For me, i'd say 1977, 1989, 1997, 2000, 2006 & 2018 were the worst years for music

The whole 2010s decade!!! I cannot connect with it all. I don't use it that much as nearly as the decades before it.

The period from 2001 to 2005 is very bland imo.

I expect 2006, 2016 and 2018 to blow @$$ once I get around to listening to them. I have zero expectations for those years to be anything good.

The whole 2010s decade!!! I cannot connect with it all. I don't use it that much as nearly as the decades before it. Lord knows I came here to say this. My last favorite year of music was 2008. Things started to go downhill fast in 2009 and have not recovered at all, IMO, of course.

Judging by what songs represent each year to me (regardless of whether they were representative of the year in mainstream or popular music)
The teen pop era really dragged down pop music from 1998 until mid-to-late 2001. There were upsides but they are buried beneath all the dull-ass ballads and boring love songs from teen pop and adjacent music.
2016-17 was a bit bland to me and I don't feel particularly nostalgic for music from this era.
The 2020s are still too new to me to say just yet.

This year 2023 hasnβt had much in terms of music and one of the worst in my opinion. I mean, I donβt know if it can count yet since we donβt know what will come out in the second half of the year. So far though, itβs a considerable drop from last year which had a few good songs.
For the 2010s, I would say 2015 and 2016 were the most disappointing. There were some good songs, but the overall music scene just wasnβt the same as the early 2010s which were great.
The 2000s really had no disappointing years for music, as they were all awesome. Iβm not even sure what my least favorite one is. Maybe 2006.
For the 90s, also they are all good. Maybe 1995 or 1998 had less good songs than the other years.
For 80s, I also seem to be less interested in the middle part of the decade, 1984 to 1986 range. An interesting pattern that it is usually the mid parts of the decades.

2017-2019 are just awful, the early 2010's has such a great start.
Some of ya'll with the whole 2010's slander. Were you awake during that time?

Sure was. I heard very little creativity, mostly rehashed and combining of genres. Nothing that legendary. Maybe my memory is failing me.

I'd probably have to go with the stretch of 2001 to 2003. Other than a few isolated things going on like the rise of Eminem as well as a few pop punk and other alternative bands making waves, I just didn't like this period of music at all. So many cringeworthy "love" rap songs by people like Ja Rule with *insert random female singer here*, the country music being either bland filler or pro-war propaganda like Darryl Worley's atrocity "Have You Forgotten", the rise of really terrible post-grunge like Creed and Puddle of Mudd, the backwash of the late 90s boyband craze (basically all the ones you don't remember like O-town), and of course a bunch of limp ballads. I can enjoy most of the late 90s, later 2000s and even the 2010s with nostalgia goggles on, but not even those will save the early 2000s.

anything in the late 2010s, mostly 2017-2019, for me. there were obviously some great tunes but it was just so forgettable and hard to keep up with during that time. thankfully itβs getting better again.

2017-2018 were very dull years in music. Looking back, thereβs only a handful of music from those years that still enjoy today. Also, 2022-2023 have been very bland years in music. Iβm hoping things get better later this year.

2010 and 2011 were the height of the dance-pop boom which I didnβt care for one bit.
