Actually another interesting stat that the article and I don't believe anyone else mentioned, is that even though she is only 49, Mariah is the second oldest female to reach #1 behind Cher at 52! Congrats to her, and I'm happy for the general achievement as well! I am more on the side though that seeks to diminish or eliminate recurring holiday songs' visibility on the charts every year. It's just too much of a seasonal, regular occurrence that doesn't really reflect what is "hot and new" (but I will add the distinction that holiday songs that ARE new recordings, such as those that have spent fewer than 20 weeks on the chart, etc., would be included in this category of "hot and new" and would be allowed to chart; it is called the HOT 100 for a reason). Like, if Mariah or some other decades-established holiday song continues to hit #1 year after year it would get pretty boring and even lead to backlash.
Speaking of long-established holiday songs, as already mentioned, AIWFCIS and the Chipmunk Song actually aren't the only holiday #1's, or even the biggest holiday #1s, on a main Billboard chart. Pre-dating the Hot 100, that distinction arguably goes to Bing Crosby's White Christmas, which was #1 on the Best-Sellers chart for 11 weeks when first released in 1942, even returning to #1 for several ensuing years according to its wikipedia, and at an estimated 50 million sales worldwide, is actually the biggest selling single of all time.

I believe she is born 70 not 69..she has never confirmed or denied but her mother was talking about her interracial marriage and all the drama in those days on the Oprah show in the late 90s and said when Mariah was born in 1970....so I believe the mom
