2012 was a good music year. I always thought Catch My Breath by Kelly Clarkson should have been a bigger hit.
Also never understood how One More Night stayed at #1 so long. Talk about good timing.

If the rule to allow Youtube views to count was implemented earlier then Gangnam Style would've been #1 instead

Gangnam Style was robbed from #1. Still a bit ticked off to this day.

If youtube was included back in 2012 Gangnam style would of been unstoppable, so I'm glad it wasn't because it meant more songs could ascend to the #1 spot. It must of been a very strong #2 though.

ITA. Would OTR have had 19 weeks at #1 if it was under 2012 Chart Rules? I doubt it and gosh there were plenty of folks here who complained about ‘kids watching it on YouTube.’ It’s a given that Billboard chart rules for H100 are always changing, controversial and sometimes counterintuitive (like weighing). I’m just glad we’re going on 30 years of having component data - radio, sales, streams etc. Instead of Billboard’s mashup, I look at at the separate metrics to get a better sense of what’s a hit. Finally I get to chime in on a non-relevant to the week H100 discussion. Haha

Speaking of 2012, I heard Flo Rida's "Good Feeling" on the radio today for the first time since like... 2012.
Crazy how dated it already sounded. I forgot that tragic EDM breakdown during the bridge existed.

Still wasn't happy Maroon 5 robbed Gangnam Style off #1. But to be quite honest, yes, it was a very strong #2. And YouTube's effect happened in 2013, so "Gangnam Style"'s fall in the 2013 YE wasn't as bad as I expected (from #47 to #55)
P.S. "Old Town Road" robbing "ME!" off #1 has the same emotion I've felt when "One More Night" robbed "Gangnam Style".

How come none of the new Coldplay songs have crossed over yet? You'd think given the popularity of the band they would've crossed over by now but only Orphans bubbling under

But usually their lead-off singles do well: A Sky Full of Stars, Paradise, Adventure of a Lifetime

Just for fun... I have some numbers for this week's #1 race: Someone You Loved 11.6k sales + 97.7M airplay + 23.6M streams = 28,300 points Circles 14.4k sales + 88.4M airplay + 23.1M streams = 27,700 points *Circles is stronger than SYL on streaming even if it's below in total streams because SYL's streams are more YouTube/Pandora vs. Circles' on-demand streams.

This race has been a nail-biter, though for now, without a more concrete ODS estimate (thank you AlphaData for not updating all day...), I have the race going the other way:
Circles: 14.4k sales + 89.6m radio + 17.6m ODS + 3.7m YT + 2.9m passive (24.2m total) = 29,000 pts Someone You Loved: 11.6k sales + 97.1m radio + 13m ODS + 6.7m YT + 3.7m passive (23.4m total) = 28,300 pts

OTR remained #1 in the weekly YouTube chart. AIWFCIY rose to #45. The latter should have a shot at #1 there the tracking week including Christmas.

For my current predictions, this is what I have for the top 2:
Circles: 29,570 points Someone You Loved: 29,300 points
The sales and streaming estimates are fixed, but based off of the updated radio estimates (I'm still using the numbers I predicted on Wednesday) for my final predictions Circles will be benefited more.

According to Simon, GLY 7th week at #1 was lower: I wasn't here for its official numbers though so that could be off. Anyone have its official points estimate?
