I'm honestly more excited to see the following chart after this and see where all the songs end up after the Christmas songs drop off. Then we'll get a true taste as to what we're entering the new decade with.
Still very interested to see how high in points AIWFCIY ends up though!

The music video was kinda unnecessary... just seemed like a commercial, lol.
And AIWFCIY has had like 6 videos at this point I believe. The original, rare B&W version, So So Def remix, Bieber remix, Unreleased footage and this one.
Speaking of the So So Def Remix though, can we talk about it how it's held up really good. I prefer it to the original nowadays.

It's interesting to see how interest in different Xmas songs changes from one year to another..Jingle Bell Rock seems to have lost some os last year's momentum, while RATCT is exploding.

The music video was kinda unnecessary... just seemed like a commercial, lol. Iโm not sure if youโve paid attention to her interviews this season, but sheโs made a point to talk about how Christmas is so important to her because it was her time to claim her childhood and festiveness in a family situation that was otherwise dysfunctional. That is reflected in this video where the โyouโ in the title isnโt a love interest, but actually family. So while the video may not be โnecessary,โ I do think it helps give a new dimension to the song.

I hope Underneath The Tree re-enters with a new peak.
Also just noticed Last Christmas has a newly releases 4K version of the music video and lyric videos of various languages.

As we approach the climactic week of Christmas music for the year, I figured I'd provide a resource since a lot of people were arguing in the last thread about "the same Christmas songs dominating every year". In going back as far as Recurrents allowed holiday songs (the 2001-2002 holiday season), I've compiled the top 10 recurrent Christmas songs of each year during peak week (Some years due to tracking week chicanery, a blip will give a different leader, usually a newer song, amidst the partial exodus).
2002 01 Feliz Navidad 02 Jingle Bell Rock 03 Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree 04 The Christmas Song (Merry Christmas to You) 05 Do They Know It's Christmas? 06 All I Want for Christmas is You 07 Christmas Eve (Sarajevo 12/24) 08 Santa Claus is Comin' to Town 09 Please Come Home for Christmas 10 Happy Xmas (War is Over)
2003 01 Jingle Bell Rock 02 Feliz Navidad 03 Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree 04 The Christmas Song (Merry Christmas to You) 05 All I Want for Christmas is You 06 Do They Know It's Christmas? 07 Please Come Home for Christmas 08 Happy Xmas (War is Over) 09 A Holly Jolly Christmas 10 Blue Christmas
2004 01 Feliz Navidad 02 Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree 03 Jingle Bell Rock 04 The Christmas Song (Merry Christmas to You) 05 All I Want for Christmas is You 06 Do They Know It's Christmas? 07 A Holly Jolly Christmas 08 Happy Xmas (War is Over) 09 Please Come Home for Christmas 10 Last Christmas
2005 01 The Christmas Song (Merry Christmas to You) 02 Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree 03 Feliz Navidad 04 A Holly Jolly Christmas 05 All I Want for Christmas is You 06 Jingle Bell Rock 07 White Christmas 08 It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year 09 Happy Xmas (War is Over) 10 It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas
2006 01 All I Want for Christmas is You 02 Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree 03 The Christmas Song (Merry Christmas to You) 04 Feliz Navidad 05 Jingle Bell Rock 06 A Holly Jolly Christmas 07 White Christmas 08 It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year 09 Christmas Eve (Sarajevo 12/24) 10 Where Are You Christmas?
2007 01 All I Want for Christmas is You 02 Feliz Navidad 03 The Christmas Song (Merry Christmas to You) 04 Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree 05 Christmas Eve (Sarajevo 12/24) 06 Jingle Bell Rock 07 White Christmas 08 Christmas Canon 09 A Holly Jolly Christmas 10 Last Christmas

2011 01 All I Want for Christmas is You 02 Feliz Navidad 03 Happy Xmas (War is Over) 04 Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree 05 Jingle Bell Rock 06 The Christmas Song (Merry Christmas to You) 07 You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch 08 A Holly Jolly Christmas 09 Christmas Canon 10 Last Christmas

