The 1975 can make such good songs, but.... they can also make such crap songs as well as I feel like that they try so hard with too much experimentation and filler. I still haven't heard the new album yet, but I'm afraid to do so after watching a bunch of YouTube reviews. I'll probably end up giving the songs a bunch of high and low ratings to come out to overall decent.

Anthony Fantano, while I don’t agree with him on a few of his takes, gave Notes on a Conditional Form a 5/10. He also gave A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships a 6/10. I interpret that as it only being slightly worse than the previous album. Sometimes he can be pretty reputable, that’s why I’m giving it a listen.

I've never personally been able to get fully into any of their albums, but of course will give it a try (no pun intended) as everyone's opinion can differ on just about anything. Although since ARTV said there is a lot of autotune, that doesn't spell well for me. I hope to listen to it sometime soon to form my own opinion. Maybe I'll enjoy it. We'll see.

I’ll just say the highlights on this album are some of the highest points of their career. Also, you shouldn’t dismiss the singles you’ve already heard. Sometimes people don’t feel like they’re part of the album on the first play through but if you include them the album feels much stronger as a whole. This album can be really enjoyable if you give it time to grow on you and not dismiss it straight away.

Probably the most radio friendly single of their career, could see this being very huge if given the chance at Alt, Hot AC and even Top 40.

Does anyone think, if this blows up on alt which is looking likely, they will release another single from the album after this? I feel like they would. I think the best choices are Tonight (I Wish I Was Your Boy), Nothing Revealed / Everything Denied or What Should I Say. The first two managed to chart in the top 100 in the UK on the albums release week and the band described the latter as “could be their biggest hit yet” before the album was released.

The band often mentions that they don’t pay attention to the charts and Marty at one point said he didn’t even know that this was his biggest song on the charts in the UK. I hope they’d choose to send another song to radio after this one but I don’t think they would. If they did I think they’d send Guys though.

I'm betting more that this is coming for "that alt radio low teens peak", but a #1 would be cool I guess

Finally reached the top 20. Do songs usually take this long on this format? I dont usually follow the radio charts

Do songs usually take this long on this format? Also, if you thought Bakar taking almost 5 months to get to the top 20 was bad... look at the country airplay or adult contemporary charts. They are much slower.

Meg Myers' "Running Up That Hill" took a full year to get to #1. Sometimes songs are just slow burns.

It’s looking like this one’s sadly going to miss the top 10
