#10 - Oh Lonesome YouWriters: Jamie O'Hara, Kieran Kane Total Points: 94 austin - 4 Troublemaker - 5 castleoblivion26 - 5 fearlessarrow - 6 .indulgecountry - 7 taylor - 7 ClevelandRox - 8 someguy - 8 tim - 8 BackwoodsBarbie - 9 jenglisbe - 9 Kanenrá:ke - 9 bboat11 - 9 The songs at the bottom of the rankdown were all fairly close together. 14 points separate #5 from #10, which is the same amount of points that separates #5 from #3. "Oh Lonesome You", while always near the bottom of the pack, wasn't really a major contender for last place, but slowly slid down near the end of the submission process. In fact, it was our final two ranks, from ClevelandRox and Kanenrá:ke, that pushed it down to the very bottom. No one loses their last place, but four people lose their #9. The highest rank lost is austin's #4. The song features harmony vocals from Vince Gill. The two vocalists would collaborate many more times over the course of their careers.

#9 - You Don't Have To Move That MountainWriters: Keith Whitley Total Points: 92 .indulgecountry - 4 taylor - 4 austin - 5 castleoblivion26 - 7 fearlessarrow - 7 ClevelandRox - 7 tim - 7 jenglisbe - 7 Kanenrá:ke - 8 Troublemaker - 8 BackwoodsBarbie - 8 bboat11 - 10 someguy - 10 "You Don't Have To Move That Mountain" was one of the two songs that were looking most likely to be our last place song for most of the submission process (spoiler alert: the other one made it all the way up to #6 - and actually tied in points with #5 - due to some very high ranks coming in near the end). Written by Keith Whitley, the song reminds me thematically and lyrically of "I'm Gonna Take That Mountain", which would go on to be a hit for Reba McEntire over 10 years later. bboat11 and I both lose our last places, and alternately, .indulgecountry and taylor both lose their #4. Harmony vocals on this song are again provided by Vince Gill.

Next we have the most polarizing song of the rankdown. We lose our first #1 and #2, and also three people lose their #10.

I have to stop here for a bit, but will return later today to take us inside the top 5. Next up, at #7, we lose our first single! Will it be "Wrong Side Of Memphis", "Walkaway Joe", "You Say You Will" or "Down On My Knees"?

"You Say You Will" is my guess for the first single leaving us.
I'll give Thinkin' About You a spin tomorrow and have my list in!

Nearest Distant Shore is gorgeous. I first heard this song a few years ago - It was live version on a Big Bang Concert Series: Trisha Yearwood (Live) album which was one of the three Trisha's albums that were not geo-blocked in my country - and I liked this song imidiately and today I like it even more. She sounds absolutely amazing and lyrics are beautiful too. I also really like this live version from 1993 concert - I think she sounds and looks great.
"You vowed you would not fail
But this ain't success it's a living hell
There's nothing left to lose you're already alone"

#7 - You Say You WillWriters: Beth Neilson Chapman, Verlon Thomas Total Points: 84 fearlessarrow - 3 castleoblivion26 - 4 Troublemaker - 4 someguy - 5 jenglisbe - 5 tim - 6 ClevelandRox - 6 austin - 6 bboat11 - 8 .indulgecountry - 8 taylor - 9 BackwoodsBarbie - 10 Kanenrá:ke - 10 taylor was right - "You Say You Will" is the single that leaves us at #7. While not quite as polarizing as "Nearest Distant Shore", "You Say You Will" proved to be pretty polarizing in its own right. fearlessarrow loses a #3, while both BackwoodsBarbie and Kanenrá:ke lose their #10s. This was always the lowest ranked single, but was a legitimate top 5 contender for the first half of the submission process. The song was sent out as the third single from Hearts In Armor. It became Trisha's first top 10 miss, when it peaked at #12 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart. Raul Malo of The Mavericks provides harmony vocals on this one (along with Trisha).

