#38 - Softly And TenderlyWriter: Will Lamartine Thompson Origin: Sing It Now: Songs Of Faith & Hope (Reba McEntire album) Year of release: 2017 Billboard Christian Songs peak: #43 Total Points: 226 castleoblivion26 - 8 bboat11 - 14 ccarter1023 - 33 someguy - 34 tim - 43 taylor - 45 .indulgecountry - 49 Out at #38 is "Softly And Tenderly", a collaboration with Reba McEntire and Kelly Clarkson from Reba's 2017 gospel album Sing It Now: Songs Of Faith & Hope. The song marks the trio's second collaboration, after "Silent Night" from Kelly's holiday album, Wrapped In Red. The song was on place to finish in the top 30, but the last two ranks from taylor and .indulgecountry pushed it down significantly. It also didn't help that this area of the rankdown was very close, as the song finished one point ahead of our #39 song, and one point behind our #37. castleoblivion26 becomes the next person to lose a top 10.

#37 - Something So RightWriter: Enola Beahm Origin: For Love Of The Game (soundtrack) Year of release: 1999 Total Points: 225 ccarter1023 - 19 .indulgecountry - 23 tim - 27 taylor - 27 someguy - 38 castleoblivion26 - 45 bboat11 - 46 At #37 we say goodbye to "Something So Right", Trisha's contribution to the soundtrack of the 1999 Kevin Costner movie For Love Of The Game. This was always middle of the pack in our rankdown, with no real high highs or low lows in terms of ranks. I like the song well enough, but I feel like it gets a little monotonous as it goes on. I think it could have benefitted from being a little shorter.

#36 - Love Will Always WinWriters: Gordon Kennedy, Wayne Kirkpatrick Origin: The Lost Sessions (Garth Brooks album) Year of release: 2006 Billboard Country Airplay peak: #23 Total Points: 225 bboat11 - 10 ccarter1023 - 26 castleoblivion26 - 26 someguy - 32 .indulgecountry - 40 taylor - 41 tim - 50 Next up is our next Garth Brooks collaboration, "Love Will Always Win". The song was included on Garth's album The Lost Sessions, and was released as its third single, eventually reaching #23 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart. The song was also recorded by Faith Hill, whose version wound up on an international greatest hits collection, There You'll Be. The song saw mixed results here, finishing in bboat11's top 10 but also in tim's bottom three. bboat11's top 10 placement was enough to help it break the tie with our #37 song, "Something So Right". It was in our top 30 until the last two lists were received.

I just get so much more from Faith Hill’s rendition of “Love Will Always Win.” Her version makes me FEEL EVERYTHING.

I just find Garth and Trisha's take on this song to be insufferable mostly due to the production. It definitely had the potential to be an epic duet, but because Garth likes to lean on to the same production style of his 90s music it was just never going to be as good as it could've been. Because of that this song has always been a hard pass for me.

Honestly, I probably overranked this song because of Faith's version ![:dead:](http://ruadventures.com/forum/Smileys/animated/smiley_resurrect_grave.gif) Faith's version absolutely blows the rafters off of the room! Garth and Trisha's is neutered and a bit lame by comparison.

And also, picture my surprise when I'm listening through this playlist and all of a sudden Trisha starts singing a Reba song! I had no idea "Nothin' To Lose" was a Trisha cover! It has always been one of my least favorite songs on the Keep On Loving You album, but frankly that's mostly just due to the strength of the album. The song holds its own a lot better outside of that context, as a standalone recording. I'd easily put Reba's above Trisha's, although I did enjoy Trisha's quite a bit as well. Reba's just got that fiery energy that comes so naturally to her when she does uptempo work, so it would be hard for anyone to compete with her on a song like this...

#35 - Blue BeyondWriters: Gordon Kennedy, Blair Masters Origin: The Fox and the Hound 2 (soundtrack) Year of release: 2006 Total Points: 216 taylor - 17 castleoblivion26 - 21 someguy - 24 .indulgecountry - 29 bboat11 - 36 ccarter1023 - 43 tim - 46 Out at #35 is "Blue Beyond", Trisha's contribution to the soundtrack of Disney's straight to video movie The Fox and the Hound 2. The film had a further country connection as Reba McEntire voiced one of the characters, and also contributed to the soundtrack herself. This song was always in the middle of the pack of submissions. No one loses any really high or low ranks with this one's exit.

#34 - You'll Never Walk AloneWriters: Richard Rodgers, Oscar Hammerstein II Origin: The Passion (soundtrack) Year of release: 2013 Total Points: 216 tim - 7 taylor - 25 bboat11 - 33 .indulgecountry - 35 ccarter1023 - 36 castleoblivion26 - 37 someguy - 43 Next, we lose our second song from The Passion, "You'll Never Walk Alone". It was actually tied in points with our #5, "Blue Beyond", but tim's #7 rank gave it the edge. It initially got off to a slow start here, but tim's top 10 ranking boosted it up into the top 40, where it was able to remain from that point on. #34 seems like an accurate place for it to leave, as most of its rankings fell in the 33-37 range. The song, written by Rodgers & Hammerstein, first appeared in their 1945 musical Carousel.

The song was always a mid-tier placer during the submission process, but got a little boost at the end with its only top placements being our last two lists received.

#32 - I Remember YouWriters: Kelly Archer, Ben Caver, Brad Rempel Origin: PrizeFighter: Hit After HitYear of release: 2014 Total Points: 207 tim - 12 someguy - 22 castleoblivion26 - 24 taylor - 28 ccarter1023 - 37 .indulgecountry - 39 bboat11 - 45 PrizeFighter: Hit After Hit takes its first hit, as "I Remember You" leaves us at #32. The album was comprised of re-recordings of 10 of Trisha's biggest hits, as well as six new songs. "I Remember You" was one of the six new songs, and served as the album's second single. Trisha dedicated it to the memory of her mother, and her sister provides background vocals. The single did not chart.

