#6 - You're Where I BelongWriter: Diane Warren Origin: Stuart Little (soundtrack) Year of release: 1999 Billboard Country Airplay peak: #71 Total Points: 99 castleoblivion26 - 3 bboat11 - 5 ccarter1023 - 7 tim - 14 .indulgecountry - 14 someguy - 20 taylor - 36 "You're Where I Belong" leaves at #6, just short of our top 10. It was an AC hit for Trisha, and was released at the end of her big hit period at t the end of the 1990s. I'm surprised it did as well as it did.

I put “ Met Him In A Motel Room” at #6 and not sure it’s possible for me to have three rankings for #13 ;)
I haven’t had a chance to catch up yet, but I will swing back around this afternoon for some thoughts!

I have been a huge fan of "You're Where I Belong" since it first came out. I did consider putting it as my #1 but had to go with "In Another's Eyes". Looking back on it I do wish I had put it as my #2 though over the song that I have there even though that one is still in lol
the entire Top 5 is in my Top 10 so overall I'm happy with this top 5 as these songs are fantastic!

Time to catch up before this thing gets all wrapped up lol!
“In Another’s Eyes” is one of those songs that just hasn’t aged well to me for whatever reason. It’s still a great duet, but I find that I have little to no desire to revisit the song at all which is somewhat surprising to me because I really enjoyed this back in the day.
I had totally forgotten that Trisha recorded her own version of “To Make You Feel My Love” for the Hope Floats soundtrack. Like some of the others here, I myself am partial to Garth’s version as I’m not really sure she adds much herself to the cover.
I wish I had been able to find room in my top ten for “You Can’t Trust the Weatherman” because it’s a fun listen. It’s also a a cleverly written song!
Of all the songs I hadn’t heard before, “Met Him In a Hotel Room” was my favorite discovery as it’s so well-written. Between that and Trisha’s voice it’s just a standout of a song and one that looking back should’ve been a single. Unfortunately, given the state of country radio in 2014 this likely wouldn’t have been a hit though. I think had this song been released ten years prior though it could’ve been a hit.
What a stellar top five! I think the top three will likely come down to “How Do I Live”, “Perfect Love”, and “She Can’t Save Him” with “On My Own” and “Broken” bowing out before then.

#5 - BrokenWriter: Jason Wade Origin: The Passion (soundtrack) Year of release: 2016 Billboard AC Airplay peak: #16 Total Points: 98 bboat11 - 2 taylor - 5 castleoblivion26 - 6 someguy - 11 tim - 11 .indulgecountry - 22 ccarter1023 - 41 We kick off our top 5 with "Broken", the lead (and only) single from the soundtrack of The Passion. The song became a hit at Adult Contemporary radio, where it would peak at #16. The song was originally recorded by Lifehouse, and written by the band's lead singer, Jason Wade. It's the best performing song from its soundtrack in our rankdown. Three top 10s (and two #11s) are lost here, including bboat11's #2.

#4 - On My OwnWriters: Burt Bacharach, Carole Bayer Sager Origin: Starting Over (Reba McEntire album) Year of release: 1995 Billboard Country Airplay peak: #20 Total Points: 85 tim - 4 castleoblivion26 - 5 ccarter1023 - 6 .indulgecountry - 8 bboat11 - 8 someguy - 10 taylor - 44 tim called our top 3, as the star-studded collaboration "On My Own" is our #4. The song served as the lead single to Reba McEntire's 1995 covers album, Starting Over. In addition to Trisha, the song also features Martina McBride and Linda Davis. It got off to a quick start, but stalled out at #20 at country radio. It was very, very different from everything else being played on the radio at the time. Patti Labelle and Michael McDonald recorded the original version of the song. It was a very consistent finisher here. 6 out of the 7 of us have it in our top 10s, with taylor's #44 being the lone outlier. Even without that rank, it didn't have a chance at cracking our top 3 though.

