Singer will co-produce and star in “music-themed theatrical narrative feature”
Bruno Mars and Disney have inked a deal to develop an upcoming music film. The singer will co-produce and star in the not-yet-named upcoming project, which was announced on Thursday.
While the movie’s plot and other details have not yet been revealed, Mars took to social media to unveil the news of the joint effort. “If your heart is in your dream/No request is too extreme/When you wish upon a star,” he captioned the video post, which featured him playing the Disney classic from Pinocchio, “When You Wish Upon a Star,” on the piano.
According to a statement, the project will be a “music-themed theatrical narrative feature.” This will be Mars’ first major film role; he previously voiced a character in the animated Rio 2 from 2014 and portrayed an Elvis impersonator in 1992’s Honeymoon in Vegas.
In January, Mars teamed up with Charlie Wilson to release “Forever Valentine,” a track Mars sang backup vocals on as well as co-wrote with Wilson, Micah Powell and Seth Reger, and co-produced with his production team the Stereotypes and D’Mile.

spiritboy since they just inked the deal I hope it’s not related to his next album, otherwise we’re in for a longer hiatus, and it’s already been well over 3 years since 24k Magic. I was hoping for another cute well-crafted TV/streaming platform special like Live at the Apollo... But. No. Disney let him be a triple treat in their playground. That actually seems so unlike Disney that it makes me curious about what he brought to the table that made them greenlit his music-themed theatrical narrative feature and give him the lead part and soundtrack. He keeps building connections in the film industry since his debut, but stil lis seems like a bold move on both Bruno and Disney.
As far as new music is concerned. There’s not much… Reportedly he keeps working w/ The Stereotypes and James Fauntleroy who both worked on his 3rd album and came out of hidding for a second to praise Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis on TV and I sure hope that’s a hint.
Always have loved Bruno, looking forward to new music when it eventually comes Also, if he is producing for Kehlani I am excited, a collab between them would be awesome and I desperately want Kehlani to finally get a big hit under her belt
I can actually picture Bruno doing an Evanescence-esque "Bring Me To Life" kind of song alongside a featured artist. And he has shown with "BLOW" that he can handle and excel on hard rock. He's never been much of a rapper though, but that's where the featured artist comes in 😄
But don't forget that before nu-metal, we had Eurodance ⭐

I hope he continues to stay in his lane, wheelhouse and slightly veers nothing drastic. He brings to music what I always need. It takes me back to when I fell in love with music. I mean king of melody!!
I dont need trap and I dont need dance pop or I'll usher you out of my playlist!!
