Highest In The Room was weak sauce compared to other Travis songs. It felt like a rejected Astroworld track. At least it's not gonna be in his next album. I doubt they're gonna completely snub a #1 from his album, in an age where any little prior hit is tacked on to count for SPS. Even "Butterfly Effect" was tacked on ASTROWORLD so.

That’s not that long. It doesn’t happen often. It happens more than you'd think. God's Plan > Nice For What Sorry > Love Yourself Can't Feel My Face > The Hills (Also The Weeknd) Shake It Off > Blank Space Boom Boom Pow > I Gotta Feeling Whatever You Like > Live Your Life and after that it slows down a bit Don't forget Drake did it again that same year with In My Feelings replacing Nice For What

How far apart were "Only Girl..." and "What's My Name?" That was a funny situation where the second single hit #1 before the lead single, but regardless they were clearly charting and peaking close together. I think I'd consider them dual singles. They did peak close together but I think "What's My Name" was intended as a second single after "Only Girl" had peaked at number three. The label was already moving on after the lead single had failed to hit number one. "What's My Name" had charted at number 60 from airplay and rocketed to #1 after the digital release; the following week it plunged to #7. The week after that, (the week of the album release), "Only Girl" made a surprise move to the top as 'Loud' debuted at #3. It then fell and "What's My Name" stabilized as it was promoted as the second single. They were close together but they were never promoted as dual singles. It was just the weird circumstance of the album release causing "Only Girl" to top the chart after "What's My Name" (which was powered thanks to Drake's burgeoning stardom). The charts moved quicker then and "What's My Name" performed similarly to other iTunes driven one-week-wonders of the era: "Break Your Heart", "Not Afraid", "We R Who We R". I still think it was that extra (and shaded) promo that made the difference. Remembered from the OG thread: "Keeping it NICE AND LOUD for Rihanna's Navy this weekend! Only Girl is ONLY $.99 this weekend on iTunes. Buy it again or gift it to your friends. Let's get LOUD!"

Amazon Music is where holiday songs are really killing it. Is there any kind of data released for that service?

what song had the biggest fall from #1 this century? I think "Lose Yourself" fell 1-8, was anything bigger than that? I know nothing has fallen from #1 to completely out of the top ten since that weird streak in 1974. But given how close songs like "Mona Lisa" came to number one it's only a matter of time until the record for biggest fall (currently 1-15) is broken.

What position did Money in the Grave peak at finally before falling off? I didn't know it was still charting. Thought it'd fallen off weeks ago. #7 i think

Rihanna’s only U.S dual releases in her career have been: • Stay & Pour It Up • Needed Me & Kiss It Better “Hate That I Love You” was intended to be a dual release with “Don’t Stop The Music”, they were both sent to Pop radio and Digital stores (iTunes/MSN) at the same time in August 2007 in the U.S (not worldwide), but “DSTM” was pulled a week later from both and released again in December/January. I believe the biggest example of a Female artist releasing dual singles and have them become simultaneous successes this past decade is Beyoncé’s “If I Were A Boy” and “Single Ladies”. “If I Were A Boy” was sent to Pop radio, while “Single Ladies” was sent to Urban radio. They were both sent to Rhythmic radio at the same time. Nevertheless, her record label held back the digital release of “Single Ladies” while “If I Were A Boy” was climbing the charts. Eventually, “Single Ladies” was released Digitally, crossed over to Pop radio and peaked at number one on the Hot 100 while “If I Were A Boy” peaked at number three. All in all, “If I Were A Boy” was the bigger success internationally, chart wise, while “Single Ladies” dominated the North American charts. Also, “Irreplaceable” and “Upgrade U” were released as dual singles in 2006, both were sent to Urban and Rhythmic radio simultaneously. “Irreplaceable” completely cannibalised “Upgrade U” however and became an airplay smash-hit and of course a ten-week number one on the Hot 100. S&M/Raining Men, California King Bed/Man Down and Right Now/Love7 Song were dual releases as well.

renfield75“Lose Yourself” fell 1-9. 💀 Also, aside from the falls in 1974, Phil Collins’ “Two Hearts” fell 1-11 in 1989 and has held the ‘record’ since. The biggest fall from number one will happen sooner rather than later, especially now in the Streaming era.

Even if you exclude those 1974 songs, Two Hearts does not have the record for the biggest drop. 1) It only dropped from 1-10 on 2/4/1989. 2) Without the 1974 songs, The Sound of Silence by Simon & Garfunkel has the record for the biggest drop 1-12 on 1/29/1966.

Were there any unusual circumstances? Radio airplay was excessively low the winter of 2002 and for the vast majority of the time in which “Lose Yourself” was number one, and didn’t pick up until 50 Cent’s “In Da Club” hit number one. That’s also how Missy Elliot’s “Work It” spent 10 weeks at number two behind it, there was no relative competition. Needless to say, “Lose Yourself” lost 22M audience impressions that week, falling from 101M to 79M and 2-10 on the airplay charts.

so heartless is basically going #1 at this point. i'll give it 2-4 weeks at #1 and it has average longevity. then they start to promote blinding lights which eventually goes #1 and lasts longer than heartless. this era looks good

If the Blinding Lights video was made at the same shoot and released tomorrow or Thursday, he could easily block at both #1 and #2. Personally I hope he goes with a better video for Blinding Lights.
This video feels relatively underwhelming with only that one cool shot that doesn't even have the track playing over it, and then the rest is glamour shots. I miss the super cool videos he had for Call Out My Name and Can't Feel My Face and especially The Hills

If “Heartless” goes #1, do you think it will be the last #1 of the decade? There are three more weeks in the year that will be counted as part of this decade. I don’t know if Heartless will be strong enough to not fall after the week at number one. I think Roxanne has a good chance of being the last number one of the decade, unless Dance Monkey makes some more serious gains in the next week or two so it can hypothetically overtake the number one spot on the last week of the year.

Yeah! - #1 [12 consecutive weeks] Burn - #1 [7 consecutive weeks] Fantasia's I Believe - #1 [1 week] *Burn returns to #1 for a final week* Confessions Part II replaces it, takes over for 2 weeks. He replaced himself twice during their chart runs, but I guess you can argue it wasn't consecutively. Yeah! was replaced by Burn, which was replaced by Confessions Part II technically though so...

I wasn't referring to that. I just meant that no artist replaced themselves at #1 between the Beatles and BoyzIIMen 30 years later. As for that Usher thing, depends on the way you look at it. Although as far as I know, Billboard doesn't officially count it as a second consecutive self replacement.