#3 - She Can't Save HimWriters: Liz Hengber, Bob Regan Origin: Reba Duets (Reba McEntire album) Year of release: 2007 Total Points: 56 castleoblivion26 - 2 tim - 3 .indulgecountry - 4 bboat11 - 4 someguy - 7 ccarter1023 - 10 taylor - 26 We lose our final two Reba collaborations back to back, as "She Can't Save Him" finishes at #3. The song was included on Reba's 2007 album Reba Duets. It was originally recorded by Canadian country singer Lisa Brokop, who released her version as a single in 1996. This was a very strong finisher here, being solidly in third place for most of the submission process. It never really had a chance at making the top 2, though. Once again, 6 out of 7 of us had this in our top 10, with taylor's #26 being the lone outlier. castleoblivion26 loses his #2 with this loss.

That means that it comes down to the battle of the Songbook hits, as many predicted initially. Both of our top 2 are the only songs to be in everybody's top 10. In fact, each song is also in 6 out of 7 top 5s as well. Both of our top 2 dominated throughout the entire submission process, but which one will win?

#2 - Perfect LoveWriters: Sunny Russ, Stephony Smith Origin: Songbook: A Collection Of Hits Year of release: 1997 Billboard Country Airplay peak: #1 Total Points: 28 someguy - 1 taylor - 2 .indulgecountry - 2 bboat11 - 3 ccarter1023 - 5 tim - 5 castleoblivion26 - 10 "Perfect Love" finishes at #2. I absolutely love this song. It's such a fun, feel good uptempo, and Trisha sings it to perfection. It was releases as a single in January 1998, where it shot to #1, becoming Trisha's fifth song to do so. It was one of three new songs from Trisha's 1997 hits package Songbook: A Collection Of Hits. That album became the most successful of Trisha's career, selling over 4 million copies in the US and becoming her first #1 album. It was a really strong finisher here, holding down the #2 pretty much the entire time. It had 6 top five placements, including my #1.

#1 - How Do I LiveWriter: Diane Warren Origin: Songbook: A Collection Of Hits Year of release: 1997 Total Points: 18 ccarter1023 - 1 tim - 1 .indulgecountry - 1 bboat11 - 1 someguy - 2 castleoblivion26 - 4 taylor - 8 And our winner is "How Do I Live"! Really, how could it be anything else? The song catapulted Trisha's career into the stratosphere when it was released as a single in the Spring of 1997. It wasn't without its controversies, though. Diane Warren had written the song, and the producers of the Nicholas Cage movie Con Air had acquired it to use in the film. They first went to LeAnn Rimes, whose career was white hot at the time. LeAnn turned in a great version, but the producers felt that she wasn't old enough to convey the emotion that they were looking for in the song. They then asked Trisha to record it, which she did, and her version ended up being used in the movie. Then, Curb Records decided to release LeAnn's version as a single anyway, and it went to pop radio the same day as Trisha's version did. Trisha's was the version that country radio took to, and it made it all the way to #2. Pop, however, went with LeAnn's version, where it also became a massive hit. Both versions were nominated for the Grammy for Best Country Vocal Performance, Female with Trisha ultimately winning. The song was also nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song, and Trisha performed it on the telecast. 6 people had this in their top 5, including four #1 ranks. It was the only song to be at #1 on more than one person's list.

Thanks to everyone who participated! I know 52 songs was a daunting list, but hopefully everyone was able to find some new discoveries that they liked. I'll launch the final installment in this series, the album tracks rankdown, tomorrow.

"How Do I Live" is such a great winner! My #8 looks like I'm disappointed, but like I said, my entire Top 15 or so were songs I wanted to put at #1 but couldn't. I adore this song. <3 Thanks for hosting someguy

Perfect rankings for my top 2! I'm GAGGED! Wonderful finish to a rather tumultuous and fairly unpredictable rankdown. These two songs are just incredible, particularly "How Do I Live" which is just a vocal masterclass. Beautiful song.