2015 *01 All I Want for Christmas is You 02 Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree 03 The Christmas Song (Merry Christmas to You) 04 Jingle Bell Rock 05 Feliz Navidad 06 Christmas Eve (Sarajevo 12/24) 07 White Christmas 08 Last Christmas 09 Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer 10 It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year
2016 *01 All I Want for Christmas is You *02 Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree *03 The Christmas Song (Merry Christmas to You) *04 Jingle Bell Rock 05 White Christmas 06 A Holly Jolly Christmas 07 Last Christmas 08 Feliz Navidad 09 Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer 10 Mary, Did You Know?
2017 *01 All I Want for Christmas is You *02 Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree *03 Jingle Bell Rock *04 Feliz Navidad *05 Mary, Did You Know? *06 A Holly Jolly Christmas *07 The Christmas Song (Merry Christmas to You) *08 It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year *09 Last Christmas 10 Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
2018 *01 All I Want for Christmas is You *02 Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree *03 It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year *04 The Christmas Song (Merry Christmas to You) *05 A Holly Jolly Christmas *06 Last Christmas *07 Feliz Navidad *08 Jingle Bell Rock 09 Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow 10 Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
2019 (All *) 01 All I Want for Christmas is You 02 Jingle Bell Rock 03 Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree 04 A Holly Jolly Christmas 05 The Christmas Song (Merry Christmas to You) 06 It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year 07 Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer 08 Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow 09 Last Christmas 10 Sleigh Ride (Total: 21 + 1 dropout [Wonderful Christmastime])
2020 (All *, 2 weeks from lock-in) 01 All I Want for Christmas is You 02 Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree 03 A Holly Jolly Christmas 04 Jingle Bell Rock 05 It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year 06 Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow 07 Last Christmas 08 The Christmas Song (Merry Christmas to You) 09 Feliz Navidad 10 Sleigh Ride (Total: 12 + 1 dropout [Here Comes Santa Claus (Right Down Santa Claus Lane)]
Asterisks, from the 2012-2013 holiday season onward indicate the song charted on the Hot 100. Incidentally, based on how the top non-holiday recurrent was doing, several of the years prior could've housed up to 8 holiday songs had the re-entry rule come sooner.
I feel it's rather notable that, among other things, rock classics used to be considerably stronger (with acts like Springsteen, Lennon, TSO, and Eagles being more common) along with the songs I'd consider radio-spam-friendly (most notably Do They Know It's Christmas? and Feliz Navidad), with All I Want for Christmas is You not gaining a dominant foothold until the 2005-2006 season.

The music video was kinda unnecessary... just seemed like a commercial, lol. Let's be real, even current songs always seem to get multiple music videos entirely for chart gaming purposes (see Someone You Loved or Good As Hell), so it isn't too surprising.

"1/4/2020" that looks so weird lol From what I've seen, month and date numbers are always double-digits, regardless of leading zeroes. So "01/04/2020" makes more sense. You will notice this if you look in Billboard Hot 100 thread archives.

rimetm Thanks, that was interesting! Iโm thinking the digital era is what brought a change for some songs, both up or down. โAIWFCIYโ was always the top digital seller, from the time we got that data. Now it tops streaming, too. The rock songs you mention did better when airplay was the only real measure.

Interesting that AIWFCIY suffered (relatively) during the years that Mariah (and her reputation) was in trouble on the charts (2001 - 2005) but then sprang to #1 and hasn't relented since the We Belong Together recharge.

Post Malone was never not making trap music. You keep trying to spread the narrative that he "ditched" trap music because a grand total of four songs on his last album had guitars on them (one of those being Take What You Want, which still has trap percussion), and it literally makes no sense. I hope for your sake he starts making music you like, but please stop lying just because his newer music hasn't hit the same for you!

Itโs good for the artists to change their sound. We are entering the 2020s and artists need to experiment with new sounds thatโll define the next decade.
