The amount of love "Airplanes" gets always confused me. Those verses are so mediocre.
Once The Hills is out I'll be good~

Half of this top ten is disappointing, but obviously not surprising.

I definitely understand the love for the chorus but at least a third of the song isn't good at all imo haha. It's like people skip the verses or just tune it out while waiting for the chorus

Quite a few surprises in the 20-11 section, mostly of songs I wouldn't have guessed would make it that high.
My predictions for top 10...:
10. Gotye/Kimbra - Somebody That I Used to Know 9. OneRepublic - Counting Stars 8. Bruno Mars - Locked out of Heaven 7. The Weeknd - The Hills 6. Mark Ronson/Bruno Mars - Uptown Funk! 5. Adele - Someone Like You 4. Adele - Rolling in the Deep 3. Taylor Swift - Blank Space 2. Lady Gaga - Bad Romance 1. Rihanna/Calvin Harris - We Found Love

Also, I know many of you already submitted but if you haven't, head on over to the Rankdown of the Decade - ranking every #1 song of the 2010s! pulsemusic.proboards.com/thread/187423/rankdown-decade-open?page=3I've set the deadline for January 31 but it's a soft deadline. I'll leave it open until at least I finish my other ongoing rankdown (the Gay 69)... been jugging a few things lately. But I'm actually SUPER excited for the #1s rankdown and this one is only intensifying that excitement! I hope you'll all participate!

#20: Havana (#88): Overrated and overplayed.
#19: Bad Guy (#89): This isn't good at all. When The Party's Over is the one that deserved to smash.
#18: Wake Me Up (#3): Honestly I thought this would be in the top 10.
#17: Can't Feel My Face (#54): This is not the worst song ever but it's kinda overrated.
#16: Sunflower (#1): Thought this would win too. Also looks like I'm the first person to lose all their top 10s.
#15: Can't Hold Us (#23): Still a jam. I thought you guys LOVED this song enough to take it to the top 10.
#14: Call Me Maybe (#76): Too cheesy. Shouldn't have made it THIS far.
#13: Hello (#33): Again I thought you guys LOVED this song enough to take it to the top 10.
#12: Royals (#68): Boring AF.
#11: Airplanes (#17): You guys are trash for making this miss the top 10.
I'm the only one that doesn't have a top 10 in the top 10. I like 5 of the 10 songs left, but I think I know for certain what will win based on my luck with rankdowns.

Camila Cabello ft. Young Thug - Havana: 7/10, ranked #37
The best thing Camila's done in her (sorry to say) mostly shite solo career. Fantastic groove, though it did tire on me a bit from all the airplay.
Billie Eilish - bad guy: 10/10, ranked #11
While one of her weaker songs, especially lyrics-wise, this is still a bop.
Aviici ft. Aloe Blacc - Wake Me Up!: 8/10, ranked #20
Probably underranked this, I'd probably put it closer to but not into my top 10 if I redid this. Love the production and Aloe's vocals.
The Weeknd - Can't Feel My Face: 10/10, ranked #8
We stan Abel, second biggest bop on the list next to Nice For What.
Post Malone and Swae Lee - Sunflower: 10/10, ranked #6
The ultimate vibe music, both artists sound fantastic and so does the beat, Swae's lyrics are a bit iffy but that's really just a nitpick when the song sounds this good.
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis ft. Ray Dalton - Can't Hold Us: 10/10, ranked #9
See Kelly, THIS is how you make a pump-up anthem!
Carly Rae Jepsen - Call Me Maybe: 7/10, ranked #31
Bit on the too sugary sweet side but this is still a classic bop.
Adele - Hello: 8/10, ranked #22
The weakest Adele song here through just not being as interesting as the others, but her powerful vocals are still undeniable.
Lorde - Royals: 8/10, ranked #23
A massive influence that I probably respect more than I love, but I give it props for never souring on me despite the overplay.
B.o.B. ft. Hayley Williams - Airplanes: 7/10, ranked #41
B.o.B. is uninteresting as hell, but the hook is damn good and saves this from mediocrity.
My top 10 predictions: 10. The Hills 9. Counting Stars 8. Locked Out Of Heaven 7. Blank Space 6. We Found Love 5. Someone Like You 4. Uptown Funk! 3. Somebody That I Used To Know 2. Bad Romance 1. Rolling In The Deep

Two Bruno/Adele songs in the top 10... looks like the one song per artist rule is too much to ask for. I am glad it isn’t 3 Adele songs in the top 10 though. well looks like someone isn't going to like my top 3

