Hey y'all! I plan on starting my chart on Friday, and I wanted to go over its operation for you:

It'll be a Top 40 chart, with the remaining songs (41-50) being a Bubbling Under extension. (EDIT: effective for the chart dated March 6, 2020, the Bubbling Under extension has been discontinued.)

The chart will be updated every Friday. (Tracking weeks will run from Friday-Thursday with the exception of this week's chart as my last.fm wasn't created until Sunday so the first chart will be Sunday-Thursday)

I will be using the Hot Shot Debut and Greatest Gainer terms as they become applicable, and I'll obviously have a count of where a song was over the previous and current weeks, as well as it's peak position and how many weeks it's been on the chart. If a song hits #1, I'll also count how many weeks it was there.

Only songs as recent as the past couple years are allowed to chart (for instance, it's only the beginning of February so I will allow certain songs from 2018 to chart, but as 2020 progresses, only 2019-20 will be allowed to chart.) Also I'll include live performances if they are released as singles or albums (for instance, "k bye for now")

No recurrency! If I deem a song ready to go, then it's gone lol

Mostly singles, but I will allow album tracks to chart if I listen to them often enough (for instance, "Cruel Summer" would've been #1 for weeks and weeks because I'd listened to it so often when the parent album came out)

EDIT to clarify about album tracks: I will sometimes treat them as singles especially if I feel that the parent album's era was cut off too short or if I disagree with a single choice and would rather chart the preferred song.

Week 1: February 14, 2020


Going ahead and revealing the first chart early so that I can get a little bit of extra sleep tonight, I already have to wake up before dawn tomorrow morning. Anyways, on to the debut of my Top 40!





Lady Antebellum kicks things off, scoring the first-ever #1 on the chart with their song "What If I Never Get Over You," while Miranda Lambert takes the runner-up position with her latest single "Bluebird". Carrie Underwood, Dua Lipa, and Halsey round out the Top 5 as Trea Landon enters at #6 with "Loved By A Country Boy," the first man to appear on the chart. Kacey Musgraves benefits from my recent vinyl purchase of her album Golden Hour, with "High Horse," "Happy & Sad," and "Slow Burn" all appearing. Among the 10-20 range are Ariana Grande, Harry Styles, Lana Del Rey, and Taylor Swift, who enters on her favorite lucky number, #13 and rounds out the Top 20. The first Top 30 entries include Beyoncé, Panic! At the Disco, Nicki Minaj, Ashley McBryde, and Jon Pardi, while Reba McEntire closes out the chart at #40.

I guess I'm updating these on Thursday nights??? lmao   I'll get better at waiting until it's actually Friday here in America but I'm up for awhile longer so I figured might as well go ahead and reveal the second chart.


Week 2: February 21, 2020

The wild swings some of these songs took this week...whew! Buckle up and get ready for a wild roller-coaster chart ride! The House of Underwood is not responsible for any whiplash injuries sustained during the duration of this ride.







Lady Antebellum and Miranda Lambert fought like cats and dogs this week for the #1 spot, but in the end it's Miranda who claims the throne with "Bluebird," knocking Lady A clear down to #4. Trea Landon surges this week, going up four spots to claim the runner-up position with his song "Loved By A Country Boy." Harry Styles takes a huge leap, as "Watermelon Sugar" climbs from #11 to #3. Styles isn't the only song apparently on steroids, as Ashley McBryde's "One Night Standards" climbs a whopping 23 spots from #28 clear to #5, earning the distinction of being this week's Greatest Gainer! The rest of the Top 10 moves rather regularly, while Cam enters this week at #9 with her brand-new single "Till There's Nothing Left," earning the Hot-Shot Debut distinction and the record for highest debut on the chart.

In the Top 20, we see Little Big Town, Tenille Arts, and Jon Pardi, among others. Debuting at #15 is Billie Eilish with the 25th Bond theme, "No Time To Die." Rounding out this section at #20, we see Reba McEntire, who jumps halfway up the entire chart with "The Bar's Getting Lower." Selena Gomez debuts inside the Top 30 with "Lose You To Love Me," while at #27 Sam Smith debuts with their brand-new song "To Die For." Other entries in the Top 30 include Taylor Swift, Gabby Barrett, Ingrid Andress, and Panic! At the Disco. Nicki Minaj moves to #31 with her latest song "Yikes" while also closing out the list at #40 with Meghan Trainor and "Nice To Meet Ya."

