Speaking of Dua Lipa, is Future Nostalgia a single or just promotional Promo

To be fair, this typically is the most dull time on the charts since many artists avoid releasing new material from Thanksgiving through New Year's, making December and January particularly boring. Thankfully this January is bringing us new Bieber almost immediately with Selena Gomez the week after. Halsey is also slated for this month. We should start seeing some action soon! Seriously when has January ever been a great month for new music? I can only think of 7 rings last year and Rihanna's Anti in 2016. For the most part January sucks, I feel like we don't really get music until around late February. EDIT: Oh yeah Shape Of You. So I guess January isn't too bad for music. EDIT 2: f**king God's Plan in 2018. I was so wrong. Basically if your Drake, Ed, Rihanna or Post you can release your song anytime you want and not worry about a thing

Following on from that previous post...
In the past, how many songs released by ‘major’ acts in January-March, specifically, have failed to rank in the Y/E Top 20 or beyond? 🤔
• Heartbeat Song: Kelly Clarkson - Y/E #91 • Filthy: Justin Timberlake - Y/E #N.A • 45S: Rihanna - Y/E #48 • Toxic: Britney Spears - Y/E #48 • It’s Like That: Mariah Carey Y/E #61
These are the first that came to mind from the top of my head.
I’m curious.

January is getting Halsey, Selena, and Justin... seems like an exciting month to me. Also on top of that a Taylor Swift Netflix documentary (possibly the Man being her next single). I think this will be a nice month for music Only for someone named Tones and I, Arizona Zervas, and Roddy Ricch to dominate the month. It's so strange that those three are all on top out of nowhere, I get viral songs come out of nowhere but everything about 'Arizona' sounds so industry plant to me, even his stage name.

He's a relatively unknown artist who now has a hit because he went viral on TikTok. So I don't think he's a plant (unless record companies have figured out a way to secretly make songs go viral there, which is possible, but I think it happening to Truth Hurts seemed a bit TOO convenient given that they were trying really hard to make her famous at the time).

I just realized I haven't seen Drake's War make a splash on any streaming platform. Man, his attempts to pander to his UK audience have really flopped . Maybe next time, promote actual uk acts like Jorja, Skepta and Sampha instead of pulling an Iggy Azalea and putting on a phony accent.

Who do you guys think will dominate the year? Last year we enjoyed our one-year wonder at the top of the year-end charts so there's going to be a few years of established or new superstars before the next Nas or Gotye.
Justin Bieber? With either Yummy or whatever the next singles he releases are
The Weeknd? With a proper push for Blinding Lights or a new more consumer-ready single I could easily see him finally get on top
Travis Scott? If he releases another SICKO MODE he could affirm himself as the next Kanye
Billie Eilish? Maybe in another year when the next album is primed and ready

What is the biggest drop that a #1 song has ever had? Does All I Want For Christmas Is You have a shot at beating that record next week?

What is the biggest drop that a #1 song has ever had? Does All I Want For Christmas Is You have a shot at beating that record next week? Technically no as it will almost definitely fall off completely, earning it the biggest fall off the chart. Pretty sure Billboard lists falling off and drops separately. The record holder for biggest fall from #1 was just broken a few weeks ago by The Weeknd's "Heartless." 1-17.

(Actually, J.B is a possibility). Hopefully, Rihanna, Drake, Adele, Kendrick Lamar, Beyoncé etc. are all going to release this year... For the first year since 2016, we’ll have actual “major” defining acts dominating the charts in varied directions, unless none of them release.

It would be the biggest chart miracle ever if AIWFCIY didn't drop out.

Speaking as a Mariah stan here, I'm actually thrilled to see her getting the record for biggest drop from #1 (or biggest fall off the chart), especially since it's so rare to have a returning entry reach #1 only to fall off afterwards. Recurrent rules help though, or else she'd only be dropping to the lower half of the chart (like the Kpop songs).

I feel for the Mariah stans who would get "upset" by the rubbing in their faces that their favorite artist hit the Top extending her num.1 hits to 19 for a few weeks with a Christmas song and it's now not Christmas and it may almost expectedly drop off the chart...

Any chance ROSALÍA and Lil Baby get credit on HITR? Interesting question. I see that is the version being played on radio.

Although I would like to see ROSALIA finally get onto the Hot 100, I don't think the remix will get credited even with radio play. A similar thing happened when the Bieber remix for bad guy came out: it got streams and radio play but he wasn't credited, similar case for Kendrick and his Mask Off remix. I feel the only time a remix will be credited is if it fully eclipses the original in terms of popularity and longevity like with Despacito, Bad Blood and I Took a Pill in Ibiza.
