That just might go down as the biggest flop of this rankdown

After bboat11 loses his first top ten, toomuchboy jumps right in behind him with one of the most polarizing songs so far, the title track from Tanya's only studio album with Arista Records Changes (just missing the top 40 on country radio in the US while failing to chart in Canada).

Okay, I'll let y'all chew on that for the next good bit while I try to get some rest. G'night! :)

Given America's racial reckoning over the summer, "I Believe the South is Gonna Rise Again" made it a bit further into the rankdown than I thought it might. I sent my list in way back in March well before the events of the summer, so I can't really say if my ranking for this would've been lower because of that. I revisited the playlist before this launched and as I listened to this again I was curious what thoughts might've crossed y'alls mind as you listened to it. The title is a saying that makes me cringe, but the song itself subverts the kind of meaning I usually associate with the phrase. I would like to live in a South like the one she describes.

Yea, the most cringe worthy thing about the song is the title in and of itself. For anyone that maybe hadn't heard this song before I thought they might've been more inclined to put this down lower on their list based on the title alone. As for the song itself, it actually reflects a sense of unity and coming together as she sings about human kindness.

I was NOT expecting my #2 to be a flop!!! Holy cow you guys!!! For some reason I found the "Here's some love; take a little bit of it home with you" lyric to be really catchy and memorable. Maybe it was the way the chorus kinda picks up in tempo all of a sudden. This is actually one that I have put on repeat several times since doing the rankdown. Never in a million years would have predicted I'm the only one to appreciate it!! It sounded to me like a surefire top 20!

Wow #2 for "Here's Some Love" is interesting haha I don't like her vocal on it, and the production seems even more dated than other songs from it's time to me. I also don't like the "rainy day, hey, hey, hey" part at all.
"Pecos Promenade" stands out in her discography a lot and looking at my list again I think that's why I had it as high as I did. (48)
"Spring" and "Changes" I wanted to like more, they're both solid songs that really could grow on me more if I spend more time with them.
I thought "Ridin' Rainbows" would be more well liked here so that one took me a bit by surprise being out this low.
"Not Fade Away" is a bad cover and it just doesn't sound good.
I think the title did "I Believe The South Is Gonna Rise Again" because the message is great and I really like the sound of the production.

Hey guys; my laptop is acting pretty strange tonight, but I'll try to do another set of reveals tomorrow.

Now that I got my laptop running with all functional cylinders, I should be able to sneak in some reveals now.
Narrowly dodging the bottom 20 is one of Tanya's least successful singles from the 90's, "Find Out What's Happenin', the second single from Fire to Fire. Initially a top 15 country hit from Bobby Bare in 1968, Tanya's version only made it to #40 in 1995. I'm quite sad this is gone already as I find this to be a jam despite the clunky melodies here and there.

I guess the inclusion of "Romeo" was me trying to emulate the huge collaboration bboat11 included in the Toby Keith rankdown some months back? In all seriousness, this actually made the top 30 on country radio back in 1993 peaking at #27, along with reaching the top 50 on the Hot 100, too! Literally credited as "Dolly Parton and Friends", "Romeo" is prominently a Dolly Parton single featuring Tanya with Mary Chapin Carpenter, Pam Tillis, Kathy Mattea, and Billy Ray Cyrus.

I love "Romeo" but it really doesn't belong in a rankdown for someone like Tanya Tucker when her part is so inconsequential so I had to rank it lower for that reason.

"Find Out What's Happenin'" is kind of a jam and I had to put this one on repeat more than a few times when revisiting it. Considering it was only a top 40 hit back in the day I'd say it's leaving at a good spot.
While I'm not surprised to see "Romeo" out already, this has and will always be a guilty pleasure of mine!

Give me a few minutes to reboot my laptop and I should hopefully be able to reveal the song that won the tie.
Here's a sneak peek: we'll still be in the same decade (the 90s); it was a big country hit; and three top 20s will be chopped! :o

If I were to take a guess I’d have to say maybe something along the lines of “Don’t Go Out” as that was a solid hit in the early 90s. I’m sure I’m way off but that song seems like it’d be something Pulse wouldn’t like.

Close but no cigar...
We have the near chart topper "Soon", which served as the lead single and title track from Tanya's second studio album with Liberty Records in 1993.
As much as I want this to grow on me, I'm having a very difficult time in doing so.

One of the bonus tracks and released as a promo single from While I'm Livin', "The Winner's Game" turned out to be one of the most polarizing songs in the rankdown, gathering a near top ten from George Strait Junkie and a last-placer from taylor. I did read somewhere that the song was played during an episode of The Good Doctor. Anyone seen that show? Just curious.

One of the few songs so far to receive no bottom ten rankings, "It's Only Over for You" served as the fourth and final single from Girls Like Me, the first album which can be considered as Tanya Tucker's "relaunch" of a career. The song peaked at #8 on the Billboard country chart while missing the top ten on RPM's by peaking at #12.
Up next is another song from the same album! :o

If it's any consolation bboat11, this was the album's only #1 hit for both the US and Canada! However, it does make me wonder how much longer "One Love at a Time" and "I'll Come Back as Another Woman" will last...

As much as I want this to grow on me, I'm having a very difficult time in doing so. I've mentioned previously in the 1994 rankdown that I was never really a fan of Tanya's Soon era as I never really seemed to connect anything (honestly what young boy would?). That said, ever since revisiting the songs first in the year-end rankdown and then again for this I think I can say some of this material is starting to grow on me. You can probably chalk that up to growing older and hopefully a bit more wiser lol, but I certainly like "Soon" a lot more now than I ever did back then.

While "It's Only Over For You" isn't a bad song by any means, I do find it to be one of her more less memorable hits from the 80s as I never can really quite remember how it goes. Once I hear that chorus, though, it starts to come back to me but even then it isn't anything I'd seek out on its own.
"Just Another Love" is the first loss thus far that actually stings a bit. This was the year (1986) when Tanya began to regain her commercial footing within the industry again and this song went on to become her first number one song since 1976!
