Interesting question. I see that is the version being played on radio. Although I would like to see ROSALIA finally get onto the Hot 100, I don't think the remix will get credited even with radio play. A similar thing happened when the Bieber remix for bad guy came out: it got streams and radio play but he wasn't credited, similar case for Kendrick and his Mask Off remix. I feel the only time a remix will be credited is if it fully eclipses the original in terms of popularity and longevity like with Despacito, Bad Blood and I Took a Pill in Ibiza. Or if you're Beyonce and you can demand it.

Will whatever song is at #58 this week have a bullet? Without Holiday Songs I think the chart will look something like this: 01. Circles 02. ROXANNE 03. Someone You Loved 04. Memories 05. Good As Hell 06. The Box 07. Dance Monkey 08. 10,000 Hours 09. Lose You to Love Me 10. Ballin' 11. BOP 12. bad guy 13. No Guidance 14. Señorita 15. Bandit 16. Panini 17. Hot 18. Old Town Road (Remix) 19. Truth Hurts 20. HIGHEST IN THE ROOM Thanks!

How is Writing On The Wall rising up on Spotify? Streaming farms?

How is Writing On The Wall rising up on Spotify? Streaming farms? I think it blew up on TikTok, but oh boy... It jumped from #48 to #21 on last day's US Spotify chart, I'm scared. Y'all were just talking about Cardi not killing it anymore and there she goes with another successful feature, if that obviously holds up.

At first I thought you were referring to Sam Smith's "Writing On The Wall", but then I remembered that the French Montana/Post Malone/Cardi B collab was a thing, and that it surprisingly flopped despite the names attached. Never too late for a revival, I guess. 😄

Any chance Ellie Goulding's "River" might chart?

^Unless Amazon has been promoting it in the US, I doubt it, given it is an Amazon Original. It is also on YT, but has less than 2 million views in 4 weeks.

Any chance Ellie Goulding's "River" might chart? It's not included in the radio estimates and its streaming numbers from Spotify/Apple Music are really low because it's neither in Top 200 on Spotify nor on Kworb's US Apple Music Top Songs, so I think that unfortunately it won't chart unless the song gets streams from other streaming platforms.

Writing on the Wall's spotify numbers are so fishy. I can't find anything to suggest a TikTok trend (no comments about tiktok on the mv, searching on the app brings up posts from october), and it has zero traction anywhere else (772 on iTunes, 1101 on AM). And it got 148k streams yesterday. Something's up.

Far as I can tell, it’s not on any big playlists, either.

I have no idea why Writing On The Wall went up so fast on the Spotify charts. No sign of the song on TikTok or on any big playlist on Spotify. What is going on?!

^^It is probably related to a beef he has with 50 Cent about the $1.5 million he spent on a used Bugatti, after being 2 weeks in the ICU.

🤔
This is dramatized and it's probably not a conspiracy like the thread thinks but it's interesting regardless.

I cant wait to rub it in on those Mariah stans hehe. Too bad it'll bounce right back to #1 next year, so it'd hardly fallen off forever anyway. Will Billboard change chart rules to prevent it (and other Christmas/older songs) from charting at number 1 or even that high on the chart? I think the UK has a chart rule like that.

Technically no as it will almost definitely fall off completely, earning it the biggest fall off the chart. Pretty sure Billboard lists falling off and drops separately. The record holder for biggest fall from #1 was just broken a few weeks ago by The Weeknd's "Heartless." 1-17. I cant wait to rub it in on those Mariah stans hehe. The MC stans know and are looking forward to her setting yet another record - an unbeatable one at that. Queen of making up Billboard records.

Following on from that previous post... In the past, how many songs released by ‘major’ acts in January-March, specifically, have failed to rank in the Y/E Top 20 or beyond? 🤔 • Heartbeat Song: Kelly Clarkson - Y/E #91 • Filthy: Justin Timberlake - Y/E #N.A • 45S: Rihanna - Y/E #48 • Toxic: Britney Spears - Y/E #48 • It’s Like That: Mariah Carey Y/E #61 These are the first that came to mind from the top of my head. I’m curious. Gods Plan Shape of You 7 Rings Alllll January.

Thinking about it, using bots to artificially inflate the streams of a song and just saying "Wow, looks like this is blowing up on TikTok!" is a pretty genius tactic. It's not like anyone below the age of 18 would question it.

That's the ACR rule, you're talking about. I doubt Billboard would enact that sort of thing. You'd have streaming heavy songs dropping like flies from one week to the next one, in some cases even becoming recurrent in the process.

Writing on the Wall is #1074 in Apple Music, so something really fishy is going on at Spotify ...

I cant wait to rub it in on those Mariah stans hehe. I feel for the Mariah stans who would get "upset" by the rubbing in their faces that their favorite artist hit the Top extending her num.1 hits to 19 for a few weeks with a Christmas song and it's now not Christmas and it may almost expectedly drop off the chart... Lol. Right? I knew some people would try to be negative and spin it as horrible that a song would fall from #1 off the chart.. but what kind of mental backflips do you have to do to paint anything about the song’s performance as a negative at this point? It’s a seasonal song that just hit #1 25 years after it was released and spent 3 weeks there. Christmas was over and done over a week ago. Did you really expect it chart like your average hit that comes and goes? Don’t worry.. it will return in 10 months.

I believe the UK chart does, and honestly that’s a huge no-no for me, since it’s saying that the Christmas songs are less popular than they actually are. In a way, it’s even worse than disallowing the songs to chart.

Wriitng on the Wall is definitely benefitting from fake streams. It has not gone viral on TikTok, there is no TikTok from the past 2 months using the song with even 100k views. It also hasn't increased in playlist reach the past weeks on Spotify. There's really nothing to explain the Spotify increase.