Ashley McBryde vaulting all the way up to the top 5 and Cam debuting top 10 are nice to see as well.

Plays do tend to swing so I'm excited to see all the rollercoaster chart runs that your chart will inevitably have in store for us!

"Bluebird" has really grown on me in the recent weeks (I liked it to begin with but I like it even more now) so I'm glad to see that hit #1.

jk the two songs ("Only The Young" and "The Man") are great but tbh they do have a bit of a burn rate (expect both to hang around for awhile tho!)

Week 3: February 28, 2020






Miranda Lambert is sittin' pretty damn pretty on this pretty Week 3 chart as "Bluebird" notches a second week at #1, becoming the first multi-week #1 of this chart. The Top 5-10 remains pretty similar from last week, with Carrie Underwood climbing to a new peak of #2 with "Drinking Alone," knocking Trea Landon to #3. After only two weeks on the chart, Cam enters the Top 5 with "Till There's Nothing Left" while Reba McEntire takes another huge leap, climbing to #10 with "The Bar's Getting Lower."

Taylor Swift takes a huge leap with "The Man," climbing 22 spots from #33 to #11! She also finds herself at #20 once again, this time with "Only The Young," while other entries in the Top 20 this week include "God Only Knows," which vaults from #36, Sam Smith who leaps to #19 with "To Die For," and Gabby Barrett's "Hall Of Fame" which reaches a new peak of #13. The Top 30 includes entries from Normani, Selena Gomez, Dua Lipa, and Billie Eilish, while the Top 40 ends with two debuts: "Save A Little For Yourself" from Mandy Moore and "Cheatin' Songs" by Midland. Miranda Lambert continues to dominate the chart as "Bluebird" logs a third consecutive week at #1, seeming to have officially blocked the spot from both Trea Landon's "Loved By A Country Boy,' which slides down to #10, as well as--could it possibly be?!--Carrie Underwood's "Drinking Alone," which slides to #4 after peaking last week in the runner-up spot. Occupying that spot this week is Ashley McBryde's "One Night Standards," followed by Cam at #3 with "Till There's Nothing Left." Taylor Swift takes another leap with "The Man," which enters the Top 10 at #6 after previously peaking at #11, while Lady Antebellum enjoys their final week on the chart at #8.

1. You oughta see the spin difference between Miranda and Ashley! I just can't get enough of it at the moment! (I have a plan to highlight the year-end of this chart in December, and she's definitely going to be one of the Artists of the Year for sure!)

2. I can't see why he got ignored tbh; he's got a great voice and it's a great song. Plus it's neither here nor there, but he's hot as hell! Country radio continues to be tasteless (except PDs are clamoring for Mickey Guyton's new song tho so there's that too).

3. Well thank you; I mean country radio sure won't   it's a great song; expect at least a Top 5 finish before all is said and done!  ;)

Also: "Moon Over Mexico" acts as the latest single from Luke Combs' What You See Is What You Get, as I enjoy that song infinitely more than the actual current single.

Miranda Lambert puts a bit of a halt to the upper regions of the Top 10 as "Bluebird" just refuses to let go, notching a fourth consecutive week at #1, an all-time record since this is a new chart. Carrie Underwood re-peaks, taking back the runner-up position with "Drinking Alone". Ashley McBryde settles for the bronze this week with "One Night Standards", while Taylor Swift enters both the Top 5 and Top 10, with "The Man" and "Only The Young" reach #5 and #7 respectively. Another notable entry in the Top 10 is Halsey's "You should be sad" which re-enters the Top 10 of the chart, climbing from #12 to #8.

Week 6: March 20, 2020







Carrie Underwood scares away the bluebird as "Drinking Alone" manages to score this week's #1 position; Miranda Lambert settles for #2 after four consecutive weeks at the top. Taylor Swift and Cam switch spots, with Taylor going up to #4 with "The Man" and Cam going to #5 with "Till There's Nothing Left." Taylor also finds herself at #6 with "Only The Young" while the Top 10 lacks a bit of real movement with the only new entry to the Top 10 being "Sugar Coat" from Little Big Town.