25 need you now (43): I’m actually pleasantly surprised to see it this high. Nice melody, classic sound, strong vocals. 24 thrift shop (84): it’s fun and all but that sax is a bit annoying. I like it but I actually prefer Fancy 23 take me to church (6): nooo!! I was hoping this could make the top 10. It’s by far one of my favorite alternative songs of the past 20 years. I love how the production goes from dark to desperate fo hopeful, perfectly supporting the lyrics, and how his grave and emotional vocals take the same crescendo route, accompanied by strong background vocals. 22 tik tok (16): at least it made the top 25 :) it still sounds fun today, and she is just believable in how she sings this tune. A clear representative of the early sounds of the decade. 21 Nice for what (74): oh wow! I’m legit surprised this is the highest Drake song in this RD. This is just too messy of a song to me. Not even chipmunk Lauren ( ) or the melodic chorus or the bits of interesting beats are enough to counteract the noise. 20 Havana (47): I can’t complain at seeing a Latin infused song in the top 20 (although I still think Despacito is much better than this ). Camila does a great job but Young Thug is a big liability for me and the only reason I didn’t rank this in my top 40. The music and production are great, though. 19 bad guy (26): a great representative of the attitude at the end of the decade. Love the eclectic moody production and her delivery. 18 Wake me up (13): one of the best examples of EDM uniqueness and fusion of styles. Love the juxtaposition of countrified music, soulful vocals and dance. Love the lyrics, too. 17 can’t feel my face (45): a pretty good song; I thought I was gonna rank it a bit higher, but it ended up being a bit too safe and average when I compared with other songs. 16 Sunflower (55): yes! Finally! Pretty competent song but also quite simple and uninteresting to make it to my top 50.

20. Havana: I like the Latin vibe and Camila sounds surprisingly decent. Young Thug brings it down, but still a decent song overall from someone I'm not a fan of. 19. Bad Guy: I like the production here and her vocals are interesting enough. But it's really not best of the decade material. 18. Wake Me Up: Although I find this somewhat overrated and think Avicii has quite a few songs that are better, there's no denying this is one of the most iconic EDM tracks ever. It always amused me how many people said it was a country song back when it was first hitting radio. 17. Can't Feel My Face: The beat is catchy, but I find this song kind of bland and I think The Weeknd is a lot better than this. It just sounds like it was made for radio and it's not that unique. 16. Sunflower: I see the appeal, but I still think this is ok at best. Definitely not Top 20 of the whole decade. But for Post, this is an alright song. Just not musically that interesting. 15. Can't Hold Us: This was my jam back then. It's fun and energetic. Definitely one of my favorite hits from 2013. 14. Call Me Maybe: Nuuuu this should've made the Top 10! It may have been slightly annoying back then, but I've come to really enjoy it. It's cute and fun. But I kind of wish this wasn't the only song a lot of people know Carly Rae Jepsen for. 13. Hello: I forgot this song was still in. It's fine? It's a little over-dramatic, but her voice is good. It's just not something I've ever revisited. I don't exactly enjoy listening to this in my free time. 12. Royals: Before Billie Eilish came Lorde and I can see why people view this as an iconic song for pop music. It's minimalistic production done well and it just sounds really good. I wish songs like Tennis Court had become hits as well. 11. Airplanes: So close.... yet so far. The nostalgia is real with this one. B.o.B has great verses here and Hayley Williams delivers probably one of my favorite choruses of the decade. I just love everything about this song.

Something that just hit me: Two songs have won a Hot 100 RD in this top ten. "Bad Romance"* is one (2010). "Counting Stars" is the other (2014, finished runner-up in 2013).
Granted, those rankdowns "Counting Stars" did really well in were practically light years ago, but I think people might be underestimating its chances.

Out of curiosity, how is the closeness rankings determined? Is it the total amount of difference between your rank to the result for each song as an absolute and divided by the number of songs in the rankdown?

Out of curiosity, how is the closeness rankings determined? Is it the total amount of difference between your rank to the result for each song as an absolute and divided by the number of songs in the rankdown? Yeah. So basically, for each song that is already revealed, I find the positive difference between the song's position in the rankdown and where you ranked it, and then add all of the such differences for each song. However, instead of dividing it by 100 each time, I divide it based on the total number of songs that were already revealed. So for 100-91, I divided the total sum (so far) by 10, 100-81 by 20, etc.

Gaga has songs that are SO MUCH better then this, like Just Dancw, Poker Face and her best song, Shallow
