Huh, I thought I had this one higher. It's a pretty good song.

Honestly, I'll echo what was said earlier. Love Talking Heads, but this was not anywhere close to their peak.

Inside Out is the definition of a college rock campfire song, adore it.
I really like Nothing But Flowers, experimental and gives me a little Peter Gabriel.

It's a bit of a hynoptic cover version. This surprised me when I saw that it was KROQ's #1 song of 1988.

let's continue taking a closer look at some of the songs that should've been included (& would've if i'd been able to see the charts for certain weeks earlier) in our rankdown...here's today's SPECIAL EXTRA:
"Better Be Home Soon" - Crowded House
Starting out as Split Enz in the late 70s, the Finn brothers dropped their new wave sound for a more straight-forward singer/songwriter sound under their new name Crowded House. They managed a huge worldwide hit off the bat w/ "Don't Dream It's Over". This is the 1st single from their second album, Temple Of Low Men. It was a #2 smash in both of their home countries of Australia & New Zealand, made it to 29 on Billboard, 42 on the Hot100 & climbed as high as 5 on the Hard Report.

Not only was "Ana Ng" the highest SD of the rankdown it now holds the honor of having the highest SD in rock chart rankdown history beating out "Give It Away" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers which had an SD of 39.56 in Alt 1991. How is this the most divisive song ever?

#40: "Motorcrash" - Sugarcubes Borderline decent music is the reason I kept it out of my bottom ten. The fact this this chick just sings without any regard for the melody of the song is the reason this band will most likely be a VIP tank band for me. The other one is even worse.
#39: "Ana Ng" - They Might Be Giants Cool guitar melody. The vocals of this band take time to digest, but their music is almost always fun.
#38: "No New Tale To Tell" - Love And Rockets Yup same old same old story. This band looked like a band who could put out much better music. This was boring to say the least..
#37: "Golden Calf" - Prefab Sprout We are to the band who I decided to chart in 2020. Not this song. This is actually a pretty good jam, but it's their Sophistipop Spandau Ballet sounding songs that really tune me in.
#36: "Inside Out" - Mighty Lemon Drops We are getting to some pretty decent examples of good Modern Rock. I think I like this style more than their 90's style.
#35: "(Nothing But) Flowers" - Talking Heads This was the song I was Talking about. Ridiculous foolish lyrics, but such a fun song. Sometimes I just crave fun music. The video was also perfect for the song. I was waiting for Paul Simon to make a cameo. Normally I'm not a Paul Simon fan, but I did love "You Can Call Me Al" and I swear they were doing the Paul Simon bass playing dance.
#34: "Bed Bugs & Ballyhou" - Echo & The Bunnymen This band has certainly done a lot better. Couldn't even squeeze into my top 50.
#33: "Pleasure" - Railway Children First time listen for me and it blew me away. Shot this one right into my top 20. It was easy to do, since I only knew a handful of these songs to begin with. This sounded like 90's Spanish Rock. Great to see it perform so well among all of us.
#32: "Route 66" - Depeche Mode Great slot for this one. We all know it. Its a classic.
#31: "Christine" - House Of Love Another cool first listen. That guitar melo in the Christine parts sounds very familiar. Great vocals, and the guitar solo helped me upgrade this one into my top 30.

#41: "Silk Skin Paws" - WireI have no idea who this band was, but I really enjoyed both of their offerings in the list. Gave me some Los Prisioneros vibes. The melody the verses follow is eargasmic to me. it kinda brings the gothic and poppy vibes together wonderfully. A nice music hard-on all the way through. Good comparison, although more "Corazones" than "Pateando Piedras" Prisioneros

40. Motorcrash (50): This has always been a fun, energetic, little tune (brass included). Not my favorite from them in this RD --wanted a bit more of melody. I've never minded Bjork's vocals, but I admit she's an acquired taste, though.
39. Ana Ng (100): There are few occasions when a song annoys me. This is one of them unfortunately. And I say unfortunately because the music is actually ok. I could not stand the out-of-tune harsh vocals though, nor the interrupted attempt of a melody in the chorus. I remember liking a few other TMBG songs before, so I initially thought I was gonna rank this one higher, but every time I listened to this I wanted to skip it. Never clicked with me at all.
38. No New Tale To Tell (36): Actually, the opposite happened with this. I had it in my 80s when I first heard it, as I think I was concentrating too much in the limitations of the vocals in the first verse and the disappointing No New Tale To Tell hook in the first couple of minutes. With more listens, I got over that section and focused on what happens after the second minute, where music, melody, production, vocals get significantly better. The more I listened to it, the more I got it. And it eventually ended up higher than their Mirror People, whereas initially I had MP much higher than NNTTT.
37. Golden Calf (53): This sounded quite forward-looking actually, reminded me more of early 90s music. Pretty good vocals and nice nostalgic melody and production. Another song that got in the zone where songs very close to each other for me to rank, as I could've ended up easily ranking it in my top 40 . Pretty good discovery.
36. Inside Out (69): Nice, pleasant song. I just found other songs more interesting and with stronger melody especially in the chorus.
35. (Nothing But) Flowers (16): I really liked when David Byrne turned into world music, and brought influence from many countries and cultures into his work. This has a great, genuine African influence, with great vocal harmonies, and just a lot of fun vibe. I'll always give extra points to David because his efforts have been honest. When he incorporated Peruvian/Andean influence in one of his albums, he did his homework, came to our country, and got one of our best Afro-Peruvian singers to participate in the record. Similar genuineness is felt in this song.
34. Bed Bugs & Ballyhou (64): I really wanted to rank them higher, just like Eurythmics. I've always liked the main guitar riff, and the chorus melody is ok, but overall the song doesn't reach its potential, and sounded more like an unbaked, incomplete effort especially for a band with so many interesting songs.
33. Pleasure (41): Another great discovery to me, that was very close to make my top 30. Strong nostalgic melody that was a preamble to the 90s sound. Reminded me of music that Toad The Wet Sprocket would record years later.
32. Route 66 (43): I didn't care for the lyrics or even the vocal melody, but that music is gold. That guitar-synth-drum combo is a classic. Not in my top 15 DM songs, but good enough to make the top half primarily due to the instrumentation.
31. Christine (29): One of my favorite discoveries. Love the epic production and the great use of synth, guitar, and vocal effects. The vocal harmonies made it to the next level.

I think it was a personal rankdown, but I remember hearing Ana Ng and outside of that unusual chorus, it was fine.
