"hot girl bummer" isn't misogynistic. It's about a man dealing emotional turmoil of a bad relationship ending and his "therapy" is to party and sleep around even though he knows it's bad. It's literally just "7 rings" but instead of retail therapy it's party therapy. Both songs are supposed to make you feel uncomfortable. That's the point.
"Dear Future Husband" isn't misogynistic either. Misogyny is a dislike or prejudice against women. DFH is quite literally the opposite of that as her demands to her masculine SO is lopsided to where the woman is the one in control and receives the better treatment. DFH clearly has problems, but misogyny is not one of them.

The biggest problem with Hot Girl Bummer is that the vocals sound like trash.

That's just asshole behavior on Braun's and Borchetta's part. To have something you create, especially in an art where you put so much of yourself into it, and be restricted as to its use is awful.

Your post about the song sucking had nothing to do with the topic we were actually discussing. It was a juvenile addition. I was not at all referring to you being off topic in the thread.

I don't know why you always post random pop culture news in the Hot 100 thread. This belongs elsewhere and is not relevant to the hot 100 at all.

i know it's most likely going to get caught in between years but the popularity of 'hot girl bummer' is still baffling to me. I feel like the last time I felt uncomfortable listening to this level of misogyny was a few years ago when 'Dear Future Husband' was a thing. Like even the most braggadocios trap hits aren't this overt in their sexism. I noticed that there was a MASSIVE decline in sexism, and especially homophobia in hip hop music in 2012. Not saying it disappeared, of course, UOENO and Rap God being examples, but it went from being really common to being quite rare. And very suddenly, to the point that it seemed co-ordinated (as if the heads of all the major record companies ordered their artists to stop doing it). And to add on to all of that it coincided almost perfectly with the meteoric rise of third-wave feminism, etc. I don't know where I saw it but I remember seeing a chart that said sexist and homophobic lyrics have been in the decline recently. Like you said, not that it's completely gone, but there aren't blatantly homophobic or transphobic songs released as singles as there were in the 90s. And perhaps the support from rappers like Macklemore and Jay-Z, as well as others coming out such as Tyler the Creator and Kevin Abstract helped.

aussie1 in case you haven't noticed, we don't only discuss songs impacting the Hot 100 in these threads. Sometimes, we talk about artists or just random things that have to do with music/the music industry. Right now, what's being discussed in this thread is hot girl bummer and sexism in hip-hop music. What does any of that have to do with this week's Hot 100 chart? Yet, I don't see you quoting anyone else to tell them to keep the discussions to strictly Hot 100 business. The link I posted wasn't news from the world of business or sports. The news is about Taylor Swift, one of the most famous and successful mainstream musicians of the century and the battle she's currently facing with not being able to perform her music. I really only posted it to inform anyone who didn't already know. Tragic things have happened to musicians and we've discussed them in these Hot 100 threads even though those events had nothing to do with the Hot 100. Lastly, it's perfectly possible to just skip over whatever topics/posts are made in this thread if you don't want to engage with them. That's what everyone else does.

aussie1 in case you haven't noticed, we don't only discuss songs impacting the Hot 100 in these threads. You should, though. All that other stuff goes into their respective artist/album/song threads because it's off topic here. If Taylor's tweet sparked upticks in her music enough to be noticeable on the Hot 100, then it might belong here, but so far it hasn't. Because someone brought yet another off topic conversation to the Hot 100 that really should take place in HGB's song thread. Because that's a one time incident. You do it damn near every day. (And you must be living under a rock to not notice how often we have brought this issue up.) Cool. That still has nothing to do with the Hot 100 and doesn't belong here. Those people don't need to learn it from here. They can venture out into the rest of the board. This entire board exists for a reason. The discussions that take place in here really can go elsewhere on the board. It's a big site. Y'all need to venture out of your little bubbles. It would do y'all a lot of good. "It's always been done, so why should we stop?" is a horrible excuse to keep anything going.

Tbf, I don't think it's a bad thing when the conversation drifts slightly from the Hot 100 when the charts are as uninteresting as they are right now. At the very least though, the conversation should pertain to songs that are on the Hot 100.

Speaking for myself, I don't check other threads so I like receiving major music news on these. People need to remove the sticks from their behinds and put them to better use. Maybe hang some laundry on them.

Maybe hang some laundry on them. It's hilarious to me that every other week, there are discussions in these same Hot 100 threads that often times have absolutely nothing to do with the Hot 100 or even music and it gets entertained, but merely sharing information about a musician that has to do with her music career, the same musician who just released a remix to the title track of her latest album AND just released another song off the soundtrack album of a movie she stars in, is the worst thing on the planet. A lot of other people never leave this forum and even when they do, they prefer to share or read things going on in the music world in this particular forum because it's probably the most active forum on the entire site, but I guess it's better if everyone acts oblivious to that. Anyways, I've listened to the complaints. Going forward, I'll be sure to point out everytime anything other than the Hot 100 is being discussed in these Hot 100 threads.

Discussions regularly drift from the chart but those usually happen when talking about a song or artist in relation to its placement. In the case of the Taylor tweet above, that was just dropped in with no chart context. I think maybe thatβs the main difference here.

I'm in Brazil seeing the news about Taylor and I feel bad for her. Ariana Grande was forced to release Ghosthin on her album because of Scooter. I do not doubt that he is selfish and think only of money ...

I think Taylor's discussion is totally pertinent to next week's discussion, as she released a new song after all the commotion.

If kworb's digital song sales are accurate, a new record low for a #1 in Digital Song Sales will be set by either Memories or Lover. Also, it seems the CMAs will have a significant impact on the chart, given how depressed song sales have been.

^That may be. But this would be the fifth time the record-low for the #1 in Digital Song Sales has been set this year.
