This reminds me of BLABR for some reason. Not one of my favorites on first listen. Let's see how it'll go.

Since Sam confirmed on Instagram that "Hard to Forget" will be the next single, I moved the pre-existing thread over. :)

I wonder if they’ll give Webb Pierce credit for this as well since it samples his song??? That’s a joke but I’ve seen Billboard give credit to artists before for singles they shouldn’t give them credit for

That’s a joke but I’ve seen Billboard give credit to artists before for singles they shouldn’t give them credit for I still don't see them including all the samples in the song at radio -- especially the opening sample. We'll see though.

This is a really weird song. It’s very catchy and I think I like it, but it seems extremely polarizing for radio. Maybe Sam doesn’t care, but I much prefer “Sinning With You”.

Love this on first listen. At once it feels fresh and new, but also comfortable.

This is the catchiest thing I've heard in a while.
Could definitely see the transition from Pierce to Hunt as a TikTok.

I don’t usually like Sam Hunts music but this song is good and really catchy. I wouldn’t mind this one becoming a big summer hit.

Sent to radio this afternoon.
Two versions. One of the original and the other a radio edit, which significantly cuts down the Webb Pierce sample intro. It’s about 15 seconds shorter in length.

I wasn't so sure at first, but I really like this now. I can see it being a little polarizing, so it's a good idea that they sent out two versions of the song.

I think the Webb Pierce intro makes the song even better. Some radio edits I understand why they make them and some I don’t.

I think the Webb Pierce intro makes the song even better. Some radio edits I understand why they make them and some I don’t. Really? The sample is still a big part of the song but this radio edit makes complete sense. For one, programmers don’t like cold opens. They’re hard to program around with talkovers from on-air personalities and sweepers. There’s still a cold open but at least the music plays right behind it here. Playing 15-16 seconds of a cold open sample was never going to be part of the radio edit. Secondly, as sad as this is, the Webb Pierce sample on its own (which is that entire 15 second intro) would have been very jarring to listeners. It’s a rare occurrence in a single and from a song that’s nearly 70 years old. Stations can still choose to play the original version but making no radio edit available would’ve been the shock here.

This is my favorite single from Sam Hunt since "Make You Miss Me" at least. I'd probably put it in my top 3 of his career thus far alongside that one and "House Party." What a great song. That sample was such an odd thing to throw into this song, but it totally works & completely makes the song.

I am glad the intro was cut or reduced, cause it's awful. That said, the rest of the song is amazing!

I wasn't liking this at first, but it's growing on me. Is there anywhere I can hear the radio edit?

Patty Loveless covered the Webb Pierce song on her last record I believe and it is really good. Would have been interesting to hear her version put with this song, just for something different.
Anyway, this has remained a favorite and I cannot wait to hear him sing this live when I see him in July!

Leaps into the Country Airplay top 40 at #33 and looks like it might be the only new song in the top 40 as well.

I still really love the catchy word play in this song.
I'm falling apart...you're playing hard to forget (instead of hard to get, a nice little twist)
I got a bottle of whiskey but I got no proof (proof like alcohol, so even when he drinks he can find no evidence that she is doing this to mess with his head).
Plus just the rhythm that he sings with makes me smile and gives me so much energy.

100 Proof by Kellie Pickler did the double meaning of proof as evidence and alcohol much better.