Thrilled to see "You're Where I Belong" as high as #6!! I feel like soundtrack songs have a lot of potential to be truly great, but especially when you don't know that they exist and all of a sudden the movie ends and you're about ready to switch it off or leave the theater or whatever and all of a sudden a voice starts singing and you're like, "Wait a second, is that....??!" That's the way this one was for me!! Totally enamored from the moment it started. I will acknowledge that it works perfectly at the end of the movie, but is probably a bit less exciting as a standalone listen. Still, very happy to see it do this well!! "Broken" is my JAM!!!! I rocked out to this one sooooooo hard back when it was released ![](http://i.imgur.com/2smy76v.gif) Her vocal here is absolute perfection!!! Literally perfect in every way. I would have never expected it to beat either of the huge hit singles or either of the Reba features, so #5 was about the best-case scenario that I had in my head, and it pulled it off, so I'm thrilled! "On My Own" is always such an interesting and unpredictable song for these rankdowns... I'm glad to see it do relatively better here than it has ever done before! It only made it to #3 in the album rd, #9 in Martina's Extras rd, and #59 in Reba's singles rd... I bet it won't do that well when we finally do the 1995 year-end rd, so this might be the overall best finish relative to the amount of songs that we'll ever see for it! Reba Duets is the album that keeps on giving, lmao. I figured "She Can't Save Him" would be an easy top 3, if not a dark horse contender to win! "Sleeping With The Telephone" featuring Faith Hill was the winner of the Duets album rd, then became a runaway top 2 contender in Faith's Extras, and only lost by 1 point. It also was a runaway top 2 contender in Reba's '00s album tracks rd. "She Can't Save Him" was #4 in the album rd, so it is also super well loved. It only made it to #19 in Reba's '00s album tracks rd, so it's not quite as formidable among Reba's own catalog, but I knew it would be a super strong competitor in this context. I'm sure the album's #2 finisher, "When You Love Someone Like That" would also be a strong top 3 competitor if we ever do an album series for LeAnn Rimes that includes an Extras rd! "Perfect Love" is a catchy hit, and one of her uptempos that has aged the best imo. Definitely a fitting #2 finisher! "How Do I Live" was the ONLY choice for #1 though, so what a perfect ending! Her vocal here is stunning, and easily one of my favorite songs of her entire career ![](http://i.imgur.com/2smy76v.gif) (I think it was my #1 in the singles rd, so that says it all, lol) Thanks for hosting someguy! Excited to see how the album tracks go!

Oh wow! "How Do I Live" finished this rd with a final score of 4.95 out of 100, and it has now unseated Martina for the highest-finishing (or most agreed-upon) rankdown winner of all time!!!!!
The top 5 now looks like this:
1. Trisha Yearwood Extras: "How Do I Live" (4.95) 2. Gretchen Peters Songwriter RD: "Independence Day" (5.21) 3. Martina McBride Singles 2.0: "Independence Day" (6.29) 4. Martina McBride Extras: "Concrete Angel" (6.88) 5. Martina McBride Singles 1.0: "Independence Day" (8.23)
Lmao Martina has consistently dominated the highest-finishers list, as you can see 😂 However, it looks like Extras rds in general are conducive to highly agreed-upon finishers. Must be because they usually have long lists, with just a couple fairly obvious winners.
The next two are:
6. Lee Ann Womack Extras: "The Wrong Girl" (8.93) 7. George Strait Extras: "Check Yes Or No" (9.57)

This song isn't in the next Trisha rankdown since it was a single but I thought this video was just so cute and shows off Trisha's powerful voice and the lovely harmony vocals between Kelly C and Trisha. Love it!

