Girl that's not happening no matter how good her music is; the songs have to be 2019 or newer here 

(Reba is the exception since she re-released "What If" in 2020, so a case can be made there--maybe Martina will see holiday songs chart in a few months since those can be of any age  )

See that's what happens when there's no recurrency rules   Maybe I should take a deeper look at how recurrency works....indulgecountry I've always wondered, are the songs in italics on your chart the ones that are close to recurrency?

Take a drink every time I say recurrency 

The songs in italics on my chart are just anything that moves backwards (so any songs that don't either move up or stay in position, will be italicized). I'd equate it something like a song losing its bullet on the real charts, because sometimes a song might get bumped back a spot or two and then resume climbing, but most of the time it indicates something falling.

I don't have a hard and fast recurrency rule, but I generally have songs that peak in the higher region of the chart fall for at least 3 weeks from their peak, and ones that peak lower sometimes only fall for like 2 weeks (or 1 if they're close to the bottom already).

Week 24: July 24, 2020



After an even 20 weeks on the chart, The Chicks hit #1 with "Gaslighter," the lead single and title track from their first album in 14 years. Moving up right behind them is the Blake/Gwen duet "Nobody But You" and "If I Can't Have You" from Sara Evans, hitting the silver and bronze positions respectively. Also after 20 weeks on, Maren Morris enters the Top 5 with the "latest single" from her sophomore album GIRL, "Flavor," while Luke Combs enters the Top 10 with "Moon Over Mexico." As Dolly Parton continues to chart with "When Life Is Good Again" and her for KING & COUNTRY duet "God Only Knows" falls from the higher regions, we see her song with Zach Williams, "There Was Jesus," take its place, debuting at #49.

The Chicks, while topping this week with "Gaslighter," also see a healthy album bomb benefit their chart status, with a number of album tracks debuting throughout the Top 50 and previously charting tracks climbing high due to heavy album rotation. In fact, the Greatest Gainer honor this week belongs to "March March," which jumps seven positions from last week.

Ignore the banner saying Carrie's Hot 50, as that banner was created before my name change. I'm not gonna bother with having it fixed probably until I see the aesthetic of Carrie's next album era (the one after the Christmas set) so I'll go ahead and have the name be changed then.

Meanwhile, as you can see I'm giving the recurrency setup a trial run! All songs in italics will have either moved down or not moved at all from the previous chart. In this case, all italicized songs have moved down from their July 17 positions.

Bear with me as I catch up to the end of September (and probably the first couple of weeks of October). I'm gonna try to keep this up-to-date towards the end of the year as I do plan on hosting a Year-End rankdown based on this chart!

Week 25: July 31, 2020



Taylor Swift surprises everyone on the chart with the sudden release of her latest record folklore, setting off a massive album bomb in the process. She simultaneously posts all 16 tracks of the standard edition of the album, including the #1 debut of the single "cardigan." Because of this, she blocks Blake Shelton & Gwen Stefani from being able to reach #1, leaving the first male #1 on the chart to remain elusive. Beyond that, nothing else is new.

Luke Combs returns to the Top 10 with "Moon Over Mexico" and Matt Stell enters the Top 20 with "Everywhere But On," while Mickey Guyton and The 1975 debut in the Top 30 and Top 40 respectively, with "Heaven Down Here" and "If You're Too Shy (Let Me Know)."

Week 27: August 14, 2020




Taylor Swift holds onto the top spot for a third consecutive week with "cardigan," once again blocking Sara Evans from entering the penthouse. Taylor's album tracks also continue to stifle movement in the Top 5, forcing Maren Morris' "Flavor" to fall to #5. Another notable entry to the Top 10 is Jon Pardi, whose "Ain't Always the Cowboy" moves 11-10 in its 24th week. After 10 weeks, Katy Perry makes it to the Top 20 with "Daisies," her highest peak since "Never Worn White" made it as high as #26 on the April 24 chart. Maddie & Tae and Gabby Barrett both make it to the Top 30 with "Bathroom Floor" and "The Good Ones" respectively.

Miley Cyrus holds onto the top spot for a second week with "Midnight Sky," while Carly Pearce thumps into the runner-up position with "Heart's Going Out of Its Mind." Miranda Lambert, Matt Stell, and Carrie Underwood all surge into the Top 10 with "Track Record," "Everywhere But On," and "End Up With You" respectively, while elsewhere in the Top 20, Caylee Hammack & Reba McEntire reach a new peak of #14 with "Redhead," and "Bathroom Floor" vaults Maddie & Tae up from #28. In fact, movement is pretty great for a good chunk of songs, thanks to songs going recurrent and the recent Taylor Swift album bomb letting loose of its affect on the chart. This allows for a very healthy amount of songs to enter the chart; a total of 11 songs debut with the Orville Peck/Shania Twain duet "Legends Never Die" being the Hot-Shot at #21.

