The connecting theme between Witness, Man of the Woods, Revival, and Changes is not that they're by aging artists, it's that the albums just flat out suck lmao. These artists put out terrible singles and promoted themselves in the most tone deaf ways and that's why they flopped. The amount of time they had been in the mainstream prior was irrelevant. All of them had chances to have massive eras but blew it (especially Bieber, who was positioned very well going into Changes). Em is the only one out of all of these artists who was able to take a step back from the abyss by evaluating the failures of his flop era and adjusting accordingly, and now he has a legitimate hit at the age of 47. The rest of them could do that as well if they really wanted to.

Artists don’t fade from popularity because of a change in calendar, it’s because they stop putting out music that appeals to people or they don’t keep up with the times in a changing music landscape which ultimately would negatively effect the performance of their music. It is annoying however that people comment about ‘no Adele or Rihanna this week, move along’ every week when there’s a perfectly fine set of exciting new artists having their songs run on the charts right now that deserve attention because they could be around for a long time and it’s exciting to see what will become of their careers later on in the decade.

No one is big forever, Drake and Adele, it is safe to say have peaked. In Adele's case, 5 years between albums will eventually work against her. Even in Eminem's case, sure he has had songs blast into the top 10 for a week or two but the only major hits (songs that stay around awhile) in the last 10 years have been duets with Rihanna.

Yeah i did know who roddy ricch was last year lol Yall forget how massive Scorpion was. I don't think Drake can top THAT, I just dont see it. Maybe I'll be proven wrong but Scorpion was a MOMENT. I also wouldn't be surprised if Kendrick doesn't surpass DAMN and Adele doesn't surpass 25. I also don't see Ari surpassing thank u next, either. 2018/2019 brought a massive amount of new artists like Billie Eilish, like Roddy, and we've seen artists who started in 15-17 blow up to new heights such as Khalid and Post Malone. Not to mention all the flop eras from stars like Katy Perry, Justin Timberlake, Eminem, and now Justin Bieber. If Juice WRLD didn't just die and wasn't on Godzilla, it wouldn't have debuted top 10. Y'all put too much bank into artists without watching the trends. I said BEFORE last year. Did you know who he was in 2018? Were you a fan? And now you're changing your words to say you wouldn't be surprised if they don't surpass their previous eras, but in your original post, you basically said their careers were over and they were being replaced by new heavyweights. Taylor will most likely never match the success of her 1989 era, but her reputation and Lover eras were still massively successful and she's still a massive commercial artist. I just think it's silly to put a cap on how far an artist can take their career simply because a few acts have flopped in the past few years. Like I said, wait and see how an artist performs first before declaring their career over. That's all.

Yall think im saying 2010s artists are done for, im just saying theyre not gonna have the same amount of relevance and power in the next few years, especially since we're already seeing a new batch of artists take their place on top. Yall are so pressed about this

I can agree with everything you said, except for Eminem. 21 years in this game and he's still slaying. 12 Hot 100 entries 218 million streams in its first week #1 with 280k SPS and it's currently #11 on Billboard 200, eligible for Gold after 4 weeks. and since his weak Revival era, he achieved 5 top 10 hits, which is huge.

Artists fade from popularity because of a number of reasons: -music styles change and they don't change with it - Eventually the artist and his/her music becomes the music your parents listened to - The core fan base grows up and has moved on - leaving the artist to struggle to find a new fan base

Peaking doesn't mean you automatically begin to flop. Taylor peaked in 2014, but the album era she had 5 years later was still really successful. There will always be a peak in success or achievements, but it doesn't mean that there also can't be a period of sustained success that while not matching said peak, is still notable and remarkable.

Yall are so pressed about this How do you know they won't have the same relevance and power in the next few years? Will you steal it away? New artists coming out doesn't mean the old ones automatically fade away or die out. Nobody is pressed. You phrased your original post in the worst way possible and people called you out on it and now you're being defensive.

Obviously im gonna defend an argument i made when multiple people attack me for it lmao. Its just what i think will happen, im not saying its for sure gonna happen. Rihannas new album could be a huge flop, it could be the biggest album of all time, it could underperform ANTI or overperform ANTI. I'm just saying that I think a lot of 10s artists will begin to fade out throughout the 20s and I think a lot of the signs are there lol

I'm so happy to see Jhenè Aiko's album performing really well on Apple Music. I really didn't expect that. I don't think she'll slay as well on Spotify, but I hope she does. Her tour also sold out. I'm not exactly a huge fan but I always keep my eyes open for her stuff and it's dope to see her still here doing well. This will probably be her biggest album debut.

I didn't say "flop", I said "peak" --- means different things Michael Jackson for instance never had another "Thriller" but had hits regularly after that for another 10+ years. Adele will put out another album but it will come nowhere near what '21' did or even '25' for that matter but it will be a hit. Drake will continue to put out albums and have hits too but will likely never have another year like 2018 Eminem still to this day has modest hits but his peak years are behind him. Drake and Adele will continue to have modest hits too. As they say those 'lightning in a bottle" moments are hard to repeat. Nowhere to go from there but down.

Loving EA a lot, but there’s no song with a really strong hook that sticks out as a surefire hit. Gonna be interesting to see what if anything sticks.

I think Baby Pluto and I’m Sorry have the biggest hit potential. Maybe P2, but idk how people will react to it

I said it before but Silly Watch sounds like TikTok will get on board and make it a hit.

Also, I know litigating Stupid Love's performance is so last week, but it managed to gain a position from yesterday despite 31 songs debuting in front of it, meaning it would have gained 32 positions if there were no debuts today. Not sure what caused that, but I'm rather intrigued.

Literally artists from the 2000s that were in their peak in the 2000s (examples usher, black eyed peas, Alicia Keys etc) fled out of the hot 100 rolling into the 2010s. the same will happen for the other huge artists that peaked in the 2010s. New stars arise, records get broken, old stars cease to exist in relevance. It’s the music industry. I don’t see most of the top 10 artists of the 2010s being relevant in the 2020s. Except rappers i guess cuz of streaming but it won’t have longevity on the charts. Ageism also exists (as a lot of these artists are getting older)

The Bee Gees were the ultimate 70s acts that didn't get any hits in the 80s.
Same thing with Boyz II Men, they were unstoppable in the 90s but didn't get a single hit in the 2000s.

On my second listen of EA and...I like this? Like prior to this album, I did not like Lil Uzi; the only songs I've liked were XO and I had a soft spot Money Longer but this album and especially the production, I'm not gonna say it on level with Rodeo or Culture or even Astroworld in terms of amazing trap beats, they're just so sticky and good. Is this what it felt like to actually enjoy Die Lit? Because I feel this is what Die Lit should've been.

Bee Gees - not true - even hit the top 10 in 1989 The Bee Gees were the face of disco in the 70s and were the victims of the early 80s backlash against disco - The Bee Gees realized this and started writing for other people instead of themselves until 1989 when they hit the top 10 themselves

What people? They also had two other top 40 hits in the 80s as well --- other exceptions I guess. But you are right - if you exclude the hits they did have - they had no hits in the 80s
