Since Memories & GAH feell to #5 & #6, and the Weeknd is going to debut at #1 probably, i thimk its safe to say GAH & Memories won't be going to #1. GAH might even be on the decline now

I'm including thank u, next's weeks as part of the number singles this year. Then I hope you're not counting it as part of last year's #1 singles too, because then you would be counting it twice. I'm not looking at the new number one singles. If I were then yes you're right, there were 14 new ones but factually, thank u next was a number one single for one week in 2019 so it is a number one single. |

It seems like people are starting to leave spotify and go to apple music, though spotify won't admit it. In the past, 7-8 songs would get over a million a day, now only 4 songs max get a million. It's too bad cause spotify is the superior platform. We can actually deduce, though, that once you get past the top few song on Apple Music, below the top 5-7ish, their numbers begin looking identical to Spotify. It's just that AM is 100% subscriber based. Spotify isn't. Spotify also crushes the competition worldwide. They're not too upset over being a strong #2 in the US. Does Spotify pay you to defend them or something ? |

Speaking of Missy Elliot’s “Work It” from my last post, the reason why it peaked at number two for ten weeks on the Hot 100 and wasn’t able to climb to number one is because of Pop radio.
“Work It” peaked at number one on Urban radio and number two on Rhythmic radio behind “Lose Yourself”. It broke both the Urban Mediabase and Nielsen BDS record during its run, peaking at 93M and 75M audience impressions respectively.
However, peculiarly, it stalled in the lower half of the top ten on Pop radio. It wasn’t until its last few weeks at number two that it soared to the top three, but by that point it was already declining on both Urban and Rhythmic radio and B2K’s “Bump-Bump-Bump” was rapidly climbing the airplay charts in contention to replace “Lose Yourself” at number one, as was Aguilera’s “Beautiful” and “Lopez’ “All I Have” (“Bump”... temporarily won the race).
Had it peaked on Pop radio much earlier, I believe it would’ve overtaken “Lose Yourself” and spent several weeks at number one also. Both songs would’ve most likely went back and forth for some time.
To this day, I’m still disappointed by that fact. Missy Elliot was truly robbed. 😪

How do you make a prediction for the *entire* 100? I can barely track 15 as it is. Not being overly technical and eyeballing a lot definitely helps. |

If the Blinding Lights video was made at the same shoot and released tomorrow or Thursday, he could easily block at both #1 and #2. Personally I hope he goes with a better video for Blinding Lights. This video feels relatively underwhelming with only that one cool shot that doesn't even have the track playing over it, and then the rest is glamour shots. I miss the super cool videos he had for Call Out My Name and Can't Feel My Face and especially The Hills It’s called a new chapter for a reason |

FUN FACTS:
• To this day, Alicia Keys’ “You Don’t Know My Name” holds the record for the highest number of listener impressions ever recorded on Urban radio.
It peaked at 82M AI through Nielsen BDS and 98M AI through Mediabase in January 2004. 😱
It’s #3 peak on the Hot 100 was directly because of the aforementioned mostly, however it wasn’t able to climb to number one as it was still in the lower half of the top 20 on Rhythmic radio albeit slowly climbing (it eventually peaked at #11 there) and had barely entered the top 30 on Pop radio.
There was a big panel change in February 2004 and multiple Urban stations were switched to Rhythmic stations, which is why you suddenly had Rhythmic radio drawing in bigger audiences than Urban radio thereafter. If it wasn’t for that, I imagine songs ala. “YEAH!”, “Burn”, “If I Ain’t Got You”, “Goodies” etc. would have/could have perhaps peaked in the 90M range on Urban radio later that year.
• Now, Mariah Carey’s “We Belong Together” holds the record for the highest number of listener impressions ever recorded on Rhythmic radio:

Heartless is already behind Memories and sits at #4 on iTunes. Not that it means much but it's not going sell huge amounts this week.
It did 1.55M on Spotify on Tuesday, still #1 but not a big margin.
Gonna be close on Hot 100 even with the 2.5 days of video boost.

GAH has had a much worse streaming presence than I assumed it would have considering it's following a smash hit and the remix features one of the most "in" pop girls atm.

The Weeknd's coming for #1 this week and after that ROXANNE is coming for that #1, and then Mariah will come in. Even Dance Monkey could reach it in January, so i dont see GAH and Memories getting #1 |
