Ring in the New Year with a song that already went #1 several weeks ago. How exciting. To be fair, this typically is the most dull time on the charts since many artists avoid releasing new material from Thanksgiving through New Year's, making December and January particularly boring. Thankfully this January is bringing us new Bieber almost immediately with Selena Gomez the week after. Halsey is also slated for this month. We should start seeing some action soon!

So I finally actually looked into Tones & I after hearing Dance Monkey a bunch on the radio, and she has another song rising ATM called Never Seen the Rain and it's a bop and I can see that being another big follow up hit. Could she be a potentially big artist in the dance music scene for 2020s? What you talking about? Tones & I is not dance music at all she's 100% pop 0% dance just cos the song is called Dance Monkey, that doesn't make it dance music lol

Today is the first time in a while that 7 (non-recurring) songs have all hit over 1 million daily streams in the US

To be honest with some iphone users we use apple music as our main service but spotify is our background music basically if youβre just chilling or a gamer so we stream a random playlist and call it a day lol

Ok how is HIGHEST IN THE ROOM getting that much of a boost just from the remix? Thatβs a huge jump.

^For what it's worth, it is classified as an electropop song. A version of it is charting in the Dance/Mix Show Airplay and Dance Club Songs. In the meantime, Happier remains #1 for its 67th week in EDM Music & Dance Songs chart.

But you're not describing what makes it part of the dance genre of music, you're just trying to claim a song is dance because it can be danced to, which is a fallacy. You can interpretive dance to John Cage's "4'33," but that won't make silence a dance song. I'm not arguing with you about "Dance Monkey"'s genre. (IMO, it's straight up electropop, which has roots in dance music, so I would agree elements of the dance genre can be found in the song.) It's just the way you're trying to argue your point is, well, bad.

not sure where to post this but one of the interesting things that seems to happen after Christmas is songs that were popular during the year tend to gain on itunes going into New Years Day . alot of songs were performed on shows last night that got a good gain and then there is Dancing With A Stranger by Sam Smith And Normani. for what i can not find any promo other than year end countdowns has gone from well below the top 100 all the way up to #30.it is has gained a bit on Kworb's radio chart to #17 in the past few days . since the song already went recurrent on the Hot 100 it will not show up.

Seriously when has January ever been a great month for new music? I can only think of 7 rings last year and Rihanna's Anti in 2016. For the most part January sucks, I feel like we don't really get music until around late February. EDIT: Oh yeah Shape Of You. So I guess January isn't too bad for music. EDIT 2: Fucking God's Plan in 2018. I was so wrong.

EDIT 2: f**king God's Plan in 2018. I was so wrong. Yeah, in recent years January has become the month to drop new lead singles. "Yummy" will join those two as well as "Filthy" to be a part of this trend. (As well as probably another one or two I'm forgetting.) Glad this trend is happening too. Lets these songs have a pretty clean slate to launch from given the bare bones month before them. Creates some excitement on top of seeing which songs blow up on radio in the week following New Year's.

So Yummy's definitely ending in the year-end Top 10, right? Comeback for an established artist, dropped at the start of the year, radio's gonna love it.

January is getting Halsey, Selena, and Justin... seems like an exciting month to me. Also on top of that a Taylor Swift Netflix documentary (possibly the Man being her next single). I think this will be a nice month for music

In my mind, Dua Lipa is #1 if you just ignore all the other songs ahead of her.

Speaking of Dua Lipa, is Future Nostalgia a single or just promotional