Week 30: September 4, 2020



Miley Cyrus remains atop the chart for the third consecutive week with the certified bop "Midnight Sky." Expect her to be a chart mainstay through the end of the year, probably a Top 10 staple. Across the chart, a number of songs see huge gains and a number of songs go recurrent or drop down low enough that three new songs have debuted: "Reasons I Drink" makes Alanis Morissette the Hot-Shot at #20, while Parker McCollum and Chris Stapleton file in behind her with "Young Man's Blues" and "Starting Over" at #26 and #30 respectively.

Miranda Lambert snatches the crown from Miley Cyrus, climbing 4-1 with "Track Record," marking her second #1 on the chart and the first country song to occupy the #1 spot in nearly two months, after The Chicks had spent a week there with "Gaslighter" on the July 24 chart. Miley Cyrus drops down to #2, and Matt Stell takes home the bronze with "Everywhere But On." The male #1 has remained elusive on this chart; could Matt be the one to achieve it? Stay tuned! Week 32: September 18, 2020



Matt Stell climbs to the top spot with "Everywhere But On," becoming the first male artist to achieve a #1 on this chart. Carrie Underwood trails behind him at #2 with "End Up With You" while Martina McBride sneaks into the Top 5 with "Girls Like Me" in its 15th week on. Carly Pearce also makes an appearance in the Top 10 as "Next Girl" climbs 12-10 in just its second week. Another notable appearance is the re-entry of Sara Evans' "6th Avenue Heartache" at #30. This comes as the song will be treated on the chart as the second single from the album. This also happens to be the first week where no album tracks from Taylor Swift's folklore make a chart appearance, following an album bomb effect that lasted nearly two months.

Week 38: October 30, 2020




Ariana Grande debuts at #1 with "positions," the lead single from her sixth studio album of the same name. This is her first solo #1 and second overall, after the Lady Gaga collab "Rain On Me" spent a record five weeks at the summit upon release. This is also Ari's third song to chart overall, her previous best peak being the #7 showing of "How I Look On You." Caylee Hammack and Reba McEntire are held back by Ariana's sudden appearance, keeping hold of the runner-up position. (NO pun intended lmao). Parker McCollum enters the Top 10 with "Young Man's Blues" in only his ninth week on. Miley Cyrus comes through with yet another new song, this time a cover of The Cranberries' iconic signature song "Zombie." Miley now notably has three singles charting at the same time. Carrie Underwood is once again the Greatest Gainer this week, this time in tandem with John Legend, climbing 50-42 with the holiday duet "Hallelujah."

Week 40: November 13, 2020




Ariana Grande sticks to the #1 position (pun intended  ) for a third consecutive week. The great debuts from her album release are replaced by a few more new holiday tunes, and the chart is beginning to experience the holiday freeze. In the next few weeks, songs in the mid-lower regions of the chart will start to lose footing as more holiday songs make appearances through the season. The holiday debuts come from the likes of Alan Jackson, Faith Hill, and the trio of Kelly Clarkson/Trisha Yearwood/Reba McEntire. Martina McBride is the Greatest Gainer this week, jumping 50-43 with "Silver Bells."

Ariana Grande doesn't let up on the top spot, as "positions" logs its fourth consecutive week at #1 since its release. With this week logged, "positions" officially ties Miranda Lambert's "Bluebird" for the second-longest stay in the penthouse thus far, behind only the 5-week stay of "Rain On Me." The top region of the chart experiences a slight logjam because of this, with songs struggling to power up and waiting for Ariana to vacate the throne. Gabby Barrett reaches a new peak of #8 with "The Good Ones," the previous peak being its #9 debut after release of its parent album Goldmine. Another new holiday tune debuts this week, this time Taylor Swift's "Christmas Tree Farm." Taylor is joined by Kelsea Ballerini & Shania Twain, who enter inside the Top 40 with a new version of Kelsea's "hole in the bottle." Caylee Hammack and Reba McEntire manage to finally knock Ariana Grande out of the top position (pun intended  ), moving 2-1 with "Redhead." This is Caylee's first trip to the summit and Reba's second. Ariana slips just behind them at #2. Miley Cyrus debuts yet another new song, this time "Prisoner," the second pre-release from her seventh studio and first rock album Plastic Hearts, featuring Dua Lipa. This is Dua's first appearance since "Break My Heart" left the chart a few months back. Carrie Underwood & John Legend enter the Top 20 with the holiday duet "Hallelujah," and Tim McGraw enters the Top 30 with "7500 OBO" in its 14th week on. The Greatest Gainer this week is Martina McBride, who jumps 37-27 with her holiday tune "Silver Bells."
