I never knew it did so poorly on pop airplay. They had a lot of better single choices on that album too. Let It Rain and Coming For You were right there I don't remember the situation completely AT ALL but I believe either she or her label wanted "How To Touch A Girl" released and many thought it wasn't a good idea. It was proven to be a bad idea and I think killed the era. Divasummer, Do you know that Jo Jo is from your home state? She is from Worcester MA.

I fully didn’t even realize this had gone top 50, nice. Would love to see it climb but not holding my breath.

I actually believe she was born in VT, moved to NH and then to Foxboro Ma where she was mostly raised. About "How To Touch A Girl" I believe it was her first single she wrote so I think it was she and her management pushing for it. I agree with others I would have rather seen "This Time" or "The Way You Do Me" as a single but if "HTTAG"'s subject was to mature "TWYDM" may have been to much too.

'Anything' DID get released though, and it did better than HTTAG on pop radio, although that's not saying much when it barely scraped top 40. Well, 'Anything' was the right choice imo. The thing is it was released, like, 2 or 3 months after HTTAG had already killed the era, and it didn't even have a video. Had it followed TLTL I'm sure it could've gone at least top 20, but we know how that turned out.. Everyone knows you don't release 2 ballads in a row, especially if the second is HTTAG, which is barely exciting as an album track, let alone a single.

I agree with your post but back in the day I was so up "This Time" and "The Way You Do Me"'s butt that "Anything" was an after thought. I just went back and listened to it and I remember liking it at the time and thinking it was better than "HTTAG" but I think I slept on it some. It's better than I remember. "The High Road" was a really good cd. I hope "Man" keeps going. I think it's really catchy. A lot of times it takes me awhile to get into songs that are mid tempo but this is hott.

Yup, I remember those two plus Anything and LIR were the standouts for me back in the day, TT could've been a good choice too. TWYDM would be very controversial release, someone asked her last year what song had been the most difficult to re-record and she mentioned TWYDM because of its inappropriate lyrical content and having to record that when she was only fifteen. Still a bop though.

Unfortunately it doesn't really matter what singles came after TLTL for The High Road. The album was supremely fucked after its lead due to all of the label issues that began that year.

Looking at the Rhythmic chart, and this has gotta be so close to top 50 on that format. The threshold for #50 is <300 spins (#50 currently has 262 spins) and Trippie Red at #49 is gonna fall out any day now.

hot girl bummer goes recurrent tomorrow. You should be sad and The Other Side should be purged along with Ali Gatie, fingers crossed. Assuming she's back in the top 50 for tomorrow morning's update, whether or not Ali is purged won't affect this, at this will be pulled up to #47, which will at least outpeak When Love Hurts and Not That Kinda Girl! There's even a small chance it could pass Best on Earth tomorrow too, which would put it at #46 on the final update, tying How to Touch a Girl. “When Love Hurts” charted? I had no idea. Anyone have a list of her pop peaks?

This really isn't going anywhere. I think she should focus instead on Urban/UAC with "Lonely Hearts" or "Comeback".

Agree. Her label are the worst. They have an R&B album and they are only focussing on Pop, a format she is never gonna have any success on (well not with her current music anyway). Why not focus on Urban/Urban AC like Snoh Aalegra, Kiana Lede etc.