"I Remember You" was destined to flop anyway, but they literally couldn't have picked a worse single from the remaining new songs if they wanted to try another one at radio from PrizeFighter.

#31 - Follow The WindWriters: R. Kelly Origin: Life (soundtrack) Year of release: 1999 Total Points: 207 .indulgecountry - 12 taylor - 15 ccarter1023 - 24 castleoblivion26 - 34 bboat11 - 37 tim - 41 someguy - 44 "Follow The Wind" leaves at #31, winning the tie with our #32, "I Remember You". They both have the same high ranking, a #12. But, "Follow The Wind"'s second highest ranking, taylor's #15, is higher than "I Remember You"'s second highest ranking, my #22. The song, written by disgraced singer/songwriter R. Kelly is from the Martin Lawrence/Eddie Murphy movie Life. Its two top 15 rankings came with our last two lists received, and so it was able to jump up and challenge for the top 30 at the very end of the submission process.

I totally agree! There were so many better choices just sitting there. There were a couple of real missed opportunities in that batch of songs.

PrizeFighter: Hit After Hit takes its first hit, as "I Remember You" leaves us at #32. The album was comprised of re-recordings of 10 of Trisha's biggest hits, as well as six new songs. Oh, I didn't realize this album was all re-recordings of the hits! I've never listened to it, but I just assumed it was just the original hits with new songs thrown into the mix. I'll have to check it out, 'cause the production of those new songs was top notch. I bet the hits sound great with that more modern, updated production!

The reasoning behind it was that she had switched labels and no longer had the rights to the original versions of the songs. She even got her duet partners (Garth Brooks, Don Henley) to return for the re-recordings.

#30 - ShallowWriters: Lady Gaga, Andrew Wyatt, Anthony Rossomando, Mark Ronson Origin: Fun (Garth Brooks album) Year of release: 2020 Billboard Country Airplay peak: #31 (and rising) Total Points: 207 someguy - 12 ccarter1023 - 14 castleoblivion26 - 17 bboat11 - 34 tim - 38 .indulgecountry - 46 taylor - 46 We kick off our top 30 with "Shallow", Trisha's current single and latest duet with Garth Brooks. The song currently sits at #31 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart, and has the potential to become Trisha's biggest hit in a long time if it keeps climbing. The song is a cover of the Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper duet from the movie A Star Is Born. Their version was a huge success, winning an Oscar and reaching #1 on the Hot 100. Garth and Trisha sang it a couple of times on Garth's "Studio G" weekly Facebook stream, and was so popular among his fans that they decided to record it, and ended up releasing it as the fourth single from his recent studio album Fun. With 207 points, it was tied with our #31 and #32 song. Like those songs, its highest rank was my #12 ranking, but ccarter1023's #14 allowed to break the tie, and be the song that made the top 30. It was actually on track to do much better here, but the pair of #46 rankings it received at the very end of the submission process sunk it significantly.

It's a cover of the lead single from Jewel's 1998 album Spirit. I think Trisha sounds great here, as usual. The song was always destined for the middle of the pack here, as most ranks came in the 20s and 30s. Looking back, I probably underranked it a little bit.

#27 - The FlameWriters: Joe Henry, John Barlow Jarvis Origin: 1996 Summer Olympics Year of release: 1996 Total Points: 202 taylor - 10 tim - 23 .indulgecountry - 28 bboat11 - 29 castleoblivion26 - 31 ccarter1023 - 34 someguy - 47 At #27, "The Flame" leaves. Trisha sang the song at the 1996 Summer Olympics, and it was used as a theme for the games that year. It would also later appear as a bonus track on the international version of Songbook: A Collection Of Hits. Trisha sounds phenomenal, but I found the song on the boring side, which is why I ranked it how I did. I probably underraked it a little, though. taylor loses a top 10 with its exit.

#26 - The Call "The Call"Writer: Garth Brooks Origin: Blame It All On My Roots (Garth Brooks boxed set - DVD only) Year of release: 2013 Billboard Country Airplay peak: #49 Total Points: 198 ccarter1023 - 12 someguy - 15 bboat11 - 18 castleoblivion26 - 19 tim - 35 taylor - 49 .indulgecountry - 50 We lose another Garth Brooks collaboration, as "The Call" exits at #26. Such a simple song, but I love this one. It is extremely hard to find. I have an old version of it somewhere, but the only recorded version I'm aware of is from Garth's Vegas shows. It is included on Blame It All On My Roots, Garth's boxed set, but unfortunately only appears on the DVD and not on any of the actual CDs. It was actually on track to do fairly well here, and make the top 20, but the last two lists received both had it in the bottom 5, which knocked it way back. Everyone else had it in their top 35, with four of us putting it in our top 20. Not too bad for such an obscure song!

#25 - Wild As The WindWriters: Pete Wasner, Charles John Quarto Origin: Double Live (Garth Brooks album) Year of release: 1998 Billboard Country Airplay peak: #60 Total Points: 196 castleoblivion26 - 11 bboat11 - 20 someguy - 21 taylor - 23 tim - 32 ccarter1023 - 38 .indulgecountry - 51 Back to back Garth collaborations leave, as "Wild As The Wind" exits at #25. The song is one of three new tracks that appeared on Garth's 1998 set Double Live. Though it was not released as a single, unsolicited airplay took it to #60 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart. This was a middle of the pack song through most of the submission process. No one loses a top 10, though castleoblivion26 comes close, while .indulgecountry finally loses his #51. This leaves "In Another's Eyes" as the final remaining Garth collaboration.