Our #5 and #6 songs tied with 80 points. They also each had the same highest ranking (#2) and the same second highest ranking (#3). One had 3 #10 rankings (tied for the most with "Nearest Distant Shore") and one only had 1 #10 ranking, so that is what I used to break the tie.

#6 - Woman Walk The LineWriters: Emmylou Harris, Paul Kennerley Total Points: 80 Kanenrá:ke - 2 taylor - 3 jenglisbe - 4 tim - 4 ClevelandRox - 4 fearlessarrow - 5 .indulgecountry - 5 bboat11 - 7 BackwoodsBarbie - 7 someguy - 9 austin - 10 castleoblivion26 - 10 Troublemaker - 10 "Woman Walk The Line" is the loser of our tiebreaker, and therefore misses the top 5. It has the same number of points as our #5, and also the highest first and second ranks (in this case, Kanenrá:ke's #2 and taylor's #3). It also received three last place ranks, from austin, Troublemaker and castleoblivion26, which is what caused it to lose the tiebreaker. This and "You Don't Have To Move That Mountain" were the leading contenders to be out #10 for almost the whole time. But, thanks to a string of top 5 ranks at the end (the last 4 lists received were among the highest ranks it received: 3, 5, 4, 2). In a very close race, that lifted it from #10 to #6 (and almost #5). One of the song's co-writers, Emmylou Harris, provides harmony vocals on this song.

This song was TERRIBLE, I am sorry. Otherwise, this album was a really nice listen/rediscovery, and I think the only album of hers that I didnt previously spin at least 10x times.

That takes us to our top 4:
Wrong Side Of Memphis Walkaway Joe Down On My Knees Hearts In Armor
Three singles and the title track, which is our most popular album track. I'll stop there for today, and will plan on finishing this tomorrow (morning hopefully).

Wait, taylor put “Wrong Side Of Memphis” in last place, didn’t she⚰️ (Her default position for uptempo hits from the ‘90s)

#4 - Hearts In ArmorWriter: Jude Johnstone Total Points: 70 jenglisbe - 1 BackwoodsBarbie - 2 taylor - 2 bboat11 - 4 fearlessarrow - 4 tim - 5 Kanenrá:ke - 5 someguy - 6 Troublemaker - 6 castleoblivion26 - 8 austin - 9 .indulgecountry - 9 ClevelandRox - 9 Our final album track, the album's title track, "Hearts In Armor", leaves us at #4. This is the other song on the album that features harmony vocals from Don Henley of The Eagles (the other being the album's biggest hit single, "Walkaway Joe"). jenglisbe becomes the next person to lose their #1. No #10s are lost here, but three people ( austin, .indulgecountry and ClevelandRox) see their #9 go here. This was always among the highest ranked album tracks, put really pulled ahead of the rest within the last third of submissions. It was never in contention for the top 2, but it did have a chance at catching #3. It didn't quite make it, though.

#3 - Down On My KneesWriter: Beth Neilson Chapman Total Points: 66 tim - 2 castleoblivion26 - 3 austin - 3 someguy - 3 bboat11 - 3 .indulgecountry - 3 ClevelandRox - 5 BackwoodsBarbie - 5 Kanenrá:ke - 6 jenglisbe - 6 Troublemaker - 7 taylor - 10 fearlessarrow - 10 The other Beth Neilson Chapman written single, "Down On My Knees", leaves us at #3. This had a shot at #2 at one point, but some lower ranks in the last third of submissions (including #10 rankings from both taylor and fearlessarrow) made the gap between #2 and #3 too large for it to overcome, and it ended up finishing much closer to #4 than to #2. This was the album's fourth and final single, and always seems like a bigger hit to me than its #19 peak would suggest. This is the only song on the album without guest vocals from a prominent artist.

