I hope cardigan can make the year end and have longevity, unlike the other #1 debuts

This is random but my god, 2014 might be the worst year for music for the 2010s. I didn’t think it was this bad until I tried to do a top 10 best and struggled to find 10 good songs and honorable mentions, it’s just so bad.

A random question, but what do you guys think will be the #100 and #1 songs for 2020 YE Rankdown? I feel #1 will be either "Everything I Wanted" or (if it made it) "Cardigan".

There’s really not alot to like about 2014, it was pretty bad all around especially hip hop. Almost all of the hip hop songs that made the YE sucked.

2017 was a nice year, but the mid 2010s were generally weak in terms of hits.

2017 was a nice year, but the mid 2010s were generally weak in terms of hits. Speaking of that, how do we define the Early, Middle and Late parts of a decade? Personally, I define Early as 0, 1 and 2, Mid as 3, 4, 5 and 6 and Late as 7, 8 and 9.

If radio is really being re-calibrated up by 10-15%, then that should further increase Blinding Lights' chances at #1 on the 2020 year end list.

Blinding Lights or Don't Start Now have proven in the mid year rankdown to beat everything i wanted, so those two are definitely major players for the year end RD Adore You will most likely be up there as well As for #100 or at least bottom 10: death bed, Sunday Best, and Falling definitely will be low to say the least Btw, love the Shulk/Fiora profile pic

I think #100 is gonna be Best On Earth. Usually #100 isn't quite the worst song but it's the one that just nobody would put above like #75. There's probably gonna be a couple people who put worse songs like Memories, Hard To Forget & Stuck With U in the top 50

I think Hot Girl Bummer should be #100 because I think that song is horrible. As for #1 some possible cantidates could be Everything I Wanted, Blinding Lights, Cardigan, Don't Start Now, and My Future (if it makes the Year-End).

^I do love the song myself. In particular its lyrics and playful music. It is quite an outlier musically speaking.

I have no idea what you mean by this, 2017 was one of the best years of the decade, I could make a top 25 best songs of that year and still be forced to make a bunch of really painful cuts. A random question, but what do you guys think will be the #100 and #1 songs for 2020 YE Rankdown? I feel #1 will be either "Everything I Wanted" or (if it made it) "Cardigan". Hot Girl Bummer is Cool And Good tm, actually perfect song to vibe to when you're just fuckin' done

Imo 2017 is the best year for the 2010s. Songs like DNA, Castle On The Hill, Rockstar, XO Tour, Humble, Redbone, Havana, Congratulations, SJLT, Goosebumps are great songs. But if you don't like it I understand 👍.

it’s looking more and more likely each week that RITMO will make the top 50 of the year end and I don’t think I’ve seen enough people talking about how utterly ridiculous that is

Bad Guy as well i'm a little bit less confident about that one It's hard to predict this stuff but it seems to certainly have a real shot. Going off Tanooki it's at #38 and so it'd need 13 songs to pass it to fall below 50. Of the songs on the hot 100 right now the ones guaranteed to pass it we have
1. Before You Go 2. Death Bed (probably)
3. Break My Heart 4. Watermelon Sugar 5. Go Crazy 6. Savage Love
There's one song that's completely unpredictable 7. One Margarita
And a couple songs I'd call unlikely but in contention.
8. Rain On Me 9. We Paid
But even assuming both of those get there that would take 4 more songs that are either yet to debut such as WAP & My Future or recently released tracks (For The Night, The Woo, Popstar, Come & Go, Wishing Well, Cardigan). Calling any of these locks for the top 50 is iffy, much less 4 of them.
Lastly there's the possibility that it could be behind Nobody But You & Heart On Ice because they're so close. But even still it would need to avoid being passed by 11 songs and in that scenario it has a shot (also meaning Heart On Ice could make it if they're in the right order). I'd actually say it might be a good bet for song #50.
