How does "Alligator" deserve a 100.

Yeah, Northern Lights was just a very good song.
I thought those drums drowned out the vocals at times on Alligator.
Still a good final 3 and good winner.

Can't really complain. Didn't know it was so well-liked though.

As predictable as this top two was, I can't say I'm disappointed. Both of these are great songs and both deserved to win this whole thing.

Okay, I'm going to TRY to not make this post as long as humanly possible. I know, I tend to get a little wordy, so let's see if I can make this short. I'd like to thank everyone who submitted, posted, asked to be tagged, followed along, even those of you who looked at the thread once or twice and never came back! All of you helped to make this particular Alt rankdown another successful one, and one I greatly enjoyed co-hosting.
peacebone, seriously, I could not have gotten this rankdown done without you. Your help with this rankdown made things so much easier for me, especially at this very moment, and I could not think of a better person to share hosting duties with. Thank you, once again, for helping to make this yearly rankdown surprisingly easy to handle.
Before I forget, make sure to check out rowellfarm490's 2019 Active rankdown and singingrulebritannia and Daryl the Beryl's 2019 AAA rankdown. Rowell's rankdown is due tomorrow!
As for me, well, I think this is the right time to make this announcement. I've been thinking, and, honestly, while it has been really fun to host the 2017, 2018, AND 2019 Alt rankdowns, I think that it's about time for new hosts to step in and host one of these. So I guess this is where I announce that I will not be hosting Alt 2020...and, unless someone is really convincing, any more rock chart rankdowns, really. This is, almost assuredly, going to be the last one I host. It has been really fun, but, again, I want to see other posters take a shot at hosting these, and I'm just getting in the way, at this point.
With that said, here's a video I really like:

Well, I'm very pleasantly surprised that my #1 ("Harmony Hall") made it to the top 5, and I can certainly live with my #2 ("Alligator") being Pulse's #1. The other three top 5 songs are just slightly above average in my book, but I'll take the good with the meh. Thanks for another great rankdown, peacebone and Red. Looking forward to AAA next!

They may not be the best lists in terms of quality, but hosting current year-end lists is always ridiculously fun mainly because of the sheer number (as well as variety and unpredictability) of lists that are submitted. While this may indeed have been the most obvious top 2, and the final results didn't have as many surprises as I was hoping, it was still utterly thrilling to watch "Alligator" eke out the win despite having a #100 and another bottom 10 in tow. While I'm as glad as always to have co-hosted, I have to give it to the real MVP of this rankdown, Red. It's for good reason you've hosted the past 3 current years. Your enthusiasm behind hosting will be unmatched, and while I definitely understand the reasoning behind both wanting to step down and give a shot to some newer faces, I'll definitely miss seeing you host these. I also need to thank you for writing all of the previews for me, legitimately took a lot of the stress out of the sets I hosted. Oh yeah, before I head off I'd also like to thank all of you. All of you who participated and followed along, it's because of all of you that these rankdowns just keep rolling along.

I'm basically a rock poster now right!? Also tied for #1 in the amount of perfect rankings? Sweet. An "Alligator" and "Northern Lights" finish was expected, but nonetheless a great top 2. I prefer the latter, but "Alligator" is a great winner; there's a reason why I have it in my top 10. I'm sad I didn't get to comment right after the #1 was posted, I actually started to feel sick at around #4 or #3, so I took a nap (and I'm feeling much better). Thanks for hosting Red and peacebone , these rankdowns are always a blast!

10. The Interrupters - Gave You EverythingVery well done. Choice 2nd single for the band. #56 on YE chart. What a F U C K ing joke Alt 2019 was. #10 is more like it. A pat on the back to all of us who did the right thing. 9. Meg Myers - Running Up That HillConsidering I was a big fan of the original this luckily crept into my top 40. meg sounds good and all that, but "Lemon Eyes" should have topped this. 8. The 1975 - It's Not Living (If It's Not With You)Not fav 1975 song , but it is melodic, aesthetic, catchy and sounded like heaven sent on this list of songs. 7. Cage The Elephant - Social CuesGreat song. Epic psychedelic bop if I ever heard one. Also this band has a knack with giving a new favorite from them every time they release a new album. 6. Lana Del Rey - Doin' TimeNever was a fan of the original. Who sand that? Sublime? Lana gives it her own style, and I must say she sounds and looks great in this music video. 5. Young The Giant - SuperpositionI didn't really care for this indie banjo pop thingie 4. Vampire Weekend - Harmony HallI didn't care this harmonious fail at all. Whatever happened to Allstar Weekend. That was a great poprock band. 3. Silversun Pickups - It Doesn't matter Why.This was decent. I'm not a fan of this band's songs unless it's the one where the models play musical chairs. Anyone else surprised my #1 song made the top 2? 2. Death Cab For Cutie - Northern LightsYou all gonna remember this year as the year I put a DCFC son at #1, and it's not just me trying to sneak in my #1 choice into the top 10. I really love this song. It's the one song out of all of these that ended up the highest position on my own YE chart. As for the actual song. This melody, these vocals blow away anything this band has ever done. I also have a new DCFC favorite song as "Northern Lights" takes the crown from "Crooked Teeth'.1. of Monsters and Men - AlligatorEasily one of the best this 2019 Alt year had to offer, but it doesn't take the crown from my current favorite "Crystals". Also how the hell did this song get that #100 slot? Did an Alligator bite you while you were ranking the songs? Red . peacebone Both of you did a real good job with this one. The turnout of lists must have been hell to tally? This is also one of those years where I actually got a closer to the Year End PULSE stats than the Actual YE chart.

I was just happy I finally found it but didn't seriously think it would actually win the whole thing Awesome job hosting guys Red peacebone this is definitely one of my favorite RDs to participate in!