With that, all of our last place ranks have now been eliminated. This leaves us down to the two biggest hit singles as our final 2:
Wrong Side Of Memphis vs. Walkaway Joe

#2 - Wrong Side Of MemphisWriter: Gary Harrison, Matraca Berg Total Points: 43 ClevelandRox - 1 Kanenrá:ke - 1 castleoblivion26 - 2 austin - 2 fearlessarrow - 2 bboat11 - 2 .indulgecountry - 2 tim - 3 jenglisbe - 3 someguy - 4 BackwoodsBarbie - 4 taylor - 8 Troublemaker - 9 Our runner-up is "Wrong Side Of Memphis", the album's lead single and #5 Billboard hit. Written by Gary Harrison and Matraca Berg, this has gone on to become one of Trisha's signature hits. Originally recorded by John Berry, it was included on his 1990 album Saddle In The Wind. It was never released as a single and, two years later, Trisha recorded it and released it as the lead single to Hearts In Armor. In the video above, Trisha and Matraca talk about (and perform) the song, and Matraca explains how the song is semi-autobiographical for her. This never had a chance at being #1, but was the leading #2 contender for almost all of the rankdown. "Down On My Knees" and "Nearest Distant Shore" put up a little fight at the beginning, but from about our fifth list, this pulled away and was uncatchable as our #2. It received a lot of #2 ranks, but actually didn't receive any #1s until our last two lists, from ClevelandRox and Kanenrá:ke. Harmony vocals are provided by Harry Stinson and Raul Malo.

#1 - Walkaway JoeWriter: Vince Melamed, Greg Barnhill Total Points: 19 castleoblivion26 - 1 austin - 1 fearlessarrow - 1 bboat11 - 1 .indulgecountry - 1 tim - 1 someguy - 1 BackwoodsBarbie - 1 taylor - 1 jenglisbe - 2 ClevelandRox - 2 Kanenrá:ke - 3 Troublemaker - 3 To probably no one's surprise, "Walkaway Joe" ran away with this. Easily the album's biggest hit, it dominated during this process. It received 9 #1 ranks (out of 13 participants). It also received two #2s and two #3s, meaning that it was in absolutely everyone's top 3. Written by Vince Melamed and Greg Barnhill, the song features prominent background vocals from Don Henley, and is sometimes marketed as a collaboration between the two singers. Don appears alongside Trisha in the music video, along with Matthew McConaughey, who plays "Walkaway Joe" himself. The song spent time at #2 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart, and also earned Trisha a nomination for Best Country Vocal Performance, Female at the 1994 Grammy Awards. She lost that award to Mary Chapin Carpenter (for "Passionate Kisses"), but would go on to win it in 1998 for "How Do I Live".

Thanks to everyone for participating! It was really nice to rediscover this album, especially beyond the two big hit singles. Thinkin' About You will start shortly. I'm still waiting on a couple of lists, so anyone is free to participate and submit until I get them! :)

Hearts in Armor is another beautiful Trisha's song. I think she's at her best when she sings this slow piano ballads where emotions are clearly reflected in her voice.
I am very happy that Walkaway Joe won. I wrote a lot about why I love this song so much in her singles rankdown so I won't repeat myself. Walkaway Joe has always been and still is my favourite Trisha Yearwood song and also one of my all time favourite songs.
Wrong Side of Memphis is the song that has grown on me the most since her singles rankdown - I am not usually fan of her more uptempo tracks but this one is actually very good.

Trisha has such a knack for piano ballads that let her really get into the lyrics and allow her voice to shine. "Walkaway Joe" is such an amazing song, and a great example of this. While I do really enjoy the album, it is easily my favourite song on it, and nothing else even comes close.

By the way, we only have 2 more rankdowns to finish until we have to do the next BotB/RotB rankdowns!! At this rate Trisha will probably make it with Thinkin' About You... But I wonder who else! Probably SHeDAISY, unless austin goes so slow that castleoblivion26 is able to beat him with the entire Joe Diffie rankdown. Or I suppose I could potentially manage to beat him with the May New Releases rankdown that I just opened
