Speaking of XXL... Whatever happened to “The Source” and “VIBE” magazines? Are they still in distribution? “The Source” was LITERALLY apart of the Hip-Hop lexicon in the 1990’s and 2000’s and even had an awards show for several years that all the major R&B/Rap stars would attend. 💀 I’ll never forget when Lil’ Kim, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Ice Cube and even Tupac etc. would DRAG them when they didn’t give their albums the coveted ‘five mics’ rating. 💀 ICONIC! 🙌🏿 None of those publications have the same kind of cultural relevance they used to have. While Vibe magazine has moved to online-only, XXL and the Source still remain in print.

From a commercial perspective, it’s very similar to the “Focus” fiasco if not much worst. Grande was following the “My Everything” era which, according to her fans then and prior to the “TU,N” era, was her ‘peak’ where she scored 4 Hot 100 top tens, all of which went multi-platinum and higher, plus an additional top 15 hit. Granted she never promoted “Focus” to the degree in which Bieber has tried to promote “YUMMY” but the way that the former completely underperformed at the time was very telling. Bieber was a dominant force on the Hot 100 circa. 2015-2017 and he’s also scored two additional (duet/collaborative) top tens the past year. The way “YUMMY” has completely bombed is shocking and his antics to try and get it to debut at number one has not helped. This is easily the most FORCED and DESPERATE lead single release since... Well! 💀 Has it completely bombed? It will go top 5, and it's still top 10 on iTunes and Spotify.

I'm delighted to see "Dance Monkey", "Don't Start Now", and "Adore You" rising in steady fashion. Also, "everything I wanted" is having some incredible stability for a one-off track that's very much traditional Billie over her "bad guy" sound.
It's kind of ironic that "hot girl bummer" will probably have a much better performance and longevity than "Hot Girl Summer", even if the latter managed to peak at #11.

Those sales for Yummy seem super low, surely with all the bundling it'll do more than 35k?

Very happy to see that Don't Start Now will be in the top 20 and Blinding Lights reaching the top 40.

For starters, “Focus” is definitely wayyy less palatable to the average listener. “Yummy” may be boring, but that’s an advantage when compared to “Focus” (good LORD Mr. Foxx). I’m not sure how “Yummy” will perform in the future because Bieber has given the song a horrifying amount of negative publicity (baby photos? VPNs?? What?!??), but it’s not as bad as “Focus”. This has a shot at 20 weeks. Nah Focus is much better

"Like A Virgin", "I Want To Know What Love Is", "Born In The U.S.A", the incredible "Careless Whisper", and the underrated gem "Easy Lover" (with Earth, Wind and Fire's Philip Bailey) 😍😍😍 Also, I wonder if chart watchers back in 2000 were expecting "Smooth" to be dethroned by Christina Aguilera's second single, despite Britney failing to reach the heights of "...BOMT" with her following singles.

Another unofficial upload of "Blueberry Fuego" by Lil Mosey is in the Spotify top 200. This song is huge on TikTok; I’m surprised he hasn’t released it officially. It could probably be his biggest hit with promotion and stuff.

I wonder if chart watchers back in 2000 were expecting "Smooth" to be dethroned by Christina Aguilera's second single, despite Britney failing to reach the heights of "...BOMT" with her following singles. It wasn't a surprise; Christina released a physical commercial single for "WAGW" so its jump to the top was expected. Britney didn't release commercial singles for the follow-ups to "...BOMT" so they charted solely off of airplay, which wasn't her strongest metric at the time.
