has lower points than every single #1 hit from the 1980s. Say So: 507,392 Smallest #1 of the 1980s (Dirty Diana): 543,756 Even "Life Is Good", an 8-week #2 has less points than the weakest #1 of the 1980s. Problem is there's no really easy solution. The fact is that there is a much greater disparity between the, say #10 & #100 songs of the year today than there was 30 or 40 years ago. Not unlike the distribution of wealth, the "Ricch" are getting a much larger slice of the pie, while the poorer charting songs are getting a lot less. If you try to even the scenario out for one era, you end up over exaggerating a different era. I've done analysis on the distribution of tracks by decade on the top songs from my list and here's how it breaks down: Years | Top 100 | Top 500 | Top 1000 | Top 5000 | Top 10000 | 1950s | 3.0% | 3.6% | 2.6% | 2.7% | 2.9% | 1960s | 9.0% | 12.2% | 13.2% | 20.2% | 21.7% | 1970s | 13.0% | 18.2% | 19.8% | 20.5% | 20.4% | 1980s | 18.0% | 20.0% | 23.2% | 21.8% | 20.1% | 1990s | 20.0% | 16.6% | 15.1% | 14.0% | 13.5% | 2000s | 12.0% | 13.8% | 13.1% | 11.1% | 11.6% | 2010s | 25.0% | 15.2% | 12.5% | 9.2% | 9.3% | 2020s | 0.0% | 0.4% | 0.5% | 0.4% | 0.5% |
The Hot 100 began in August 1958, so the numbers for the 50's are small. And of course, the 2020's have barely begun in chart terms.
Ideally, each decade (except the 50's & 20's) should get about 15% of tracks over a reasonable number of songs. But fully a quarter of the all-time top 100 are from 2010 to 2019 - a significant oversampling, while the 1960s are underrepresented with only 9 tracks in the top 100.
Now when you extend that to the top 500, the number of tracks each decade is more reasonably even. The 1980s now becomes the most represented decade with 100 of the 500 songs but no one decade seems to be greatly over- or under-represented.
By the point where the top 10,000 songs are included, the rich/poor gap of the past couple of decades really shows. The 60's becomes the most represented decade (21.7%), the 2010's least (a mere 9.3%).
If the ideal was to get nearly the same number of tracks from each decade in the top 600, they did a pretty good job.