I’m about to dig my heels into this, but before I do I did have a couple of questions or observations that I’m sure some others might be thinking as well.
The first being is that I noticed “Come Fly With Me” is included in lieu of “For the Last Time” from Trisha’s Let’s Be Frank album. Was that ever actually officially released as a single? Anyways, I’m sure there’s a reason for including one over the other I was just curious lol.
Lastly, others can correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think it’s necessarily been common practice to include album tracks from holiday albums or songs that were included in an artists extras rankdown. I really only bring this up because it adds about ten songs to the list which makes it all that more intimidating for others and may even deter some from participating at all. This would be by far the largest album tracks rankdown done surpassing the likes of George, Reba, Faith Hill, and Jo Dee Messina (although to be fair George and Reba's are being split by decade).
Anyways, this is more or less just me thinking out loud as I get ready to dive into this lol! I'm looking forward to revisiting Trisha's album tracks as a year has already passed since this was officially launched.

Anyways, this is more or less just me thinking out loud as I get ready to dive into this lol! I'm looking forward to revisiting Trisha's album tracks as a year has already passed since this was officially launched. Castle has always put the Extras into his, so there is precedent for that. I usually opt not to, but that's mostly just because Martina's album tracks rd was my first one and it was already so long I wanted to keep it from being longer. However, since then I have been known to squeeze in the ones that make sense (like "Why" into Faith's rd to replace a removed song, "Myself Without You" in Reba's '00s rd and "Murder On Music Row"/"Designated Drinker" in George's '00s rd because they're all important fan favorites). I'd say Trisha is closer to a Martina situation than any other album tracks rd we've done, but I can see the appeal behind including them as well (I will throw in that Martina also didn't really have any album tracks all that high in her Extras rd, as most of the top 7-8 were released as singles in some form or another. Like, I think the highest non-single was "Nashville Girls"? Lol which is not exactly "essential" to her career. Whereas Trisha has a lot more high-finishing non-single extras!) So ultimately I could see going either way. Christmas songs there is no precedent for, although these 5 Christmas songs are more memorable to me than at least 80% of this list, so take that as you will ![:giggle:](//storage.proboards.com/1258812/images/aSdDjxeFubxIlbMzpKXc.gif) I will say I am considering throwing a couple Christmas songs into the Carrie Underwood album tracks rd because of how much hype her Christmas album had recently, so it might not be unheard of for much longer. It won't have 5 songs though. I think I am going to split the Christmas/Worship albums like 2 songs from My Gift and then 3 songs from My Savior, so that the two albums only take up as much space as one era rather than two. I do agree that this one might be a bit large, however I also tend to see album tracks rds through the lens of "the same people who aren't going to participate because it is 70 songs probably still aren't going to participate even if it is only 40 songs", lol. So I can definitely see the logic of both sides. But my advice would be, if the Extras feel unnecessary, they probably are. That being said, I will still happily participate either way! I could definitely see 70 songs being a turnoff, but I also don't think anyone who is turned off by 70 songs is going to be suddenly eager to jump in if it's only 60 songs, lol. I'm happy with whatever you go with someguy ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

I agree that someone who is turned off by 70 songs all of a sudden isn't likely going to be any more inclined to participate should it only be 60. The Tractors are going to show up regardless, so it's a moot point in the end lol. In regards to some of the extra songs, I think in this case it'll be interesting to see how the songs from PrizeFighter match up against some of her other material. I'm rather ambivalent about Christmas songs however if only because they're likely to get tanked anyways. Now, had we been talking about "Another Angel Gets Its Wings" being in the mix I might be looking at this through a different lens lol. Anyways, like I mentioned above I was just more or less thinking out loud and will of course be participating no holds barred!

So...I was geeking out on YouTube the other night and somehow I came upon this performance of Trisha singing "You're the Devil in Disguise" from a CMA Celebration of Country Music in 1992! Anyways, I know this is going back several reveals from the extras rankdown, but I still thought it appropriate to post here lol.

I'd prefer to keep the album tracks, because most came from Prizefighter, which was like a mini-album. So they aren't so completely random. And I can also take out the Christmas songs if people prefer. Something else I can do is split it into 90s and 2000-now, so the lists aren't so long. But then again, I'd love to wrap up this series soon. Anyway, I'm certainly open to suggestions. "For The Last Time" was an AC single (as were both "You're Where I Belong" and "Broken"), so that's why they didn't get included here.
